  1. While I can appreciate people being able to express their opinions on this site, I do not believe it gives people the right to "personally" attack another. If the focus of this topic was to create awareness of bowling and motivate bowlers to do well in the upcoming season, then you would do well to put the focus on that and not slamming your fellow teammate. You state that this post is not about Matt, yet all of your comments are continuously directed at him and with putting him down. Very poor sportsmanship on your part. I think that this post is more about the transition that you are going thru and the realization that you will never bowl for high school again and will never have the chance to win either a team or individual championship. I think you do Matt a disservice by saying that he "lucked" out on his average last year and being selected as Bowler of the Year. I don't believe any bowler just lucks out with an average of 223. It takes hard work and dedication, which Matt did last year. I have known and watched Matt bowl for several years and I find him to be a very well mannered and respectful young man and bowler. I think he shows good sportsmanship not only to his teammates, but also his competitors. I have never seen Matt act conceited or act like he is better than anyone else. You may find that balancing bowling with other interests may just make you a better bowler. Its crazy to think that you must spend every spare moment bowling to be the best. Having interests outside of bowling does not make bowling any less important. I applaud Matt for his response to you. I wish him well in the upcoming season and whether he comes in 1st place, 10th place or whatever place, I still believe he is a good bowler and will represent Soddy Daisy very well. We are all very proud of him!
  2. Let's not forget some of the girls accomplishments/highlights from the tournament. In Hixson's match against Sequatchie County Brittany Marcum had a 624 series (202, 195, 227) and Andria Aurand (224, 178). In the match against Soddy Daisy, Jarrelle Wolfe had a nice 580 series (220, 188, 172). Brittany followed with a 560 series (200, 192, 168). Andria had a nice 186 game. Soddy Daisy's Niki Bell led the Lady Trojans with a 618 series (210, 213, 195). Sara Merritt (203), Lindsay Wright (200) and Valerie Brown (188) helped to secure the victory against Chattanooga Christian. All in all, the tournament was a great success and it was wonderful to see all the great bowling from all the teams that made it to district. Well done bowlers!
  3. What's the news about any of the girls making it to individuals? Does anyone know for sure what girls have definitely made it? Nothing definite from our district yet, but I'm thinking that the following have a shot at going: Andria Aurand (Hixson) Brittany Marcum (Hixson) Sara Merritt (Soddy Daisy) Niki Bell (Soddy Daisy) Of course this is just speculation on my part since a couple of teams in our district are still finishing up their season.

The Soddy Daisy Boys team is doing really great and I believe they have a lot of potential and will do well this season. Some of the incoming freshman are doing a fantastic job! Don't count them out. They still have a lot of room to grow, but with the return of several of our great bowlers and with the up and coming freshman....they will definitely be a team to contend with. Scott Demirjian and Matt Lyon continue to give solid performances when bowling. Yesterday's match against Signal Mountain High School was 27-0. Highlights of the game: Matt Lyon (209, 237), Andy Holden (233, 248), Allyn Pickett (289, 199), Kaleb Langston (205), Joseph Leffew (222), Lee Hendrickson (209). The Soddy Daisy Girls team took a big hit b/c five of the girls graduated. They are in the rebuilding phase right now, but are definitely plugging right along. I expect Sara Merritt, Niki Bell, Lindsay Wright, and Valarie Brown to do well this season. Our new girls are working hard and I'm proud of each and every one of them! GO SODDY DAISY!
  5. It should be an interesting year since so many graduated. Hixson and Soddy will be rebuilding their teams. I've heard that the Hixson girls may bowl with the boys but I'm not sure if this is true. I think Hixson's Brittany Marcum is someone to watch out for this year. Soddy, as always, have girls with great potential - Sam Cooper, Sara Merritt, Lindsay Wright, Brittany Vaughn and Niki Bell. Good luck to all the girls ....hope everyone has a super season!
  6. Which girl bowlers do you think will be good this year? Which girl's team?
  7. Let me just say congrats to White Station girls on their win. They were consistent and picked up their spares, which Soddy Daisy failed to do. The Soddy Daisy girls and parents did not have a problem with White Station beating them. Of course everyone was disappointed to lose, which as I'm sure any team would be, but the real problem was White Station's coach and his obnoxious attitude and uncalled hateful comments to our girls. You might just expect catty comments from teenage girls, but you would expect an adult....especially a coach....to be above making snide remarks about another team. So if the Soddy Daisy girls seemed to be showing unsportsman like attitudes, then forgive us......I think a lot of them were upset from the comments the White Station coach made and not White Station girls themselves. His justification for making the comments was that Soddy Daisy was "supposedly" rude to him during the 2004-05 State Tournament. The only thing I can think of that we did was yell for our girls. Get over it and quit acting like a "middle schooler". Personally I get sick of everyone saying that Soddy Daisy is rude. Soddy Daisy yells and supports the girls....very loudly I might add....but that doesn't make us rude just because we are loud. Our girls like it loud and by gosh if it helps motivate them to do better...than by golly we will. We cheer and encourage our girls and we do not make comments about any of the girls we bowl. I personally spoke with at least two of the parents from White Station and at least one of the girls congratulating them on their win. It was impressive to see them across the board...(all six of them) either striking or at least picking up their spares. Maybe sportsmanship should start at the top with the coach. Personally....I can't respond to what happened between Hendersonville and Hixson...but I know for a fact that you won't find another team that shows better sportsmanship than Hixson.
  8. First let me say that Kimberly Hensley did an awesome job and congrats on your win! It was amazing to watch her bowl on the sport shot. Hilary Bell YOU WERE AWESOME! She did great in her match plays and only lost one of her matches. She worked hard and it was wonderful to see her move from fourth place to win and be State Runner-Up. You are amazing Hilary and we are very proud of you. Soddy Daisy High School is fortunate to have you represent their school. I want to say that Allie Chase is a very fierce and competitive young lady and you should be very proud of your entire performance this year. You have had a tremendous season and all of your hard work has really paid off. Kayla Carnes is truly a an amazing bowler and even though she didn't make the final cut, everyone should know that she had an outstanding season and that it was a real accomplishment to be ranked #1 in the State coming into this tournament. I really feel like the Chattanooga area has some of the best bowlers ever! Congrats to everyone. Go Hixson Girls.......hope you win State.
  9. What an intense and exciting match between Soddy and Smyrna. Congrats to Soddy Daisy boys! Good luck at State. You were awesome today.
  10. Disregard the total pin count.....sorry addition was wrong.
  11. Congratulations Hixson! You definitely have an awesome team and should be very proud of them. The girls always show great sportsmanship.
  12. Soddy Daisy was led by Heather Johnson (239, 233, 191), Sara Merritt (220, 197, 195), Hilary Bell (208, 202), Sara Delashmitt (204, 183), Kera Delashmitt (197, 198), Megan Bearfield (198, 179). Total pin count was 3,309 to 3,149. We are proud of you Lady Trojans!
  13. Soddy Daisy girls defeated Columbia Central girls 20.5 to 6.5. Way to go Trojans!
  14. its amazing that morons like you get on a SPORTS topic named BOWLING and trash it when you are not on a team and dont know what all goes into it. if you dont like bowling then stay off our site. its that simple
  15. Well my vote is for Hilary Bell. She bowled a 277 in youth league and had a 725 series. GO HILARY!
