  1. Au Contraire, Mon Frere

    You were most certainly there

OK, Nice work. You got me.

I went too far, I know it. I let my emotions get the best of me this season. I let people close to me influance my judgement and I screwd up. I am an idiot. I will never post to, or visit this site again.

I am truely sorry for my actions.

  2. - Yes, Freeacen looked kinda sad at the game last night.

    - I wonder why he hasn't posted on that game yet?

    - Is he getting nervous? Has he been found out?

    - More details to come in this mystery that the inspector is unwraveling!

Yes, nice trench coat and hat you where wearing by the way.

Sounded to me like Peabody put up a pretty good fight. Even threw the ball a little.

    Why? Dude I'm not gay.

Wow I have a stalker! What is that about?

  3. Some folks like to take things out of context on this site. I made an attempt at sarcasim, it was not an attack on a young man doing his best. I appologize if it appears to be anything other than a that.

A poster was pointing out Peabody can't throw the ball. I was making the point we can run it, and will.

  4. Man I wish I could make this one!

Should be a lot of fireworks.

I think the JCS defense will step up and play thier best game of the season.

    I'm going with JCS 34 USJ 31.

GL to both teams and stay safe to, from, and during the game. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  8. If you would go get your degree and teacher certification, then convince someone to hire you - with your experience as a message board analyst - then serve as an assistant coach for a number of years on your way to the top - your answer is to do what the kids want?

My answer would be to do what ever had to be done. Call a meeting with the team leaders, replace team leaders. (shake things up), open up some spots to comp., and/or move some coaches around.

  9. In his defense - I think Prince would be tarred and feathered if he didn't pick Peabody - he is the Middle School coach. And I also think he was trying to bring the conversation back to the game. Good to see you on the boards, Coach, and refreshing to see someone willing to use his real name. By the way - good job this season. Freeacen says you are doing good work. I didn't get to see a middle school game.

As far as the game on Thursday, I think Milan takes this one - but maybe not quite as easily as everyone is thinking. These Trenton-Milan games have become battles in the last few years. It will be physical, and the game won't last long with it being 98% running. All Trenton needs is 3.5 yards per carry and it is a game. In the end Milan just has more athletes with more experience.

I think you have it right Voodoo. But lets hope we are WRONG about the outcome!

  10. Well, to be honest, I've been in it a while, and I've seen stranger things happen.

Hey Coach, congrats on a great season.

I came to the Martin game this year to see what all the fuss was about. The kids looked good even in the loss. Keep up the good work!

  11. Thanks for the explanations. I was just curious of some thoughts about this. Last season DCA came over to the East and that same region had teams playing in the West. Guess they wanted the privates to have a fighting chance to get to the Bluecross bowl and play each other. I'm sure they would not give a Westmoreland the same opportunity to play against a York or Smith County in the Bluecross bowl. Not saying any would beat Alcoa but in reality that is what your doing when you let 1 region go to the East and the West. Your giving that region a shot to play 2 teams into the championship game. Last season if I'm correct DCA won that region and were the team they were lucky enough to have to play Alcoa in the Semifinals.

A DCA / Milan semi would be very interesting. Either direction DCA goes there is a beast waiting.

  12. Coaches haven't "made the turn"? Does that mean the coaches "made the turn" last year with the playoff win vs. Milan and, in the words of Phillip Fulmer, got dumb overnight?. Get real Tide fans, there are down years. True fans stick with their team.

I can assure you I am a true fan. And I will continue to be. I have seen down years before.

However I can't stand not trying. The kids are giving all they have. Why do we not hold our staff to that standard?

And to answer your question, no the coaches did not make the turn last year, or they would be trying in some way to right the ship. Instead they are just maintaining the status quo. Thats not good enough anymore.

  13. Here's some football talk:

Peabody likes to run, a lot. Milan's defense is statistically the best in the region, giving up 113 ypg.

So, I'm wondering if the Golden Tide defense will be able to stop the Milan offense.

The Bulldogs have a strong running game, as well as a solid quarterback and really good passing game.

We have a couple of very strong backs, if the linemen for Peabody decide to block this week, look for that average to go up. Gilbert will get his yards, the one that scares me is that dang QB, he may run wild.

Our kids will play thier best game of the year.......it is Milan after all. They will leave it all on the field, but I can't see this game being close.

  14. Freeacen,

Although your statements are correct, they are kinda like the Warren Sapp hit on Chad Clifton - they do more than border on harsh.

And to be honest, I don't think being the son of a coach has anything to do with this one. There just isn't anyone else to put in at that position. If there is, please let me know. Name him. The backups are Jerry Rogers and John Warmeth - neither of which are anywhere near being able to actually run the offense, even as simple and predictable as it is. Rogers would have never been able to run 48 yards for a TD from a QB sneak, and Warmeth should be a guard.

Looking at other kids who would be called "skilled" that could occupy the QB position quickly gets you to no one. Johnson doesn't have the game knowledge or the presence, Collier is constantly getting hurt and missing games, and there is just no one else - unless you dip down into the 9th or 8th grade.

Isn't there an 8th grade QB that looks good for down the road?

As far as puttin 10 in the box and all the sacks - that is a coach's responsibility. Peabody hasn't tried to formation anyone out of 10 in the box, and there is no way to block that many people. Hence the sacks. When you constantly line up with two tight ends, you don't even offer the threat of a quick 2-3 yard hitch.

I agree with you on some things - like the utter predictability and lack of imagination of the offense - but saying Lumley is playing just b/c his dad is freshman coach is, in my opinion, just unfounded.

I just really think we are that bad - period. And next year isn't looking any better with the loss of Jones and Stayton and the big senior linemen. I think the freshmen haven't won a game and have few to no skilled players. All linemen.

I would like the Rodgers kid to get a chance to show what he's got. From what I understand, the kids feel the same way. I also have heard since the start of the year, he looked better than Lumley in the scrimages. The kids however knew he would not get a chance to play.

I say why not try. What could it hurt? At worst the kid gains some game time. At best we find a better QB. (MAYBE THIS IS THE PROBLEM)

I understand we are down, we lack a lot of "skill players", and we don't have many options. I understand we have to run the ball, no problem there. But can we not at least try to improve in some way? Why does Peabody football have to be "Good enough"? Why can't we have a higher standard? Why are we not allowed to have the highest expectations for our kids......like Milan? I truely had hoped we rounded a corner last year. Looks like the coaches haven't made the turn. /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

    ROLL TIDE

  15. Martin is not the same team as last year! Not even close!

G.C. can win this game. Stop the run stop the run stop the run!

    Problem is.......stoping the run.

Do what you did against Peabody (without giving up the big plays) and get the "W".

If not, it's going to be a long night.

    Stay tuned........

    Prediction to come!

  16. IF the break is 400 (Middleton High School) who will be the top three teams in each division of the state?

Here is the way I see things in the west.........

2A Mckenzie, Peabody, and TCA (or Humboldt) should be the top three on this end of the state.

1A Union City, Hollow Rock-Bruceton, and Huntingdon (or Lake Co.)

Whats it look like in your area?

  17. 2004: Peabody (1-4) comes to Milan (4-1) on homecoming and beats the Bulldogs, 21-14. Peabody finishes the season 2-8; Milan goes 9-5 and loses in the state semifinals. That might not happen this week, but here's a reminder to take this game (somewhat) seriously.

That said, Peabody's QB is 7 of 35 for 108 yards, 0 TD and 5 INT this season.

Milan won't have to worry about the pass.

Son of a coach, 40 yard sack taker, never throws the ball away, etc., etc.

No matter, put 10 in the box, we are running up the middle all night. Just like we did in '04.

  18. Just a note - this game will be at 7 p.m., not 7:30, this Thursday night in Milan.

    Yep.....lets get it over. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />

Milan will wipe Trenton off the face of the Earth. It wont be close after the first quarter. Sorry Trenton, but it's true.

    Thanks for the pep talk. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
