District 5: 1- Grace Academy 2- Silverdale Academy District 6: 1- Lookout Valley 2- CSAS
  2. Here is how the Region 3A Semi's are going to shake out on Monday: CSAS @ Grace Academy 7pm Silverdale @ Lookout Valley 7pm (I'm assuming the time) Here's how i see it: Lookout Valley shouldn't have any trouble w/ Silverdale. They will most likely throw Brandon O'Dell and Silverdale is not going to have any idea what to do about him. He will throw pitches by them that will look unreal. It actually really doesn't matter who valley throws. They should win pretty easily. Now, that goes w/o saying conrats to Silverdale. They have done some things the in the District tournament that NO ONE expected them to do, but their season will end Monday night. The more intriguing game will take place at Grace Academy when the Golden Eagles play CSAS. They have played once this season, and Grace gave away the game to the Patriots 9-7. They scored 36 runs in 2 games yesterday. They are swinging the bats very well right now and have a lot of confidence. I think this will be the year that Grace will finally get over that "Region Semi" final hump and face Lookout Valley in the Region Championship game. They will more than likely be throwing their sophmore ace Alec Rose who throws 84-86 consistently and has touched 88 on a few occasions. He has great command of his curve as well when he is "on". Grace has fought hard to get here and has a lot of kids on the team from last year's team and remember what CSAS did to them last season and this season, so they are going to be hungry to come out swinging and get some revenge. Good luck to all teams in the tournament!
  3. Ok, ya yall beat Grace once, you got some respect, but as far as an "established program" goes, i wouldn't go that far. i will admit, DB has gotten better from this year to last, but if you look at their schedule, its a joke. They're playing all of these little single A schools that they know they can beat, unlike Grace who schedules harder games against ooltewah, oak ridge, CCS, boyd, marion, polk, walker, and several other big name schools so they can prepare for the District and region tournaments. Grace is starting to turn things around and they are looking for some revenge when they see DB in the district tournament. Good luck to DB and the rest of their season

Grace did scrimmage silverdale on monday and Grace beat them pretty badly. Both teams had some baserunning and fielding issues. Grace also did not have their starting catcher. What made the difference is that Grace hit the ball a lot better than Silverdale did. When silverdale scored 1 run in the top of the first, Grace came back and scored 9 or 10 in the bottom of the first. I think that Silverdale has actually gotten worse from last year. Their pitching monday was awful. That is going to be a big struggle for them all year long.

thank you go vols, Grace's field has been worked on a lot and looks great this year. and as far as the region predictions go, Valley won't play Grace in the semi-finals b/c its the Winner of Distrcit 5 (which will be Grace) plays the loser of District 6 (which i think will be CSAS) and the Winner of District 6 (Valley) will play the loser of District 5 (Copper or Silverdale). It would be a good thought, but i just do not see Valley choking against CSAS in District Championship game. Valley has too much fire power and bats to loose in an important game like that.
  6. I wouldnt count Grace out just quite yet. However, they have a lot of soul searching to do. The first half last night was the worst i have seen Grace play in a long time. Only 3 people from Grace scored in the first half as compared to 5 or 6 for the Crusaders. Someone who has got to step up and pass the ball more is Brandon Herman, sure he had his 33 points, but it didn't help his team out in the end. He also should have taken the lay up instead of trying to dunk with about 2 minutes left in the game. It would have put Grace up 1 who had momentum going at the time. Patrick Shaunassay (sp?) also didn't get enough touches inside last night. Free throw shooting was key too. That hurt Grace at the end. I hope this wakes up the Golden Eagles because their road to State just got a lot of more harder. Instead of potentially facing CSAS in the region championship, they now have to face them in the semi-finals. I think this will be a wake up call for Grace and when Tuesday night comes, they will be ready to go toe-to-toe with CSAS. I have full condifdence that if Grace plays SELF LESS basketball and play to the best of their potential, then they will beat CSAS. The seniors for Grace don't deserve to go out this early with the type of talent and depth they have. and let us not forget Fuquan Harper is eligable to play Tuesday night. He is the x-factor for the the entire region tournament for me. He can handle the ball well, pass well, and finds open opportunities for his teammates and himself.
  7. wow, lots of random and absurd posts on here. "whitwell beating temple" "CSAS losing by double digits?" It's going to Grace and CSAS in the region championship game. Grace will have the addition of Fuquan Harper which will be a big boost to their depth. He handles the ball well, is fast, and can create opportunities for himself and his teammates. I really don't think Temple will make a lot of noise in regions. let me tell you this though, I know a few of the CSAS players and from talking to them, they are ready to smash Grace and Silverdale in the ground and get revenge for their losses earlier in the season. They are focused and ready to take care of business. I believe this will be a great region Championship game. Both CSAS and Grace will be ready and focused to come out and play hard and make they send the other team to a tough road game for sub state Grace 60 CSAS 57
  8. Grace has beaten Temple in both regular season meetings, but it has been fairly close both times. I think Grace wins again, unless Sexton plays out of his mind and Grace just plays absolutely terrible, but i do not believe that will happen. Grace will come out very focused and ready to go. any predictions? mine is: Grace 55 Temple 45

    Region 3A

Let's get some early season predictions.......I think that in the Region 3A semifinals you have Lookout Valley beating either Copper Basin or Silverdale and Grace beating CSAS Lookout Valley is returning 8 out of its 9 starters (loosing only their catcher) from its State Tournament team last year and from what i have heard are looking very strong this year. CSAS- i don't really know a whole lot except for they lost Matt Jones, Nick Peppers maybe and a few others, but they still have James Dickson and a few others, any insight would be good. Grace- they will win their district for a 3rd straight year w/o much trouble. They have a pretty tough out of district/region schedule playing teams like Oak Ridge, Boyd Buchanan, Marion County, Polk County, Ridgeland, and Ooltewah. They willl also be a host site for the Ooltewah Invitational and also playing in the Mountain/Valley Invitational. They lost five seniors last year but are bringing back five seniors, most noteably, a considered top-area-prospect in shortstop/pitcher Wallace Foster. The key for Grace is going to be pitching, they are very young in the rotation as far as experience goes, in fact they are pretty young in experience in all aspects, but have LOADS of talent. I believe that if this team does what they know they can do, they can get over the "region semi-final hump" and beat CSAS to advance to the region championship against lookout valley and go play in a sub state game. what do you all think?
  10. it's not going to matter where the game is played this year. even though it is temple's gym, i can promise you Grace will bring a lot more fans and a student section that has been consistent and great all year long. The noise is going to be a factor i think. but as far as the game goes......... i think that Herman and Church have "gelled" more over the past few weeks with the other players and started playing better team ball. Grace's bench is also deep. They have a good ball handlers (granger hughes, JT Turner) and other key role players (chris george among them) (the three i mentioned are seniors) are going to be really helpful when temple's bench isn't as good and will probably wear out fast.
  11. while both teams have gotten better, i think grace is the team that is most improved out of the two. Temple had a lead on CSAS the other night and let that go. that was also a moral defeat for them. Temple can't let sexton do all of the scoring and then have their other plays be "on" one night and "off" the next. too inconsistent. Grace has been playing much better as a whole. They are getting great momentum for another trip to MTSU. Grace by 10 PS- Is the game at the high school gym or are they moving it to McGilvary (sp?)
  12. I think if Hampton is healthy, Grace will have more of a challenge to deal with. CSAS is a team that moves the ball well and plays good team ball. That loss to Silverdale however, has kinda downed their confidence level and this is going to be a prime opporunity for Grace to come into a hostile CSAS environment and get a win. If you have been follwing Grace games at all, you know that we have been playing better as a team and are gaining a lot of momentum. This is going to be a great game, but i have Grace by 5.
  13. CSAS blew Grace out back in December, BUT Grace has improved greatly since. They are playing better team ball and are starting to gain some momentum. CSAS did have that loss to Silverdale, but they will come out to play and prove to everyone that the Silverdale game was just a fluke. i think this game will still be good. Whats the status of Donte Hampton's injury? Let me know your pics. I got Grace by 5.
  14. Who ya got? Grace is coming off a big win against Silverdale and Temple is coming off a loss to McCallie. This should be a good game, but I think Grace has the advantage inside. Patrick Shaughnassey had a big game and stepped up big time Tuesday night. And of course McMasters will show up to play. So predictions? my pick: Grace wins by at least 10
  15. In light of Saturday night's upset, who you got tomorrow night when the Seahawks come to Grace's Gym?
