  1. The complicating factor for this job is that due to their continued reduction in student population, SCHS is again cutting teaching positions for next school year. This will probably force them to hire from within and limit their abilities to hire outside assistant coaches.

Not hearing good things regarding the hiring process.   Becker and Sanders better step it up, or Scott Blade will sound like a dream hire.

What are your hearing? Have they had interviews? Do they have their selection made?

Liberty Creek applied to be in 3A with the TSSAA. However, looking like they are going to be pushing 1A. Beech is losing only 80 students and Station Camp is only losing 50. Looks like Sumner County's vision of being the next Green Hills is not paying off for them.

LCHS has an enrollment of 480 as of Spring Break. Not where they wanted, but they are still actively seeking students to fill their halls.

  4. Five candidates interviewed from four different counties. Each interview was about one hour.  Candidates were told February would be the date for the announcement. Several other coaching positions have been filled but not announced.

Why were your cheerleaders and burly band people on our side of the field anyway dingus?? Yall thought that garbage was going to give you and edge that's all.  Gallatins best days are behind it.. has been for a long time. Time for a new head coach to. He has a history of cheat to win.

Interesting logic. Gloss over the mistreatment of a woman, but worry about the placement of the band and cheerleaders. (Which HC knew about and could easily see in game film.) Priorities a bit out of whack. Oh well.

As for the HC players, they were phenomenal last night.

I would personally like to thank the Green Wave band for the concert they did every time Henry County had the ball. It was like putting music to highlight plays. Really got the HC fans fired up and the HC players too. Even the coach was dancing on the field. And to top that off, when coach Counce said something to the person who appeared to be the director, she decided to try to shout him down and scold him.  He pointed to the scoreboard and walked away. Its disrespectful for a team's band to play every minute you have the ball to try to make it difficult for the coaches and players to communicate. May have been why the dogs weren't called off till the last drive of the game. The Gallatin players held themselves to a high standard of sportsmanship the whole game and my hats off to them for their great sportsmanship during the game. This being said, the band WAS really good though but the director needs to learn some etiquette.

If you are referencing what I think you are, that would be when Coach Counce used profane language at the cheerleading coach. The band directors are two burly men who were never talked to.

  7. I am sure next time this happens GHS can get your help in selling a limited number of tickets to visiting fans, season ticket holders, students, and parents of players, band members, and cheerleaders. Seems like an easy solution with your knowledge.

  12. This is a great article indicative of the level of knowledge and skill that athletic trainers have. This comes at a time when medical institutions are looking to make cutbacks in their budget and are looking at athletic trainers as the first victims. This has happened with athletic trainers in Putnam County, Macon County, and Smith County, while schools in Sumner County are still not sure of the status of their athletic trainers for this school year.

Please thank your athletic trainers for their hard work and support of your local athletic programs.

  13. The Second Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Challenge will be held Monday, October 5, 2009, at Hendersonville High School. Both downstairs courts will be used for the event. The schedule is as follows:

6:30 - HHS vs. White House (Court 2)

Admission will be $5.00, with 100% of the gate receipts being donated to Susan G. Komen for the Cure. Last year's event raised $1500.00, and we hope to top that for this year's event.

This should be a good night of volleyball with three programs that have historically played well year in and year out, and an HHS squad with 8 seniors this year.

Admission will be $5.00 with action on the two downstairs courts.
