I would like to pose a simple question? Inside Lawrence County there is lots of girls that has great ability and could play at the next level. Before I pose my question let me make a couple of points. In the state of Tennessee Shelbyville rules girls basketball, but recently L.C.H.S. has made a pretty serious move to the top. In Bedford Co. and surrounding counties all girl basketball players want to play for Shelbyville. Now, let me pose my question or questions. Why can't Lawrence County do the same? Doesn't it make sense to get the best girls together no matter from which part of the county and have a domiant program each year and give the top players a real chance to get to the next level. Now allow me to give my opinion on the matter. First I think there is too much inter-county rivalry which is causing the players to stay at their local school. Second I think the parents may be the real problem because some parents want playing time over wins and great teams. Now let me give the largely out weighing advantages to this. 1st Lawrence County H.S. should be where all good players play because thats the higher level and major colleges want to see the top level players play in top level competition. 2nd successful programs generally continue to succed and the more success the more young kids want to get involved....see the pattern.... I would like to know the opinion of other people in the county. Players, coaches, parents and game watchers please give me your opinion. Lastly, imagine this team: Kristen Spann, Katie Woods, Rachel Meek, Jana Cross, Rachel Stone, Leah Stone, Brittany Lovett, Kari Pope, and others. (don't forget the 2 Lanning girls that left.). I would Say look out Shelbyville because we coming after you. Thank you.
