  1. I do agree with all the talks concerning the hosts for the tournaments and one reason that has affected the Volunteer turnout is due to the way that it is out of the way for the majority of the schools. Being a member of the student section that was present we had a lot less than we normally did but we still cheered for our team as if we were all there due to the fact that many of us are seniors.

However i do think that Central is capable of hosting because it is a bigger school. I am proud of my team this year and I hope they have an excellent run next year with the group of juniors stepping up and making even better plays. Albright, Brown, Roberts and DeVault will be the keys of that great group.

Good luck to the other four teams and I hope you all SMOKE the IMAC league. I wish East a lot of luck due to the fact that they are county buddies with us and to TN High since they are the ones that eliminated us.

  2. Hey Brock20??¦tell your boys Cougarnation and RIPST21 that I heard that they were sellin tissues by the box at the concession stand tonight after the game. /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" /> /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />

All jokes aside??¦I hope for a good clean straight up ball game tonight. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" /> It's not going to be a "cake walk" for either team. Is Mickey back in uniform?

I guess thats a good thing they will be selling those, be sure to get a hold of them first! and the answer to your question regarding Mickey is yes, so now you may have something to worry about. Good luck tonight!

  3. From watching Greenville on Monday when they came to Central, I say that our top 3, maybe 4 teams could compete with them. They have a fast offense, but not so much size. If you take it down low you should be able to pull out a victory, Central was rushing their offense the opening period and did not get into the groove until after Greenville made a cushion for themselves.

Wow, I wish Central or heck, any crowd could get that big judging that picture from hightop. I noticed that picture is of one from Centrals dome and to think that people would have to watch it from the rails, well i thought it was cool when we filled one section up, haha.

  4. I will have to agree with you. They are doing an outstanding job this year. I know the whole student section does not stand and cheer for them, but I do watch their game and clap for them. We have a very talented girls team and I would not trade any of them for another team. I can not, however, speak on behalf of the student section. Standing up for 3 or 3 1/2 hours may be a long time to stand, but i dont see a problem for cheering for them in a close game, such as the one tonight.

  5. Yes, i know this is not about student sections, but i would love to cheer for DB, and i actually feel sorry for their team knowing that their students sit down the whole time, more than most not even looking up to see if they have the ball or not. I cheer for Central, despite the good and the bad times, but at DB, its more good than bad period. I think DB would probably have a lot more momentum with some of its students getting into the game. However the DB fans are pretty good in general and they are louder than any student section at DB, come to think of it, i really havent heard a DB crowd since the time Central played them at Greenville a couple years ago. Thats sad. Cheer for your team and show some spirit!

Good luck to all the games tonight, Central has to try to handle Daniel Boone in order to secure their 5th place spot. East, I am hoping you guys kill(not literally) Volunteer tonight. Also, a great match up between DB and Science Hill tonight! Good luck to both of them teams!

  6. You could not have called it any better. The first half of this game was the worst officiated game I have ever seen in high school basketball. No exaggeration, and the second half was the 2nd worst half I have seen. If this game was called anywhere near fair we win by 15 or more. TN High shot 22 foul shots to our 5. But that doesn't even begin to show the real story. Anytime we started to get any kind of lead by about 10 or more the refs would call either a lane violation on a free throw, moving screen, a phantom walk, 3 seconds or a foul not even near the ball to allow TN High to get back in the game. Then once we hit a 2 minute stretch where we struggled to score TN High hits a couple of shots and it was over for us. whereas if we had gotten a fair shake we would have weathered that because we would have been up 20 points. Once TN High got the lead all they had to do was throw it near the paint and the refs were going to call a foul on us.

The refs let TN High's post players just kill people inside on their zone and there is nothing you can do about but hope that somehow you can knock the people of your arms long enough (and without getting a crazy offensive foul called on you) to somehow muster the ball up to the goal. Funny thing was that TN High actually went to a man-to-man for about 3 possessions and we get 3 easy buckets because they didn't have any of their goons inside near the bucket to hammer us when we took it up. They quickly got away from that and went back to their usual going over the back and beating people under the goal. People want to go off on Volunteer for their physical play but really TN High in my opinion is worse than they are. Volunteer may be physical but they at leadt get called for those fouls, where as TN High does not.

But it has been like this for the last 10 years or so because of the Arby's. As long as TN High gets to appoint refs to this tournament then they are always going to get the benefit of the doubt, but tonight it was just put to the extreme. In my opinion TN High has not had a good team since Kevin Springs, John Sproles and Davey Wilson played. These TN High teams should be thankful everyday for the Arby's or they would be a consistent cellar dweller.

One of the refs we had tonight used to call in District 2 but for some reason is calling Big 9 games now. I mean what is the deal? Did we not have enough terrible refs that we had to go and get some from another District? Was this guy like last the final piece to the all-time worst officiating crew ever and we finally got all 3 of them teamed up together tonight?

Could not state it any better.

  7. I give props to THS's refs, as being the worse in the big 9. They played a very well game due to the refs helping them every chance they could. And we all know the Big 9 has very poor refs. Central played very well without having starting point guard, Mickey Brown, due to an ankle problem. Also, #42 for Tennessee High is a very rough player and I hope he can control his attitude before he messes with the wrong person and gets knocked down.

  8. So that ONE backcourt call decided a 13 point game?

Interesting how things are viewed when the shoe is on the other foot

I did not say that it did. I was implying that the calls that were made were not of great judgement. That was not the only play, and i was giving just one scenario.

Also, even though this is a basketball forum, South helped cheer for us because it was THEIR CHOICE. They happen to be a county school and so what if they help support another school, there isn't anything in the laws against it, so give it a rest. As for the Greeneville Game, I did not take a role in that and left the game shortly after. I would prefer our Region to win over any other region, including region 2. Distict is coming up and I hope we put the best teams to stand a chance against the Knoxville schools, and making it to State.

  9. Central V East was an awesome game, but with VERY poor officating. For example, an East player hits the ball back to the other side of the court and Central gets it back, they decided to call a backcourt ruling. I hate to have games be decided by other factors other than the teams that are playing. East defense was superb and were constantly hustling. And it is funny how East student section copied Central Camo wear last year...real original. Like most of the cheers they use. BOO!

  10. I know DB played poorly against Farragut at the first of the year. But that team was just learning to play with one another. It's kinda hard to judge. My guess is that there is as much difference in that early DB team as there is between Central early in the year compared to last night--like day and night. I think the biggest asset DB has right now is their tremendous depth. It is so hard for an opposing coach to key on stopping one player because someone else will step up and beat you. I just hope this continues into the postseason. Charlie seems to usually have his teams playing their best ball in the post season. Who knows!!!

I agree with you, DB's tremendous bench is extremely hard for opposing teams. A defender tries to get use to a player and then they are met with a fresh guy, who plays different than the previous player. That is hard on any team, and I think that Farragut would have a tough time playing this DB team right now. Everyone changes from the beginning of the season, but some change even more and I think DB is one, and I think Central is another team that has seem to figure out where to go and start acting like a team.

  11. Good game to DB, Central hung on till the 3rd, but I give credit to DB's amazing bench. They played every player and its extremely hard to play a team where the kids are never tired. Im not going to blame anybody like most people do, DB flat out, outplayed us. Best of luck in the tourny. Up next, Sullivan East at their place, should be an AWESOME game. I am thinking it will be a close one, with the win coming in the closing minutes to either team, ( but of course I would like Central to be the winning team.)

And WaCo, Central did not need any support because everyone knows DB doesn't really have a student section till district and regional.

  12. LOL, first lets focus on Friday nights games. Central-DB I think the outcome will be different than a lot of people's prediction. I would not say an upset is out of the question, but it will be a lot closer than the first go around. DB has a TEAM and are doing really well, but Central's team is starting to click as well.

  13. Well lets see there is the ever popular use of the N word against Science Hill last year. I must also add the remarks that were said to one of our players whos father is Palistenian. I believe your student sections exact words were Terriorist and Sand Ni****

Actually, I was in the student section, and I can assure you those terms were never used. But dont mind us when you have some guy in the front of your section wearing a bandana around his face and giving the "stink it" sign to our fans, which is why he was told to calm down. And also, we do not go after individual players. Our principal will not allow it, so therefore we do not do it.

  14. No it didnt but the Weapon free zone signs did. You know student sections could actually have fun if it wasnt for your "Best Racisit Section". We have fun while not crossing the line. We refrain from useing cuss words and racisit words unlike uuummm... centrals.

And what cuss word do they use? and racist?

  15. #1. Central has NO chance against DB. Im looking for DB to go up by ten within the first 5 mins.

#2. The whole being name the best student section is totally ficticous. They are kinda loud till they are down then they are quite. Plus they are not clever at all. We will see who is the best student section next Tuesday. We have a couple treats for their students.

I am confused as to how you can say Central has no chance against DB when East barely beat Central and East almost beat DB? Central has improved a lot since their first meeting with DB, but with a lot of hard work and determination, anything is possible on a given night in the Big 9.

Also, East student section at Central was nothing, so it will be interesting comparing them to Central. In regards to the treats, your not at a basketball game to be bashing the other student section and whatnot, you are there to be supporting your team. Seems like you wanted to do the same things against Science Hill with water guns. Guess that did not go through with your administration.

  16. i dont no when the last time a saw more homecooking than with the central refs especially when it came down to the end. our #1 player didnt play either by the way.

Not to mention from what i saw central got wooped in the parkin lot after the game

All three of the refs were bad, just like the rest of the Big 9 refs. Central has never gotten a real home cooked meal from the refs and definitely did not get it tonight. True, the refs made some bad calls against SH, however, those calls were just as equal, if not better, than the ones against Central. SH was pushing players around the whole night and none of them were called for that. However, people need to understand that Central lead the whole game up to the point that they were tied at 52, but took the lead from there for good. Central has a very decent team and needs to be given credit for the win without adding other variables such as refs.
