  1. The Stars bring their galaxy of tacklers to the confines of Robert L Raikes stadium. The welcome mat has been swept and the popcorn will be fresh. The Middleton's are torn about what colors to wear (what with jr. being the back up to the back up). Great weather for Friday night football!!! And Kreager says that the Bulldogs have no chance. There are a few ways I could go on this one, and I will probably eat crow on Monday, but I am calling for the upset here. The Bulldogs stop the Stars and shock the world and district with a win tonight..

  2. Well the bunch from OHS looks like the real deal. It will be a GREAT game when BHS and OHS face off in the last game of the season.

The Bulldogs never were able to get any kind of run game started and OHS made them one dimentional rather quickly. The Boys in purple have some work to do for the second half of the season to improve on this to get themselves in a position for the playoffs.

Overall I expected OHS to be a good team and am proud of SHS for not getting shut out in the contest

  3. The Bulldogs face a tough opponent this week in the Patriots, Smyrna will be tested heavily in the run game, They will need some breaks to overcome the GREATNESS of the OHS machine. Pattriots are so much bigger on the o-line that the no one can play with them. They are faster stronger deeper. Wow not enough adjectives to describe how good they really are. Oh wait I left out the part about the amazing coaching staff.

Heck I am not even sure I want to make the drive to OHS to watch the beating the Bulldogs will take in this one. Is it worth the cost of a ticket to see my favorite team be shamed out the stadium?

I hope you all can hear the sarcasim in my post. yes the Patriots are a fine football team. But as the old saying goes that why we suit up every Friday night.  Let's just let em play and if OHS scores more then we can all say how GREAT the Patriots are.

Hope you all enjoy your Friday night, I will because I will be watching my favorite team fight the Pats and all the nay sayers.

    Let's Go DAWGS!!!

  4. Actually I was just giving you a hard time. Enjoy reading your posts. Especially about Ash.

nrgrizzlies is now a SCHS fan. and never was LHS fan all of you know this by now. Good thing about him staying in the district is he can still be a smyrna HATER. BHS wins this one 42-17

  5. Bulldogs win this one IMHO. plus Kreager picked em so they have to win right ??? Bulldogs are healthy and have worked hard this week. Stopping the run will make or break em tonight. I agree with milo we also need some serious work on the pass rush or the corners HAVE GOT TO GET BETTER QUICK. Bulldogs have to get to 7 wins this season to make the playoffs. Looking forward to another win tonight. Milo you owe me some popcorn.

  6. Don't forget about the vandalism to Smyrna's athletic property done by their own students not that many years ago.

    If you somehow forgot...

    http://www.wkrn.com/story/10338488/vandals-cause-thousands-in-damages-at-smyrna-high-school?clienttype=printable

Well once again nrgrizzlies found a way to loop us back to the vandalism story. Do you have that wkrn link saved in your favorites?? yes the vandalism happened, we know it happened and nothing was done about it. we put up a new goal post, we repaired some turf and life continued without time stopping. Congratulations to the Bulldogs on the win over LHS, now lets go forward and win the next one. Hate to use coach speak but lets take one game at a time.

  7. That team had the Knox brothers that ran over, through, and around everyone. How do you think they will figure in to the running attack this year seeing how Mr. Hardin will be the primary ball carrier?

One of the Knox brothers suffered a season ending concussion last year. Not sure what his status is, but I am sure the siegel stable of backs will be FULL!

  8. You obviously have me confused with somebody else. I don't live in LaVergne and I sure don't have old footage of local high school football. I may have seen Riverdale play once that first year or two (a loss at BGA) and the only things I remember about it was the QB was wearing an unlikely number for a QB - like #88 or something and both teams had a kid named "Fesmire" which was also against the odds.

grizzles there must be some connection that your not telling us about with LHS, the Stork doesn't get confused about folks and their affiliations to programs. So could this be construed as YOU helping kids at LHS getting recruited? I know that Stork does some very good video work and has helped several young men get to the next level. Just go ahead and say it for us all, your a LHS Booster in disguise.

  9. My biggest question is WILL R'dale wake up and win this week? If it winds up 3 (three) losses in a row...................

RHS hasn't lost 3 in row since 1989 (lost four in a row to end the seson)

    some stats

    2009 11-3

    2008 5-5 no more than 2 in a row

    1995 3 losses

    1989 3-7

    1988 4-6

1987 3-7 4 losses in a row to start the season

    1975 4-6 lost 4 in a row

1972 2-6-2 no more than 2 losses in a row

Not likely the Wolverines will take this one from the Warriors. Plus Milo has checked with T$$AA to insure the sorry refs who gave Smyrna the win over LHS are not working the RHS vs LHS contest.

We can't have RHS having any tainted wins right grizzles.

Thanks to my friend RHS SID David Limbaugh for the help with the information

  10. Does anybody else see an issue for Smyrna this week as Blackman now has their back firmy against the wall - and this is NOT a good matchup for Smyrna as far as Blackman having a battering ram style runner (who missed the last game - out of town at a funeral or whatever) and a wide-out who is about 6-foot-5 going against small linebackers and corners? This could be a career night for those two kids. It could end up "mercy rule" not long into the 3rd qtr.

Riverdale should also be in desperation mode. When last did they lose 2 in a row?

I don't think Oakland will beat Siegel even though they did take that one last year in overtime in a real thriller. But Oakland seems to be getting better every week since the fluke loss at Lavergne. They are a playoff caliber team even with the injuires and playing tons of younger guys.

The new GURU (NRGRIZZLIES) of high school football has spoken folks so pay attention.

If you think there is an upset in the making in the Siegel / OHS game I have some beach front property I would like to show you in Memphis.

And before you start bashing me on the Bulldogs I already know we are terrible and have no chance of winning another game. yada yada yada. etc. etc etc.

but we did beat your LaVergne team oh my bad I keep forgetting your not an LHS fan. icon_mrgreen.gif

and you think RHS will be in desparation mode against LHS

  11. Who let those DAWGS out last week. Well, not Franklin. Two of the most powerful teams in the last few years meet again, but under different circumstances. Both are struggling and need that next win. Rebs in a nail biter 21-17

Teams / programs of any kind can have cycles that they go thru from year to year, its just been some time since we have had such a young team at Smyrna. Started two freshman on the left side of the O line against Lavergne. The team seems to be growing week to week, still lots of mistakes that need to be ironed out. Plus the OC left just a few weeks before practices started to take a HC job. He had just joined the staff in the spring after OC Childs went to Gallatin. No excuses the Bulldogs will rebound and get back into the district mix. As for friday night SHS 24 - FHS 17. Lets Go Dawgs

  12. Sorry in advance to my friends riverdale man and David Limbaugh but I am going with Siegel in this one. I think the difference in this one is the fast pace that the Stars play at and the tailback stable at Siegel is deeper than RHS. Good close game with no injuries! Siegel 35 - RHS 27

  13. The Bulldogs will find a way to be up for this game, but I am afraid that RHS will come into Robert L Raikes Staduim this week ready to prove a point that they are the dominant team in the district what with all the talk about siegel. Bulldog fans we have to remember that all programs have rebuilding years and this is ours. We must keep supporting our team and they will get better as the year goes along.

It pains me to say this week will be ugly.

    • Now nrgrizzlies don't be offensive by calling them sea-gull. You have got to learn to play well with others. Seems as though this is siegel's year. They played well without Stockstill last week, but you can never tell about old Coach Shad and the Blaze, he'll have them coached up and ready to go.
    • My score siegel 30 - BHS 17

  14. I would think that another Mboro school would happen befroe an expansion at Eagleville or Rockvale.

It is more likely a new high school will be built in the Whitworth-Buchanon area first (between Oakland and Riverdale), early zoning plan for Stewarts Creek has more students being pulled from Blackman and LaVergne, and about 350 students moving from Riverdale to Blackman. SC could likely end up being a 5-A classification in 7-AAA, Similar to the Sumner Cty district. It will make it somewhat easier for 7 AAA scheduling, IMO you could pull Wilson Central into 7-AAA to make 8 teams and the travel would not be very bad.

  15. Win Lose or Draw I am just excited to see the boys run onto the field at Robert L Raikes Stadium on Friday night. Hoping that there will be some pumped up boys of fall coming onto the field. For those of you who are new to SHS football don't be glass half empty kind of folks. There were some lean yrs prior to the Gold Ball yrs of 6 and 07. The Purple and Gold will rise again! This is only a bump in the road.

  16. At least we agree on one thing - I don't pull for the rotten orange either - even if 99% of the rest of your post is wrong and also makes me wonder if your (correctly used) school taught English. I was in h.s. long before LHS or the current SHS had been built. Also, I never hesitate to slam the rotten orange on sports forums. It's o.k. to do that. People do it all the time.

Since you request that I not attend the LHS/SHS game, I have circled it on the calendar and now will certainly go. Whether or not they want $7 is up to the people working that gate. If they don't want my money, I will be happy to attend for free. In the meanwhile, go Brentwood and go N.C. State!!

(What happened between you and the Vols anyway? Did one of them kick your fanny and steal your girlfriend on the Cumberland Ave. strip? j/k - just messing with you since you seem to be so thin skinned about sports)

And just for the record let me make sure I'm hearing your logic correctly.

A} It's good to pull against the cross-county middle school (no problem)

B} It's o.k. to pull against the college in the other end of the state. (do it myself, cool with me)

C} If you don't pull for the purple and yellow high school, don't show up - you're not welcome to attend (???)

    Hint -

["C" would be a prime example of why people around the county love it when they lose]

Nice post. Point taken. Just do us a favor and try to keep the SHS bashing to a minimum and I'll agree to disagree.
