  1. The Final Scores from tonights Sequatchie Valley Jamboree in Whitwell!

    Whitwell 0

    Grundy Co. 7

    Bledsoe Co. 0

    Grundy Co. 0

    Bledsoe County 0

    South Pittburg 7

    Lookout Valley 0

    South Pittsburg 0

    Lookout Valley 0

    Sequatchie Co. 13

    Marion Co. 7

    Sequatchie Co. 0

    Whitwell 19

Marion Co. 21 (Wild Quarter of Action!) :(

I think the best looking teams were Sequatchie Co. followed closely by South Pittsburg and Marion Co. although with that last Quarter it was hard to tell what either team was like because of giving up big plays.

For as long as i can Remember! I played in the games during high schoo and have coach in it since graduating college. That span runs from 1988 to current. Since Dunlap got the new stadium in 1999 as I understand it they asked to host it the first year the stadium was finished which was ok except the field was not ready. The sod was terrible at the time and really should not have been played on in my opinion. Then it came back to Marion Co. the next year,2000, and it was voted on during the off season without a MCHS coach present, to rotate the game. I think in my own opinion it was assumed that the only ones who would want to host would be MCHS and Sequatchie Co. I that assumption was wrong. So 2001 was back in Dunlap 2002 in Whitwell I guess 2003 we will be in Grundy Co. or Lookout Valley or South Pittsburg who ever is up next. I felt like Sequatchie did a good job hosting the jamboree the last time but the gates have been better in Marion County than in Sequatchie and I thought that is what jamborees are for fund raisers. Who knows and who cares it is always a good atmosphere and a good start to football season "in the valley"!! :(

No disrespect but it should never be played at Lookout Valley because it is called "The Sequatchie Valley Jamboree" so it should stay in the Valley!

  3. Yes Dunlap has had it twice I think if haven't been to Dunlap you need to come and see our new stadium she's a beauty! We also have a nice new practice field behind the stadium that will have a track when they get put in.:)

As for as Parking we can always park at Hardee's and Walk :D:(:(

When did Boyd Buchannan stop playing in the jamboree?

(I haven't been to one in a long time)

Also, are they now rotating the site of the jamboree? It used to be in S. Pitt and Jasper on different occasions, as I recall.

I can't remember Boyd-Buchanan being in it the past 7-8 years! Notre Dame played in it for a couple of years till they started playing in Week 0 Games.

The Jamboree was scheduled to be played in Dunlap since they got the new stadium for a few years but Marion Co. didn't like the idea although it appeared that the other schools thought Sequatchie Co. did a good job hosting it. But it was decided to rotate it to schools who wanted it? Now lets just see where everyone will park tonight in Whitwell not just Fans but 7-8 Buses!!

Our network has produced a Saturday morning scoreboard show for more than 20 years which airs on various outlets throughout the state. It's a ten-minute recap of the scores from each of the state's three regions. In middle tennessee it's carried on 1450 WGNS as part of their Saturday morning recaps. I don't have an affiliate list as it's still being finalized but the show is heard all over the state, but the times vary.

    Brant Douglas, TN Radio Network

I think my local AM station has had that Scoreboard show on in the past on Saturday mornings after they rebroadcast the game from Friday Night. If its the same show I have always liked listenig to it.

are there any shows reviewing Friday nights on Saturday or Sunday??? I know the tennessean used to have one...do they still? and when does it come on? also greg pogue(?) and murphy fair used to have one...do they still??? and what channel and time and days do these shows come on?

Tim, I believe the Pogue/Fair show has been off the air for three years now. I remember it in '97 and '98 (on Fox I believe), but unless it has moved to an obscure station, I'm not sure it exists anymore. Too bad. Those guys were definitely not polished, but they provided the essentials - scores and highlights.

I think 99.7 WTN has a pretty good radio show on Friday nights.

All of the Chattanooga TV Stations have a 20-25 Minute Show on Friday Nights with Highlights & Scores! i think the only Nashville stationthat does that is Channel 2.

I was just curious as to how these scrimmages went. Anyone with any info out there? Thanks!

Grundy Co. has been quite so for this season I don't know if that's good or bad? The Grundy Co. Newspaper which usually has a lot of info on the Yellow Jackets preseason scrimmages has had nothing so for this season. We should how ever see what they South Pitt. have friday in the Jamboree.

I think ya'll have McCallie too high. I am not trying to bash them or anything but I heard they wouldn't be as good. I heard that Boyd-Buchanan easily played with or beat McCallie during a scrimmage.

McCallie is the defending State Champions so until they loose to someone they are still #1 in my book! ;)

  9. My Top 15!

    1. McCallie (Defending State Champions!)

    2. Ooltewah

    3. Baylor (Better than people think!)

    4. Tyner (Could beat anyone on a given night)

    5. East Ridge

    6. Soddy-Daisy

    7. Cleveland

    8. Red Bank

    9. Boyd-Buchanan

    10. Bradley Central

    11. Brainerd

    12. Meigs County

    13. Sequatchie County

    14. Howard

    15. Walker Valley

  11. I wish they would have it on Saturday Night all the time as one of the biggest games in the state a lot of people would like to go but don't want to miss there teams game!

I think that is one reason the Sequatchie/Grundy game is on Thursday night?

Marion Co. and S. Pitt.-What do people think about the outcome of this one and when and where is it played?

It is being played on Friday, instead of Saturday, at S. Pitt, isn't it?

CoachT, I think that is right!

I really haven't heard much about Marion other than numbers are down and haven't heard a thing about South Pittsurg. We should find out a little at the jamboree friday in Whitwell. :x

South Pitt. plays Bledsoe & Lookout Valley

    Marion Plays Sequatchie & Whitwell

It's preseason, so I'm not concerned with the out come, but the way the team looks.

Who do you guys think looks good right now?

John Simon is getting some attention. Hicks is scheduled to get a lot of carries tonight. What about him?

I really like Simon I think he can return some KO for Td's this year or at least get returns out to the 30-40 yard range instead of Taking over inside the 30!

I hope the QB's & Recievers can get it together McNair wasn't the only QB that looked bad last week although I think the WR good have helped him a little. :D

First Murphy Fair tries to change Grundy's name in the playoff program last year, and now the Times Free Press tries to do the same in their preview of the season.

    Ok boys and girls.......

All sports teams at Grundy County High School....(located in Coalmont for those of you who still want to say Tracy City) are named the Yellow Jackets. Even the football team. Just because Colquette came to the Mountain doesn't mean Grundy is changing it's nickname.

And for the record, Colquette was a Yellow Jacket before he ever was a Warrior. He played for and graduated from Grundy County.

Del (who is amazed at the folks who want to take Marion County's nickname away from them.) :o

Don't forget the boys from Pikeville they are the Warriors as well! ;)
