  1. I would stay at the Quality Inn in Paris or go 15 miles past it to Paris Landing State Park Inn. Many choices for eats. It all depends on what you want. Fresh Market Restaurant is about a half mile past the Quality Inn on the right. If you are looking for Chinese, try Hong Kong Restaurant next to Mc Donalds. Good Mexican is El Vallarta about a 1/2 mile past Hong Kong. If you don't want to go to a restaurant, just walk up to any tailgate at the stadium. I can assure you, you will not be turned away. Enjoy your stay & GO BIG RED!!!

  2. I didn't see any charter buses. Did anybody else? I parked on the stadium side so I wouldn't have seen them anyway. Did see several school buses but thought they were for that huge band. Anyway, good game last night Big Red. Just remember, one game at a time. Next up, Millington. ROLL RED ROLL & GET FIRED UP !!!!

  3. HC's new region listed below. This came from the TSSAA website. Thoughts?

    Region 7

    Brentwood High School Brentwood

    Centennial High School Franklin

    Clarksville High School Clarksville

    Dickson Co. High School Dickson

    Henry Co. High School Paris

    Northeast High School Clarksville

    Rossview High School Clarksville

    West Creek High School Clarksville

I hope we can split the Brentwood & Centennial games by playing one at home & one on the road each year. That would help a great deal.

  4. Will we be adding seats for the big crowd from Munford coming in? I would hope so. Maybe we do need to think about adding seats for our visitors. Although it would be hard to jusify seeing how they are usually empty during the regular season. My prediction tomorrow night:

    HCHS    31

    Munford 14

    GO BIG RED !!!!!

  5. While it may be a quiet thread this week...it appears that our Cougar bethren have quite an evening planned this coming Friday night in Paris. Including the Cougars' team bus, expect 9 buses full of Team, Band, Fans, and Parents to make their way to Patriot Stadium for this 1st Rounder! Further, be prepared for a physical slugfest between 2 very good football teams. Go Big Red!

P.S. Today I learned the capacity of the vistors' section at Patriot Stadium....anyone want to take a stab at how many fans it will accomodate?

    How bout 450 ?

  6. I would like to hear Mr. Farmer use the word "perpetude" again in a sentence tonight.  I bet no PA announcer has said that word over a loud speaker anywhere in history.

When I read this post, I thought "I've never heard of that word". So I looked it up in the on-line Merriam-Webster dictionary. They haven't heard of it either !!! How did he use it? I must have missed that one. LOL

  7. Over here on the west side of the state, I can assure you no team travels as well as Henry County. Just ask the city leaders of Cookeville. They love to see us playing in the Blue Cross Bowl. Cha-Ching !

  8. 5A HAS A LOT OF GOOD TEAMS...SOMETIMES IN THE SAME DISTRICT.....5AAA HAD 3 TEAMS IN THE TOP 10 STATE POLL MOST OF THE SEASON AND WE HAVE TO ELIMINATE ONE ANOTHER AND ARE BEAT UP BY THE TIME WE GET OUT THE BRACKET...LIKE 7AAA...NO BEE LINE LIKE SOME TEAMS.....IF YOU BEAT EVERYONE IN YOUR DISTRICT BY 25....ARE YOU THAT GOOD ...OR ARE THE TEAMS IN YOUR DISTRICT THAT BAD??? KINDA UNFAIR...BUT I DIGRESS.....5A AND 6A TEAMS KEEP MOVING UP AND DOWN DUE TO ENROLLMENT...NOT A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD IMO....

You always have to play good teams in the playoffs. Just have to play the cards dealt to ya & just keep winning ! Good luck to all of the 5A teams this year. I wish it started tomorrow.

  9. Kinda surprised (and yes I am biased) that nobody has even remotely mentioned Oak Ridge as a top ten team in 5A so far in this thread after what we have returning from last year. While I don't think we will make a state run (albeit it wouldn't shock me) I think we are a year or so off for that, but not to be mentioned as a top 10 team is kinda surprising to me. Maybe flying under the radar will be of benefit to us this year. Have a very large portion of our team that went 7-3 in the regular season returning in 2014.

Never under estimate Coach Gaddis. He is a good one !

  10. Good thread topic. For Henry County I'd have to go with:

James Counce- Most successful head coach we've had. Has amassed a career record of 225-93, including a 122-43 record here at Henry County over two stints as head coach (1984-93, 2010-present), and had been an assistant coach here for several years prior to his first stint as the head man.

John Hudson- Standout lineman here in the 80's and was a major piece of our '85 team, which is still widely considered to be one of our best. Went on to be a starter at Auburn before having a decade long career in the NFL that ended with a super bowl ring as a member of the 2000 Ravens. Currently serves as an assistant coach at Henry County.

Marsalis Teague- Despite how recent he came through, I'd be foolish to leave off arguably the best athlete we've had. Stud player as a DB his sophomore year before having record-setting seasons his Jr and Sr years from the QB position. Went 25-3 over the 2007-08 seasons, was named Mr. Football back of the year in 4A as a senior, and was also named Tennessee's Gatorade player of the year in 2009. Went on to play WR/DB at UT.

Andrew Jelks- Another recent one. The fourth spot was hard to pick, but I had to get at least one player from our championship era on here, and who better than he. Kid was a beast and was the anchor of our offensive line during our '11 championship run. All-District, All-State, and was a Mr. Football finalist his senior year. Currently plays RT for Vanderbilt where he was an All-SEC freshman pick this past season.

Here are some more names to consider from way back:

    John Register

    Wendall Coleman

Long Time Team Doctor Mickey Norman
