  1. No problem TopDawg, happens to the best of us....even I have been known to get caught in the moment a few thousand times or so. Greatly announced game by the way....I don't enjoy that much about Clay Co. but your announcing is something I always do enjoy listening to. Are they gonna allow you to announce the district tourny games this year? Just been a travesty since you've not been doing them....Doesn't feel like the district tournament to me. Still can hear all those "Nathan Aaron for thr-ee" in my head from when I was a jr. higher.
  2. Clay got shut down by PC defense, too bad they didn't have an offense tonight to win them the game....Cause we had Clay at 6 points with 5 or 6 mins to go in the game, and then the officials got involved and we made some turnovers. Hey TopDawg, you should have announced at the end of the game when you said" Clay Co moves to 20-5 and remain atop the standing in 7a", it should have been, tied atop the standings at the very minimum, because actually right now JC holds the tie breaker with you all so they are actually atop the standings in 7a until/if Clay beats them on Tuesday night.
  3. First of all, I wanna apologize for being critical of these young players and especially Coach Bibb. He knows what he's doing and I think that goes with how his team has been playing over the last couple of weeks, now they haven't won in a long time, since christmas I think, but they are playing hard for him. Their defense has been absolutely excellent, they've shut down some pretty good players lately. Their problems is with their offense, and if they can ever get that figured out then they'll be right back we're we are used to having them, at top of district 7a. Coach Bibb and his players work as hard, if not harder, than anyone in district and it was wrong of me to say anything to diminish them or take to take away from what they are doing just because I'm an frustrated old bobcat fan. Second, You have two posts on here, so first of all I will listen to nothing you say. As for Elder and Dowdy your right on that, they are good pieces to this puzzle. This group isn't what we're used to having at PC, but they are playing well this year, and basically don't lose that much. I said at this time last year, that Dowdy as a senior and Elder as a junior will be really good, once they got playing time....I was laughed at and told I knew nothing about basketball, well a year later, I'm looking smarter and smarter everyday....These kids haven't reached their full potential. Now i take exception to what you say about the freshman, you've been to high school games, have you seen the freshman play? Because I haven't seen them get to play that much in regular games, to know how good they will or won't be. It's not easy to come in as a freshman and play in Coach Bibb's system. I mean not every freshman is Jacob Wright or Luke Mason and can just play right off the bat. It usually takes til half way through your sophomore year to figure out what kinda player someone is gonna be. Listen I won't comment on any one other than my brother, because he is my brother, I can be hard on him and not be looked down upon by others, but I think some of the other freshman will be good as well. Scott is 6'2 as a freshman right now, as of right now, he's the 4th or 5th tallest guy on the team, well doctor tells us he's still got a year of growing left, maybe he'll grow another 2 inches....but lets say he doesn't grow anymore....ok, well Scott can shoot the lights out of it, I've seen him do it again and again....His problem is in three areas, he's gotta gain some weight, like 20-30 lbs. learn all of Coach Bibb's plays and he's gotta get alot better on the defensive end. He's tall, lanky, and has no trouble scoring.. so yeah, I think by his junior year, he and a couple of the other freshman now are really gonna contribute then. And if I'm wrong, by the end of his senior year, I'll eat my words. As for the current sophomores, all the team has gotta get the ball to Elder, Cummings is gonna have to learn how to a) handle full court pressure, (/cool.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="B)" border="0" alt="cool.gif" /> shoot the ball when he has an open look, and c) cut to the basket and either 1) take it to the hoop or 2) bring the defense in and kick it to the open man....because now he just stands at the top of the key and passes it back and forth and that does nothing, but He's only gonna get better with playing time.....Ben Aaron is gonna have to get a little more physical and a little bit better ball protection....they all play hard, and play good defense, they just need improvement on the defensive end. The 8th grade class is a wash, really no size or athleticism there....but their is promise with the 7th grade class, but we really won't know anything about them until fall 2012 really, so anything could happen between now and then..We've gotta think about this, most of the players in the past didn't have a class in front of them blocking their playing time..for example, when Aaron, Crouch, and Asberry where in 8th grade they were good enough to play and play a lot for the high school team, because their wasn't much in front of them, this team had a great team in front of them, so it's gonna take them at least this year to get some playing time under their belt so they can become better players.. I'm proud of how our guys played at Clay tonight, tough physical game, and we were right in it until about 4 mins left in the game....If we could have hit our free throws and not made all those costly turnovers, who knows, maybe we're winners.....but I've watched a lot of games in my life, but tonight I was proud to be a Bobcat for the effort our boys showed.
  4. Alright NS, your right, I got ya, I was thinking Tim Reagan, Pennycuff and Matt Smith graduated in 1996, but it was '97, so no that wasn't a bad year.....'98-'99 is what I was thinking, maybe '97-'98 seasons, those two kinda mesh together for me...When I said '97 I meant the '97-'98 season, we weren't very good that year, and we weren't very good the next year either. Aaron, Crouch and Asberry's sophomore year is when we really got good again.
  5. I for some reason thought they both got one, but I may be wrong....I know he was trying to get one, cause he was all over the refs the entire second half....but like muffin said, Brent sure likes those technicals, but I kinda like them, makes girls basketball interesting again with him on the sidelines.
  6. The ball was stolen because the kid got tackled, easy to steal something when you get pushed down...and thats the last I'm gonna say about that, i sat their I watched it, you won't convince me other wise. As for it not being close next time, you JC fans didn't think it would be close the last time, and PC nearly beat you. As for not having size? Heath Elder is a big ole boy, trust me, I go to church with him, I've played pick up games with him for years...and he pushes me around a little bit of the time, and I'm 6'2 250....so thats not an easy task....don't say he can't handle these big guys, I mean he did light you all up for 23 pts last game. And Jo Dowdy has that long wing span at 6'2 to be able to guard virtually anyone, other than the center, on the court. Everyone has speculated on how bad PC was gonna be this year, and other than @ JC, @Monterey, and Clay at home, this team has been in every other game...This team is dangerous, because you never know what team will show up. Now I'm not saying they are for sure gonna go out and beat anyone in the state, but they have been playing good basketball against single A competition, and don't show any signs of stopping anytime soon. Now tomorrow night will say a lot about this team by how they play tomorrow night in Celina.
  7. I won't comment on any call made during the game other than the one not called at the end of the game cause the fouls were for the most part even i think but...The Aaron kid clearly was fouled, he ended up on the ground, and it wasn't because he tripped over his shoe laces...I was setting right there and watched it...Now with that said, PC lost this game because when they where down 1 with less than 30 secs left, they got to the foul line and Jo Dowdy missed two big free throws. This team is a horrible free throw shooting team, especially late, when they count. JC made their free throws and made the big shots at the end of the game, so they won it, and good for them, but I think everyone in the gym except for you thinks that was a foul at the end of the game. But that comes with single A refs in rural areas, they think inside of 30 secs they have to put their whistles in their pockets. But PC had their chance and blew it, so we as fans can't get on here and say that the ref cost us the game, because they didn't, we lost it by being awful in big situations at the free throw stripe.
  8. Coach Bibb has been a little Technical happy here lately...he got one in the JC game, the Russellville game, and now the FCS game... I guess he knows what he's doing though and thats why he's the coach and we're not.
  9. Actually in '97 that was the first year TSSAA started the sectional format where the top 2 teams for our region and 2 teams from Chattanooga's region would go to a place obviously that year it was Sale Creek..So they lost the district championship game, lost region championship game, and then lost the first round of the sectional, and they weren't tri-lakes conference champs either....so that team really didn't accomplish anything, in terms of what PC had done before and after that....that wasn't a very good team either. This team could very easily be 10-8 if they have won some of their close games. So yeah, that we are 6-12 is disappointing, it could be worse, it could be better, but its not. We as fan, or atleast I am, very proud of our past, but I have no intention of thinking our programs run has come to an end. Usually at the end of a great run, we have one down year in which we need to rebuild, '97 was that, and so is '09...'90-'96 we have an incredible run were we made state tournament every year but '94, and then '98-'08 we made state 4 times, made substate 3 times and then went to sectionals two or three times as well.. The next wave is coming thru, its just gonna take this season and part of next season to get us going good again.
  10. Listen, you could see coach Smith turn it on, he wanted that T and wasn't gonna stop til he got one. As for the boys game, you think maybe, just maybe that JC shot 22% and missed all those layups due to PC's defense? Probably so, cause lets look at how PC has been playing according to its competition in single A in the last couple of weeks. Clarkrange lost by three, shut down Brandon Upchurch, JC lost by 2 held JC to 22%, lost twice to Friendship twice by 10 or less both times. Now a key word there, is they lost, but they are a different team now than they were when they played at JC....JC is good, no doubt about that, but there gym is also hard to win in....I think someone told me that JC boys have lost one district game at home since they moved to single a, that's quiet and accomplishment. So its not so easy to just go in their in win...This PC team is good, they have played every team in district tough with the exception of Clay, but have yet to play them in the second half of the season.
  11. Actually '97 was an off year as well....That teams only accomplishment was getting to the district finals.. So that would actually make this the second off year in the last twenty years..but that is still pretty good....This team has won 6 games, I don't call that just fine...This team will compete next year and the year after, and for possibly 5 more years....This team was in both of the games you mentioned....but lets not say we won that game and the refs beat us out of it....was that a foul? oh yeah, and I think even some from JC will agree, but Joe Dowdy had free throws to tie or win the game, and missed both of them....If we could shoot free throws, under pressure especially, we could have won that game and many others....So lets blame that on our lack of free throw shooting and not the missed call. This team will be scary when they get to tournament, just depends on which team shows up, will it be the team against Clarkrange and Jackson Co or the team against York and Russellville?
  12. It helps that JC is one of the largest schools in single a, I mean they do have one of the biggest student bodies in single a to choose their players from...But still Coach Flynn always impresses me with how he just never has a down year really. I think JC has finished in the top three in the district every year since they moved down to single a. A lot of that has to do with them moving down and being one of the bigger schools, and a lot of credit goes to Coach Flynn. I tell ya, as a die hard PC fan, I still put Coach Flynn right there with Coach Bibb as the best two coaches in 7a, and I think I'd be happy with either one of them as my coach.
  13. Ummm....he is my brother, and I am not catchpc10 dude....I know my brother shouldn't be getting anymore playing time than any of the other freshman because he is exactly that....a freshman....I'm pretty sure that he'll be one of the best players in the freshman class and he'll be a pretty good one by the time he is a junior and everything the doctors have told him he's gonna be 6'4 or 6'5...so with that and once he puts some weight on, learn to play defense and he learns all of Coach Bibb's offensive and defensive sets he'll be good. He just needs time, not many players are good enough to get to play much as freshman.....I know I wasn't....but I will say this, I do wish that all the freshman that don't get to play and go to practice and work hard, i am saying all five of them, should get in at the end of blow out games, but thats my opinion and it doesn't mean much, I know Coach Bibb knows what he's doing...But I have opinions and you have opinions and we all have them....doesn't mean we're right, just mean we have an opinion. I think everyone thinks I was catchpc because several years ago I told some guys that it was me to throw them off who I really was, but that was another address, not catchpc10....I've had this one for a couple of years and most everyone knows who I am. I have no opinions on Coach Bibb, because I know he knows more than I do....I'm just an old cat fan, who is not enjoying having a losing season and is frustrated and sometimes say things I should keep to myself and I hope no one holds that against my brother, but this season is no ones fault, just an off year for our program, Bibb will right the ship by next season, they will be back to #1 or #2 in this district.
  14. Coach Walker, is that you on here posting? I thought Coach Bibb would surely not let any of his assistants posts on here, since back in the day he wouldn't let his players read this stuff, much less write on here.....It took me a little bit to figure out why you got so mad about the topic, must have been cause catchpc was talking to you. Oh well...Good luck boys this weekend, cause i'm afraid we may need it against this good Friendship team in their building.
  15. I'm frustrated with the way this season is going as well. This season just stinks for us fans as well as the kids playing....The talent will hopefully be there and hopefully Coach Bibb will right the ship next season...If not, maybe the year after. This team is greatly improved 1-9 players...but I too would like to see all of the freshman get 4 or 5 mins at the end of these big losses or big wins. Good luck the rest of the way boys!
  16. yeah definitely bad officiating in both games, on both teams. PC played better in this one, and kept it closer. Dunn didn't play that much, but PC played well against the 2nd team mostly. Basically the same game plan fro La as in the last game, PC just had a better showing.
  17. fine by me, i've been ready to stop for weeks.
  18. You have told me twice that Arms played at Tech, but you have yet to tell me when he played at Celina. I didn't mention Eric because I didn't know if Arms played before or after Mitchell. I'll agree, Joseph Amonett is by far the best player to ever grace the halls of PC, but Nathan Aaron is the all time leading scorer (3003 pts) he's better than Shawn. I'll give you the list of the top five scorers in PC history, and all of them are better than Shawn Garrett now, or when by the time he graduates. Nathan Aaron 3003 pts, finalist for Mr. Basketball, played at Freed Hardmen University 2) Joseph Amonett 2940 pts, won a Mr. Basketball in 1995, played atWake Forrest Univesity 3) Eric Mitchell 2476 pts, won Mr. Basketball in 1990, played at Tennessee Tech University 4)Eugene Parris 2373 pts, won Mr. Basketball in 1991, and 5) Jacob Wright, 2183 pts. So of that list you've got 3 Mr. Basketball winners, who are much better than Shawn at this point, and a Mr. Basketball finalist who is better than Garrett. Jacob Wright is the only one to never be a Mr. Basketball candidate, and I still think his game was better. I have no doubt that Garrett "can" play at the next level, but it will be at a small school, possibly jr. college like Roane State or Vol State, but lets not put him in the same category as these guys. Don't put him up their with Arms and Coe either, cause that is insulting to these guys who accomplished so much. This kid has one thing "potential" and he needs to achieve that before we start putting him in the class of other players. He's not even the best player in this district folks, Upchurch is better at this point.
  19. I heard FC was in the top ten in the state? Any chance for PC to play with them tonight?
  20. When did Arms play? Cause you tell me and I'll tell you how many people PC has had that are better than Shawn Garret will ever be and how many people PC has had that have been better since then. He's a GOOD player, I'll give you that. He plays his position very well. But he's not better than Jacob Wright, he's not better than Joseph Bailey, he's not better than Nathan Aaron, he's not better than some other guys that PC had that didn't play college ball, like John Crouch and Josh Wright. I'm not dissing the kid, I know he is talented in his own way, but Arms and Joey Coe are probably the only great players Clay Co has ever had and Shawn is not close to Joey, I think Joseph Amonett is the only player in 7a that is even in the same dicussion. At Shawn's size, he is gonna have to learn to play point guard or shooting guard to transition to the next level. Listen Jacob Wright was a 6'0 a great a shooter as this district has ever seen, and could handle the ball against anyone, and he only had interest from small schools. What I'm trying to say is, Jacob Wright was a far more complete talent than Garrett so he needs to work hard to get more complete, and I'm sure he will.
  21. I think the other poster was talking about the girls. I don't think anyone on this board from PC expects us to win more than 3 district games on the boys side, but on the girls side..... They put a scare into Clarkrange, it was four points at half. The Jackson Co. game was a terribly called game for both teams, with both teams having a tremendous amount of fouls called. It would have been closer if PC didn't have 4 starters foul out. Their is no excuse for the clay co lose for that loss. Nor the Monterey loss. All I will say about all these loss-Clay co, is that none of those games was Tarah Garner available. If she had played against Clarkrange, they might just have knocked them off. I think it is very possible for this team to end the season no worse than 5-5, and its definitely possible to go 6-4. They are playing a totally different and offense and defensive game than they did in the first half.
  22. Coach Walker? a good coach? Come on guys, don't think for one moment he is a good coach. I'm not saying this from my experience, because I never played for Walker. I'm going from what the guys have told me who have played for him the last couple of years in JV. I have no idea how Walker got the job. You guys know that this guy sat at the end of the bench for all four years of high school right? If this was karate, then I'd want Walker teaching these kids, cause he knows it. But he has no idea how to coach basketball, I'm glade he has an interest in these kids, but you have to know a little something about basketball. As for Bibb, he's doing the best with what he's got this year, and in a couple of years, he is gonna have a good team, maybe even next year. If he can get an assistant coach, to help develop the younger freshman and sophomores, then they will stay good. Coach Smith? I hope your not talking about me on this one, I've sung his praises from day one. Thought he was the right hire, thought he has done a great job, finally got us back to region last year. And now, he's starting to get this team playing good ball, he's installed a different direction and offense and defense, which I'll let you see for yourself, because I don't wanna give anything away. This girls team can play with anyone in the state, thing is, the other two best teams in the state may be in their own district, but they only need to beat one of them.
  23. Boys won tonight by 3 is what my dad told me over the phone, no other details. Said the girls won their first game today, and said they played tonight as well.
  24. I heard that they lost their 1st game by 16 pts @ the tournament. Really not a big surprise here.
  25. Pickett Co. girls and boys are both playing up in russellville, ky the next three days. I have no idea who they are playing but I've got someone who is gonna be at the games and call me and tell me scores and stuff. I'll post them and stuff on here. Hope the boys can go up there, and just get away from everyone and come together as a team and get ready for the second half of the season.
