  1. I heard through the grapevine that Alcoa would have probably lost this one if it would have been a whole game. From what I have heard, Alcoa could not stop Powell and the only way Alcoa could move the ball against Powell was to go to their goalline package in the middle of the field in the second series of the scrimmage and had to stay there for the rest of the scrimmage to have some success. I don't know if this is true, but some of the local refs thought Alcoa did not get the best of Powell, and they thought that if this game went the entire time that Powell would probably come out on top. They said they thought depth would be an issue. I also heard that Powell's second team went up and down the field. Don't know, but it seems like we are not getting the whole truth from you Alcoa faithful.

  2. Maryville's offense is way ahead of the defense right now. I am pretty sure the Rebels only prepared for the wing-t for about 30 minutes in practice, which is probably the reasoning for a lot of the success of the Spartan's attack. I think they would have been much more prepared given an entire week to prepare. Very impressed with Webb's team, but I think in a game that Maryville would have been on top in every aspect. I was a little disappointed in Maryville's lack of defensive intensity. They missed a lot of tackles and seemed to be waiting on something to happen instead of making it happen. I think the offense will be another tough one to handle this year, but if the Rebels' coaching staff does not do some work, the defense might struggle again. Kudos to Webb for bringing the fight to the Rebels!! It should be another interesting year for the Rebels. I know that Coach Gaylor and the defensive staff will work hard to get them prepared, but the kids have to bring on every play!

  3. Powell's kids were much more physcial than Maryville's. Maryville's kids played as if they were deer in headlights, and the Powell Panthers smacked them in the mouth. This might be the best thing that can happen to a group (Maryville) that has not been tested yet. We will see how they respond to a little adversity. Congrats to Powell's kids for taking the fight to the Rebels, which is something you do not see very often. Good luck to both teams throughout the rest of the season.
