The Asberry #44 and Stephens #12 and Williams #32 from York. All three were good last year they led the team in scoring and rebounds and they are working real hard to improve this off season. I look for those three to have a great season.

LA will be tought again this year and the next because have several talented players. I am looking forward to the coming season because I look for this district to be much iinproved this year and have some close games. Congrats to them for their strong performance in the camps. I look forward to watching them play our team this year.

lol i doubt he even gets sophmore of the year i bet it goes to the reigning freshman of the year Gavan Cook cause he'll be better than last year thats for sure and i havent even ever heard of this Key kid

Derwin Wright is coming back to coach the boys team at York.

Well i do beleive that LA will be good jsut like usual and yes york is gettin another coach this season but it is also the same coach they had 2 years ago which took the team to region which is farther than have been in a while and this year he has more talent than he did 2 years ago coming in with 6 seniors who have played 2gether all their lives and with the freshman of the year gavan cook distributing he has Stephens which led them in scoring last season and Williams who didnt play near as much as he should've shooting the 3 and Maynard and Asberry who can jump out of the gym and a couple talented guys off the bench so if you ask me i beleive that you may be overlookin York just a little.....im not saying they'll be first but definately not last or close 2 the bottom

For the record it did cost more than $125.00 for each player to go!!! The players had to work the football games and each game they worked they would get $25.00 toward their trip money for costs. If a player did not work enough games they did not have enough money in their account to pay for everything. Parents also could work and help raise their child's money for the trip. Some parents worked and only received credit for $12.50 instead of the full $25.00 which wasn't fair to the player. If the player did not have the full amount in the account their parents had to pay for the rest of the trip. So for your information it DID cost more than $125.00. You need to get your story straight before you say anything. It is the players choice if they decide not to play. All sports at YAI is screwed up because of the changing coaches and that has a lot to do with the players decisions on playing or not,-----baseball,basketball etc.... Each year they have to get used to another coach and their way of training and I guess the players are getting feed up with it. Also, how do you know for a FACT these two boys had paid for their trip??????????

Losing both players hurt the York team. I have watched all of these boys play ball their entire life in my opinion and their previous coaches opinions these were the best 2 middle infielders York had. The kid they put in at 2nd base is a very good player but he hasn't developed the range the other one had yet but I'am sure he will. First of all this all started over the trip to Fla. It wasn't a mandatory trip and only the upper classmen were suppose to go. more on that in a minute. The day before their first game a player told the coach that the 2nd baseman left practice early so the coach benched him for the first game of a double header. Why wasn't the coach at practice? He puts a freshman in at 2nd base. The next game he sticks the 2nd baseman in right field and leaves the freshman in at 2nd. Wouldn't this make you mad. The day he quit the coach tells the rest of the team that he really didn't consider him as part of the team. If the coach had thought that shouldn't he have been trying to find out what was wrong. The short stop decided not to go on the trip to Fla and was suspended for 2 games. When his suspension was up the coach told him he was starting in the out field. That made him mad and he quit. The trip to Fla was only to be upper classmen. The coach decided to take 1 freshman. The rest of the freshmen didn't get to go. What does that tell the rest of the upper classmen what their coach thinks of them. There is some talented boys on that bench. This is info I have been told from the boys involved not heresay. This team sould have been alot better than it was. But their is no desire there.

York should have had a really good team this year beacause it would have been 2 years in a row these boys had played together. But for the 3rd year ia a row they changed coaches and the one they got ran off the two best middle infielders on the team. Good job. Upperman has done a great job with their program i look for them to remain undefeated this year.

York is 1 and 3 in the district

York is returning with the same team as last year. They didn't lose anyone. But I believe the road will still go through the bees

District 7AA will be represented by 2 outstanding teams. Good luck to all.

I have seen these teams run press defense all game. Coach Melton runs his bench in and out the entire game. I agree if he played the starters the whole game they would have won by an average of 100 points easy. From what I have always seen is that when a weaker team plays a stronger team it can't do nothing but help the weaker team get better by making them work harder. My son plays for York. York didn't have a very good team this year and the Coach was in his first year ever as a head coach. LA beat them bad every time but they improved every time. It made them realize what they needed to do to get better. Besides game situations are the best way for younger players to develop. I have no problem with LA and Upperman Coaches. A team can have all kinds of talent and still not win without a capable coach. This is the way Coach Melton and Coach McWilliams coach and it is successful for them. They win. This is only my opinion and everyone has one.

Good luck I watched the game they had against york at la. la was very focused and ran a full press the whole game. they do a good job of getting in the players heads. 2 t's in the first 3 minutes. the second was becuse a kid yell lets go defense that one was sad. You are right about being hard to play there when fans will interfere with players from opposing teams. I saw a boy in the student section kick one of the york players when he was trying to get uo off the court. This had no bearing on the game other than the fact that this kid was the first one that got t'ed up. la still had it going good. Good luck tigers I whish you well in your game.

If York continues to play like they have the past few games it will be a good one that could go either way

The Dragons have looked good in the scrimage games they have had so far. Coach Gunter will do a good job. At least he want play favorites by only playing the football players in the basketball games like Coach Wright did last year. That is the biggest reason they lost so many games.

Let's worry about next year, next year. This year is about to start and it should be fun

York will be better then you think. They always play LA tough. LA will be the team to beat

This as a good game that could have went either way. York came out on top. Good effort by both teams.

This has nothing to do with the topic. There will always be some bad fans from every school. The bottom line was it was a great game between to rival teams. Smith came out on top in the end. Get over the football snipes and move on. York doen't object to people praying on their feild, they object to opposing teams coming down to their end of the feild. Smith and York both have good basketball teams and I believe that the next meeting will be just as good. Don't be taking away from what the basketball teams are doing by referring to a football season that is over with.
