  1. Everything Cat told you was true about Smyrna except one pretty big detail, He is the ONLY one who picks them to be out of the playoff hunt and doesn't expect much in 05. He is something of a sandbagger. They will finish in the top two of the region and if they can get of the mental aspect should push Riverdale for the region title.

As for Colombia's chances for the playoffs I would have to put them in the slim area. While I have no doubt they have adequate talent, adjusting to a tough region such as this one will be very, very tough the first year. If they finish forth I would think that to be a good first year in this region. I really think 6th or 7th is where they will fall.

  2. From page 29 of the handbook under definitions #4:

Dead Period- No coaching, observing, or contact between coaches and players. ALL indoor facilities must be closed unless approved in writing by the Executive Director.

  3. While their new region is not exactly easy I think it is easier than last year's and I think they will probably sneak into the playoffs for the first time in quite some time.

  4. This region will once again be top heavy with Lincoln County and Cookeville battling it out for the top spot( I think Cookeville should win that battle.) After that it gets a little cloudy. I think Franklin County and Coffee County should round out the playoffs, but I do see the possibiliity that it could be the other two teams. Should be a more competitive region this year especially teams 3-6. If FC gets quality play from its Juniors or if Coffee County can find a viable FB or open it up for their Qb then one of those two could sneak into the top spot.

  5. Saw someone talking about the upcoming Soph QB at Lincoln County earlier in this thread. One thing is for sure, maybe not next year but soon the kid will be a player. When I saw him two seasons ago ( as an 8th grader) he was far ahead of any kid I have seen in the passing game at that age.

Also I got a chance to see Oakland a couple of times during their Spring. They looked much stronger across the board. I thought for the vanilla offense it looked like they ran, things went fairly well. If Cowan plays up to the potential that he shows flashes of this could be a team to watch out for.

  6. Barnes back for Tullahoma huh....

I think it will be log jam at the top between Lincoln County, Coffee County, and Tullahoma. I have a gut feeling it may be the year for Tullahoma, but who knows.

I guess I'll put them something like this:

    1. Tullahoma- Did lose Darlington, but got back Barnes. Everyone else should be improved.

    2. Coffee County- Great program with some very good players, but I'm not sold on their pitching after their #1.

    3. Lincoln County- I thought last year they would establish themselves as the best team for the next few years and that didn't happen. Will be improved and probably SHOULD win the district.

    4. Columbia- I know nothing except they have Everyone back.

    5. Shelbyville- Their very good coaching staff will find a way for them to be competitive.

    6. Franklin Co.- Until the prove otherwise I have to leave them near the bottom.

    7. Lawrence Co.- I wish them the best.

  7. I have a hard time believing you actually put your cell number on a public forum, but its not mine so.....

Anyway, both teams are playing well right now and this should be a good one. This game will be close throughout and I think it may come down to who hits free throws in the 4th. If thats the case I think the edge has to go to Columbia by about 4. I hope that isn't the case, but I have a feeling it will be.

  8. Here's the eight that will be playing in Mississippi:

    Collierville

    Germantown

    Dickson Co.

    Hendersonville

    Knox Central

    Farragut

    Riverdale

    Soddy Daisy

Soddy has to a pretty sizable favorite but Collierville, Hendersonville, and Riverdale will all be capable of knocking them off.

  9. Should be improved from last year, no doubt about that. I think they have to be the favored to be in the top 2 in the district and probably the favorite and probably the number two team in the region.
