  1. We looked awful and disorganized last night. Looked like Lady Tigers of old. Very embarrassed to watch that last night. I like Pat Cope doing a great job, but there is starting to be alot of chatter in the stands. I dont understand the concerns but that is parents for u.

I did hear some of what you were talking about last night in the stands....I think JPC is doing a good job but just have to look better than last night. I totally agree with you that we looked like the "old" Lady Tigers and I thought we were over that. All that withstanding Central Magnet is a very solid team and I could see them finishing 3rd or 4th in the district.

  2. Sadly, Cope needs to worry more about big game experience for his girls rather than racking up cupcake wins. Some of the teams this weekend couldn't beat middle school teams. And he wonders why we can't upset any of the top teams in our district....

I tend to agree with your post, although there is always the argument that confidence is needed sometimes early in the season….ideally it should be a balancing act between scheduling early season/pre district games that would both give you a good test/prepare you for the brutal district you play in and provide some confidence that your team might be lacking. But I would think the groundwork laid by JPC in his tenure @ DC they would be beyond playing this type of schedule. This girls district is like the SEC in football your ultimate success is measured by conference wins. So one can pile up wins against non TSSAA/Christian school type teams but if you are not advancing at least to Region play (something JPC did his 1st year when he inherited a team) then what have you really accomplished?

  3. Ill tell you this, Tennessee tech was recruiting both. Brock was offered the full ride, not Phillips. Everyone who works Brock out can tell he has the arm. He just never has to show it. I promise you if you put Brock in the dekalb system he is just as if not more statistically impressive. The kid can throw the football, he's also as elusive as they come. Don't make false statements about him not getting recruited, their are schools interest in mccoin.

So your saying he is getting recruited to play QB?!? I would just about bet anything you want that he won't play college QB at that level. Maybe a smaller school......same thing for Phillips.

  4. It was an awesome crowd last night for sure. I don't think anyone there last night didn't get there money's worth. Double overtime and to finish it off with a big shot being hit to seal the win. It is great to finally have a good reason for the community to get behind this team. Keep it up Coach Cope! It appears it was a great hire made as far as fit was concerned for this team. Maybe we can forget about some of the other "not so good" hires now and just move forward. It is the first time this team has started 3-0 in a loooooong time.

  5. 1. Upperman

    2. Livingston Acad.

3.--- 5.York Smith Co. Cannon Co.

    6. Macon Co.

    7. Dekalb Co.

3-5 is a complete toss-up in my opinion....all have the capability to finish as high as 3rd or as low as 5th...all have strengths and weaknesses that should play out before Christmas

  6. Yes they can stop the run pretty good. They forced White House into passing when they usually rely on their running abilities. We got a good line. And fast secondary.

First, I have to point out that when someone drops 49 on you....your Defense didn't "force" anything lol!!!!

With that being said, I think it is clear DeKalb is the better team here. For some of the people on here saying it is just the offense and that is why Poteete is a good QB you obviously have not been paying attention. Granted the offense is the perfect fit for Poteete....but that is what good coaches do...put their athletes in the best position to suceed!!

    DeKalb wins 39-21

  7. I agree with BenStiller, the Bisons are in trouble. It was a fluke that we gave up 430 yards of offense to Dekalb Co. and 250 rushing yards to a two win Portland team and 257 rushing yards to Beech. We'll be ready.

How exactly can you refer to it as a "fluke" if it has happened multiple times?

    fluke

    noun

A lucky or improbable occurrence, with the implication that the occurrence could not be repeated.

By the way, Station Camps wins 28-21. The defensive speed that SC has is the deciding factor!

  8. No I am definitely not that guy, he was annoying. He sounded completely fake, but he at least made an effort to try to encourage the kids. I do wish Macon County fans would yell and scream a little more, last year the whole crowd was into it. I think our kids feed off our emotions in the stands. That maybe why we are so flat this year. I have noticed the only time our crowd gets into it anymore is when there is a horrible call. Maybe the refs will do us a favor and make the first call completely off (hopefully if they do it will be the only one they get wrong) and get our crowd pumped up. That way our fans might yell and scream a little more and pump up our kids for the whole game. We need a complete game effort not just a quarter or a half.

And to NoDoubt we have the normal injuries as ever team gets throughout the season but that is not our biggest problem this year.

I think Macon takes this one Macon 18 Greenbrier 14

I think that Greenbrier just has too much speed(skill positions) and wins a close one......Greenbrier 21-20 Macon Co. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

  9. "Jimbo44" I respect your posts on these message boards because I think you have a good knowledge of area basketball..but I do have to point something out. You are correct that the 4 wins for the program is a good improvement over recent years but 3 of the four wins have came over a 3-13 Watertown team that has only managed to beat Mt. Juliet Christian and Merrol Hyde(twice)....so I would hardly consider this season a watershed moment for a program that has lost over 100 straight district games dating back like 6 or 7 years. Granted, there is still time this season for DeKalb to pull off a huge win but it was no longer than last weekend when they we held to 2 total field goals and were shut out completely in the 2nd half in a game against White Co.

  10. IF YOU WERE NOT AT THE GAME YOU NEED NEVER EVER RESPOND - PERIOD

AND IF YOU ASK CANNON FANS THEN WHAT THE HECK TO YOU EXPECT

AND HER NAME IS NOT BIG GIRL IT IS KAYCI

THE THREE CHARGE CALLS ON THE OLDHAM GIRL WERE A JOKE - EVEN

CANNON FANS AGREED -- AS WERE THREE OF KAYCI'S

Sounds like I touched a nerve there "hoops fan2"....lol. I mean with all the cap letters and "need never ever". Could it be that losing the game might have altered the way you viewed the foul calls? I believe I stated in my earlier post that the charge calls were iffy at best but face facts KAYCI's fouls were legit if anything she had 6-9 total fouls if you want to be honest about it. But let me also guess the fouls she was called for Friday night at home(against LA) were also bogus?!?

  11. Dekalb if they want to win do one thing play your game dont adjust to cannon make them adjust to you when you beat watertown and G ville you made them play your game. That is the maost important thing but atleast want to win this one you honestly could have beat macon pretty easily. But you didnt show up and the scorboard showed it.

Cannon if you all want to win make sure you shoot the three really well if they dont fall you are in trouble, but lucly dekalb has the same prob

Since i pick them to end the streak vs cannon or macon and it didnt happen with macon. I will pick dekalb but it will be a toss up

Just checking this scores this morning "kitty"......let me guess, now the streak ends in the next district game right? Which would be Tuesday 15th against Smith Co.

  12. I wasn't present at the Smith Co. at Cannon Co. game but after reading your post "hoopsfan2" I had to respond. As I understand from someone that was at the game, the refs were not the best in the world especially when it came to some of the questionable charge calls. One of them coming late in the game and probably affected the outcome to some degree. But I was also told that for the first time Ferris was actually called for fouls that she deserved and that all the fouls she was called for was very legit save maybe one offensive one early on. I have seen some players over the years not be called for fouls because of the caliber player they are. So stop crying when they actually take the "kid" gloves" off and call fouls on the big girl like they would any other post player. Just because she is 6'8" does not mean she never commits a foul.

  13. No one ever said that you are not entitled to your opinion....the problem is you tried to tell people that you never made that statement about shockley being the best coach. It is just weird that you would make the statement and then back away from and now say its my opinion thats all. The great thing about the forum (coachT) we have here is that people can bounce opinions (good & bad) off of each other and get people talking. DC chances in the Nera? Well, should be a decent match-up against East Robertson and if hey get to play Watertown they know they can beat them....everything else would def. be an up hill battle to win. But you have to play the games....no doubt about that.

  14. "Kiity" I hate to beat a dead horse...maybe in this case a dead cat but this was posted by you on Dec. 9th at 10:02PM post #34

most importantly DC has the best coach in this district Schockley will put those girls in position to win it is up to them to to finsh. There is not a single coach in the girls 7aa part that can do that besides Mike Shockley

    Do you remember now?

  15. I am not sure anyone wants to "bash" DC as a program or the girls that make up the team. But when people make posts that include "they will win a district game before Christmas", predicting a 5th place finish in 7AA, predicting they will play their best against LA, and that Shockley is the best coach in 7AA you open yourself up for people disagreeing strongly lol.

  16. So much for DC playing "there best game" against LA. From what the box score says DC scored 2....points in the 1st period, 10 total in the first half. I agree with "jimbo" the moment everyone is wanting so bad might come when you least expect. And it is never a good idea to make a "guarantee" over something you don't have personal control over.

  17. You are right ???spiff??? the girls should believe in themselves. But you honestly think they are going to defeat York or Livingston? If so, that is great but I think if you look at it logically either one of those games would be a ???miracle upset???. The streak is long for many reasons and will have to be broken by doing many different things??¦not just believing. That??™s just my opinion??¦.everyone has one. But the DC girls are playing harder and appear wanting it more than ever. Rome just wasn??™t built in a day.

  18. Trust me this game will not be close. JC will be able to do whatever they want on the offensive side of the ball. PC will have knock down all open shots they get and hit the Def. glass hard to keep this one close. End of the night TO's will tell the story!
