  1. 12-2 record (5-1 vs AAA) TOUGH LOSS TO HILLTOPPERS IN EARLY SEASON AFTER LEADING BY 15. 100 POINTS VS VOLUNTEER FALCONS. HOW DOES THIS TEAM RANK WITH PREVIOUS YRS TEAMS? HOW FAR DO THEY GO THIS YR? VERY TOUGH MATCHUP WITH JOHNSON COUNTY COMING UP

Unicoi seems like a very good team this year that deserves respect across the area no matter the classification. I also think they might have the best coach in the area, Coach English seems like a guy players would love to play for and would hustle their butts off for.

  2. Not many of our kids can make to away games. As many students as Central had that night they werent very loud. I think our 40 students was just as loud as their 200. Plus all their student section did the first half was complain about us and all they did in the second half was sit there on thier hands. Wait till the CCCCouger Den comes to the PATRIOT PALACE and meets up with Patriot Nation you will see loud. I promise it will be louder than the CCCCouger Den has ever been. Do u want to see an example of how loud we are at home? Come tonight, we play Virgina High at 8.

    I am the PATRIOT NATION

Dare I say that your post just proved our dominance as a student section. You referred to the C-C-C ou cheer that we have made famous through out the years. When it all comes down to it,the good teams usually have some of the loudest student sections. East has a loud student section THIS year, however,I think that is just the product of having a good team for the first time in a while. Central has had a solid student section for about 4 years now.

Either way, good teams get the job done no matter the student section, tonight,we will see who can get it done because Tenn High and Central both need this game tonight.

  3. South will be good next year, don't get me wrong, but no where near what they were this year. Yes, the coaching over there is good, but ultimately its the players that count. I think that Fletcher kid and Kitzmiller will be players to watch. However, next year, South won't be taking the MLC title. It will be a dog fight between THS and Johnson County. Both teams were young this year, and will loose few starters. THS looses hardly any of their offense and Johnson County looses maybe a couple starters on both sides of the ball if that. I expect South to do no worse than 3rd in the conference. As much as I love my Vikings, I have to be worried about Johnson County next year. They have been pushed around for the past couple years by South and THS and next year, I believe we both play them on the mountain which will be tough. It will be tough to tell though -- until next year!!!!

Johnson Country will not challenge for the conference title next year. They will be solid, but they are just too small. I know Greeneville had small def tackles, but Johnson County's are really smal, like what seem to be 150 lb smalll. Tenn High and South will be able to run over them. Especially with the loss of Leonard,he brought a physical mentality to their team this year, someone is going to have to fill that role. It will be Tennessee High and South again for the conference title. Elizabethton and East will both be solid, and I think next year Central turns the corner and wins about 4 games. The athletes, coaches, and teams overall in the Mountain Lakes seem to get better by the year.

  4. I agree, what's your prediction on TH at Central this coming Fri? The Cougars have been playing alot better lately, not being selfish and working it inside and out. You can't forget about the Cougar Nation in the stands either, they are arguably the best student section in Big 9. Let's hear your thoughts and not your bashings.

This year Central has the type of team and PG to beat Tenn High. Our PG this year likes to drive and kick, which helps get better shots for the wings against that zone. It comes down to rebounds, free throws, and turnovers. Tn High isn't going to turn it over very much,so Central is going to have to limit theirs. Central is going to have to hold Tn High to one shot about 80% of the time to win. I feel like this game is a 5 point game that could go either way. But because its at Central,I'll give those 5 points to the Cougars.

    SCHS-55

    THS-50

  5. I am excited to see what the Sullivan Central's student section is going to bring this year. I was quite impressed last season and I hear they will be just as good as last year. I know it has to be hard playing at the Cougar Dome.

Size wise Central's crowd will probably be pretty large again. However the goal is to remove some vulgarity and add a little wit.It will still be a great home court advantage.

  6. Please tell me whats wrong with the "Flack Bandwagon"? I think the Kid will suprise alot of you this season.

And so will many other posts. But what i dont understand is Flack isnt goin to go to college as a post, ive asked him myself. As we all know, he doesnt like to Bump and push inside, we've seen it. So yes he might not be the best post, but he has also worked on his outside game. wich will be essential for his team this year and the next 4 years in college. Any player 6'7'' and taller that has a outside to go along with a decent inside. thats RARE. and concidering hes 6'9''.... MAJOR Plus. and even more RARE to have all those Attributes.

I think ull want to change alot of players around after the season starts! /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

    VK.

Maybe the problem is he is 6'9 and hasn't seen the floor for 2 years. And if he shoots better than 37% from 3 this year, since he has an outside game,I will take back every statement I have ever made. I just don't see it. He is 6'9,has soft touch around the goal, the kid should dominate. And I may want to change players around. But that's the point of these things, you gotta get your feet wet and know what to expect a little from each school. So, if he does as good as you say,I will be eating some crow, I know that. Thats a big if though.

    /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  7. Alright, fair enough. I have personally never seen him shoot well from outside. But, I will give it to him that he cant get to the basket and is a good leader for them. Also good passer.

All I am saying is he shot good when I saw him play. And,I couldn't think of anyone else to put. There may be others, but I don't know them off the top of my head. I am sure there are some from the IMAC or Knoxville area that can shoot great too,but all I know is Big 9. Agree to Disagree ya know.

  8. Yeah I think that Flack is pretty bad for his height considering the competition he should dominate each game NO MATTER WHAT! He fades away on guys that are shorter than him and doesn't finish strong around the basket. But he IS 6'9 and will get some big point totals just because of that. Therefore he will score around 15 points a game. Then with his height he will get high rebound totals. He would still kill Albright. That dude is like 6'3 and is goofy. 6'3 is a guard for a team like DB. Albright might play alright against Crockett, East, and Volunteer where they dont have much size. But in comparison to Edwards, Hardy, Gray, Flack, Turnbull, and Adams (though he is a 3 mainly, he will play in the post a lot cause he is the tallest player for SH) He will not have a chance.

I guess we can only wait to see them play. I am looking forward to being proven right here though.

  9. Young is a really good slasher but not a great shooter. Just my opinion. He is what makes Tenn. High go though. Doesn't get to use his great on ball defense as much because they run that zone.

Maybe he was just on when I watched him. He made us pay for leaving him open though.

  10. My list in this order.......

    1. Jordan Edwards

    2. Ashlon Adams

    3. Bronson Flack (not that good but he is 6'9 and also the rest of compet. is not very good)

    4. Dionte Gray

    5. Tenn. High post cant remember his name

    6. Kyle Barnes (East)

    7. Marshall Hardy (DB)

    8. Mason Canty (Tenn. High)

    9. Darren Riggs (DB)

    10. Central Kid about 6'7 no skills but he is tall and he will have a couple of big games

Albright will surprise you. And I would put Adams in there, but he plays more of the 3 man I always thought, thats why I left him off the list. And I forgot Turnbull too. But Albright will surprise people, and I will never jump on the Flack bandwagon.

  11. 1. Isaac Snapp, can shoot off the dribble, off a screen, and with a defender on him.

And then, in no particular order.

Jason Rock- Interesting shot, but if he gets his feet set, I always expect it to go in.

McConnel- Did see the game where he hit 8 three's. Still wanna see how confident he is in a varsity game though.

Keith Cradic-Streaky shooter, seems to make everything in the 4th quarter.

Corey Young-Don't leave him open, makes TN High go.

I know my choices are big 9 Bias. But those are the only guys I see. I am sure there are other great shooters out there, but that is my top 5.

  12. Jordan Edwards-DB

    Kyle Barnes-Sullivan East

    Patrick Albright-Sullivan Central

    Dionte Gray-Science Hill

Not necessarily in that order, but I would guess those are the 4 that will be on first and second team all conference at the end of the year.

  13. Jason Rock from Central shoots the 3. If he hits a couple in a row you better make sure someone is in his face the rest of the night,or he will send you home crying.

Also. I am not a hater. But those 2 db guys you mentioned, that only played JV last year. Do they have nerves of steel, because I think I have seen Charlie Morgan psyche some people out. Like get them thinking if they miss a shot they are coming out of the game, that may affect some of these guys with no varsity experience. I am just curious to your opinions on that or if that has any truth to it at all.

    Go Cougars!

  14. i will put my opinion down also.

1 josh odem (very thin kid, but super quick)

2 spencer (dont kno much on him)

3 josh smith (has lock down D)

4 Ashlon (very athletic, Junior right?)

5 Dionte (big framed boy. Lefty)

    DB predictions.....

1 Tremell McGue or Jamell (i know thats his name, but not sure on spelling.)

2 Sylvester or Adam Lytle (Both extremely athletic.)

3 Reed King comes first for me because hes a senior. then Todd or Dustin.

4 Flack or the long Riggs Kid. (the kid has hands like no other!)

5 i would just say Hardy then Edwards, and yet again. Seniority.

    Any1 else?

Science Hill will probably move Chris Smith to the 2 guard and start that Danny Avery guy at the 3 spot.

  15. When you say Best all-round post player.... Jordan Edwards.....

The way Coach Charley Morgan runs the Dobyns Bennett Program usually consists of Experience, Seniority, and Athletics. Now Im not saying Edwards isnt an athlete, just saying that there are Deffinatly more posts that can dish out stats for DB then Just Edwards and his "finishing with the contact." I wouldnt forget about Marshall Hardy. I think hes 6'4'' or 6'5''? and weighs more then Edwards?? correct me if Im wrong.

From what i hear, hes worked hard and is going to be a Ox Inside for DB. Id lean toward all posts and not just singleing out 1 individual post, Jordan has another year also. he has a good future ahead of him.

But the Maturity and Experience will come to the fore front soon.

Im really looking forward to seeing this Team play together, sounds like they got good chemistry this season!!

I would still take Edwards. I like how you quoted me saying finishing with contact like it wasn't a good thing. I would love to have a post player who constantly gets And 1's. I won't disagree that DB has other talented post players,an early poster said Flack may be POTY in the conference though. And I find that hard to believe when I don't think he is even the best post player on his team. Certain teams will just push him around. I also forgot about Barnes from East and a sleeper is Albright,a junior from Central,as far as best all around post players in the conference.

And I don't know much about Maryville, but I do know they had a guy who was going to UT on a football scholarship. And that is what I said, this area(Big 9,IMAC) does not have the Athletes to compete with Memphis teams. I guess when I said East TN I should have been more focused on those 2 conferences. Frankly,I can't believe we are even talking about state when a regular season game hasn't been played, thats another story though.

Anybody got any players we should expect break out years from?

  16. This is not Jason Rock. Good guess though. Interesting you would say riding the pine, considering Jason actually plays on a team. All I am saying is Boone won't finish third. And I am fine by letting people's play on the court decide that.

  17. BOTH Science Hill and DB make it to the State Tournament. Justin Sylvester wins MVP, and the BOLDEST of ALL Dobyns Bennett wins the state tournament. Its a stretch, but the other teams in 3aaa are down and this just might be a BIG 9 CONFERENCE teams year to win it all. And that might be Dobyns Bennett.

DB to win state is ridiculous. You saying Bronson Flack as contending for player of the year may be more ridiculous. Jordan Edwards is their post stud. Bronson shys away from contact,Edwards is gonna take the contact and finish. DB has the best all around guard-Sylvester, and post player-Edwards, in the conference. I say all around because Sylvester can shoot, pass, handle the ball, and play D,no other guard can do all those. And they are just juniors. The state prediction for them even next year would be ridiculous. Teams from this area just cannot match up athletically with teams from Memphis. It would take a virtuoso performance in the Boro for East TN teams to win it.

Despite all those,I say DB wins the conference but in a fashion similar to last year. Start off slow, then get the ball rolling at the end. No big 9 team will go undefeated in conference play. And I think that the conference is pretty good this year,I would not be surprised at all if when regionals comes around it looks like a repeat of the district tournament.

    Goooooo Cougars.
