MBA wins a thriller over McCallie, 23-20, with Johnothon Moore scoring the go ahead TD with 1:00 to go.  MBA sealed the victory with an int in the end zone with 6 seconds remaining.

But wow, I mean, Bravo to the Chattanooga refs, you guys really outdid yourselves with this one.  I know we have a problem in TN with a shortage of officials, so I really am loathe to criticize refs, but this was an absolute abomination.  9 penalties for MBA for 110 yards (which doesn't do justice to how many long gains they wiped out, including what should have been a go ahead 60 yard TD pass with 6:00 to play) versus 4 for 35 for McCallie.

    Some highlights:

15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on our coach, for, after the refs refused to acknowledge him calling time out, running up to one of them to call time out

15 yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on the team for "excessive celebration" after a fumble recovery in McCallie territory, because "players ran on the field from the sideline" um, the players in question were the offense, who I'm pretty sure have to be on the field for the game to resume

5 yard "offensive offsides"  Never heard of that one, but maybe they got confused and meant to say illegal procedure or illegal formation.  Nope, none of that happened.  Mystery call there

After big 3rd down conversion from Marcel Reed on a run into MCCallie territory, an obvious helmet to helmet targeting happens, with Marcel Reed's helmet ending up flying off.  Refs throw the flag, so we assume we have a first down, with 15 more to be added on.  Nope, what else but holding on us, and now our QB has to leave the game because his helmet came off.  So now we have 3rd and 20 at midfield with a back-up QB in the game

I don't know what the final tally was on holding penalties called against us was (I lost count), but pretty amazing that McCallie, with basically an entire new O Line from last year, managed to not hold one time during the game.

Very proud of MBA for gutting out that win with that complete clown show.

Imagine this post if MBA would have lost the game. :-)

Last night on Twitter, Kreager said the injury was not as serious as it appeared. I have not seen anything today.

Let's hope he is OK. He laid motionless on the ground for a really long time.

  3. Teams that should concern McCallie - (1) Father Ryan (2) Baylor (3) MBA. While I feel McCallie is way ahead when it comes to overall talent, on any given night, with the right motivation, any of these three teams could pull the upset.

  4. I'm a McCallie fan (just to be clear). Don't know much about MBA except they are in the final game. It does seem like MBA is trending a little more positive than McCallie.

It is also very difficult to beat the same high quality team twice in this division.

Not sure if BJ Harris will play Thursday. He could be the difference maker.

Bottom line - close game all the way. Team with less mistakes will win. Of course.

    Heart - McCallie 31 MBA 27

    Head - Pick-em.

The fact that McCallie beat Ensworth without their main running back speaks volumes about the kid who lead them to victory.  Do you actually think they would have won if DeAngelo missed the game and Harris played?

I don't think McCallie has played MBA this season so beating them twice is not an issue.

Eric Rivers has certainly been an added benefit this season, but the main man in McCallie's offense has been DeAngelo Hardy.

Delo showed everybody last week why he should have been a finalist for the Mr Football award ... and he's not through proving that fact.

Yup, my bad about MBA. Confused with BA.

And I did not say McCallie would be better with Harris "in place of" Hardy. I said Hardy would be better with Harris on the field with him.

thats what the Baylor folks over at the Suk Creek campus were sayin bout that new recruit they brought down from Haslams School up in Knoxville.....MBA shut him down completely....and sent their new most largest fan Sparty completely off the grid

    Booger just sayin

DeAngelo's effectiveness will be helped tremendously if BJ Harris is able to play. Also, DeAngelo needs to value the football a little better.

The hardest thing is beating the same team twice in the same season.

Watch out for Eric Rivers in the passing game. He has become quite a weapon.

great game at Turner stadium last evenin.....congrats to The Turner School....great to finally have a chattanooga big boy school reppin for the city and area.....smallest semi-final crowd Booger ever seen.....can only image how small and bad it will b for the Gold Ball contest.....

...were impressed how Turners School were able to move that pigskin up and down the field without the use of a RB....and speekin of RBs...Ensworth absolutely had 0 run game....if they do..they go to the Gold Ball contest with ease........that Turner School better find use for that RB after the layoff.....gonna need it gainst that MBA defense

....go Twisters......and find sum support to put in your stands....been to 2 D2-AAA games the last 2 weeks to see some of the best football games Booger seen in a couple years.....but the fan support at both the Baylor/MBA      McCallie/Ensworth games r the worse Booger seen in many many years.....actually Ensworth had the best support of all of them..,..

    ....MBA/Turner School gonna b a great matchup

    Booger just sayin :thumb:

Sadly, the McCallie crowd was small and quiet. Ensworth's contingent, while smaller in number, was louder and much more enthusiastic.  Over the 13 years I've been attending McCallie games, I've found our fans to be rather complacent.

Absolutely zero traction on the south side of the 50. It'll only be worse than it was 4 weeks ago.

Yet Clearwater Academy had two running backs gain over 150 yards each in those same conditions. They must have picked the right shoes.

if your plannin on goin to Turners school for the contest gainst that Frist School.....u better b for pullin out some serious wet weather gear no doubt.....thinkin without a doubt that Zeus has stuck his nose into Boogers Pickins aand givin McCallie the advantage to win this thing.....

....as for the battle out west.....Zeus may have takin MUS's payback win away from them....MBA and that incredible defense and staff can now focus fully on Kendall...thinkin that MUS QB want b much threat in water

    Booger just sayin

If you watched the game against Clearwater Academy, you would know that adverse conditions are not an advantage for McCallie. It is just the opposite imho.

Hope MBA and Ensworth play for championship.

Heard that Potter was not upset at loss to Ensworth as it keep his nemesis out of the playoffs.

Potter accepting of a loss to any team, for any reason, is an absurd thought.

Your source is wrong. May be time to get a new one.

I’d know before anyone on this board. That is for sure. I’ve know the kid since 7th grade. Really dislike the starting of false rumors of kids.

Shouldn't have posted anything until I was more sure...my bad.

  12. After reading through these posts, I was expecting a 50 point blowout by McCallie last night. But Father Ryan was ready to play and I was very impressed with their enthusiasm,  effort,  and execution. McCallie played better and harder in the second half and pulled away. But Father Ryan's team can hold their heads high. They were a tough bunch.

So two years ago I was leading the Big Games in a Memphis contest and would have won had I kept playing. I used cal preps to score every matchup

I’ll do the same here McCallie 35 -17

upsets happen especially in this league and this year who knows. I stick to my thought that BA is still the best team in D2 aaa at the end of the year provided they are healthy and continue to gel as a team

but it’s wide open. I just don’t know if Baylor can run on McCallie even without Hardy - I think Jordan James and the BA line is as good as any and McCallie did a great job on them.

BA had to mix it up - throwing 8 times may not be enough

    but who knows

This is a pretty rationale assessment. Before Hardy's injury I thought McCallie would probably win by 14. But now I think it is a pretty evenly matched game. Slight nod to McCallie but only because that is my desired outcome.

  14. The player that injured Hardy is a sophomore WR named Oscar Delp (@delposcar). He led their team in total yards with 43 or so. He's 6' 4" and 205 pounds.

He has been kicked off the team and he admitted he did purposely injure Hardy.

Pretty certain Coach Potter was avoiding a potential brawl by having his players not shake hands. The McCallie players had to be livid and it was a smart move by Potter to keep the players separated.

  15. McCallie's top 250 player, DE Jay Hardy was injured last night in a game against West Forsyth, GA. The sad part is it happened on an extra point when a player purposely threw his body at Jay's knees from the side. It was obvious and very dirty. I hope it is just a sprained MCL and not a season ending tear.

    Go Blue.
