  1. Did he just call himself an IDIOT? because last time I read..he was the one that made up and talked about this "phantom junior player" more than anyone else on this thread.

    Finally he got one thing right! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

    Keep up the good work. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

And....the last time you read....I wasn't even talking to you, about you, about your team, etc. In other words, why don't you mind your own business. Here again...it may be that there are some on here with several user identities.

Birds of a feather, flock together. Unbelievable. Go back to the 4AAA predictions with your buddy and put down those programs, parents, and players. There's quite a few of you on here who seem to relish in that.

    THE END. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  2. No reason to lie. We all know that you are either the phantom junior player or his father, and that you didn't make up any players. Next, you need to realize that this type of pompous self-promotion is incredibly damaging to one's ability to play. Most kids or parents who talk this way have an opinion of themselves that is either a great deal over estimated or entirely unjustified. Let your play, not your mouth, do the talking and promoting for you.

I just knew you couldn't leave this alone. Come on man, let it go and don't worry about it. You of all people shouldn't be calling anyone pompous, because you beat anyone on here in that category. You get on here and make accusations and bash players and programs. No kid on any team or any program deserves that kind of ridicule. Yes, I've seen your bashing of programs on the 4AAA section.

First of all, you take this stuff way too serious and you don't know what the h**l you are talking about. Second of all, you are just a big IDIOT!! A "phantom junior player" and "pompous self-promotion"...WOW...how ridiculous can you possibly get?

  3. You clowns are missing a good deal of info. about the recruiting process. Some athletes receive letters from colleges simply because the athlete has initiated contact, Some athletes receive letters because their coaches do a great job of getting their players recognized, and some players simply receive letters because they've paid some silly place like perfect game, thunder, etc. to put their names out there. For instance, Perfect game is a paid for service. When colleges see that athletes are willing to pay for that kind of crap, they also realize that the athlete is serious about playing. The coach now knows that the kid will be interested in playing and will also be an easy sell on his program.

Obviously, some players are so good that everyone knows to come and watch them play. For example, Kyle Waldrop didn't have to do any of those things. He threw missiles from the mound and dropped bombs at the plate. He had great size and a terrific attitude. I dare say that you would have caught him talking trash on the internet like you guys. Ultimately, however, there aren't many Kyle Waldrop's in the USA. Most high school athletes are simply kids with some skill. The kids with the most skill, determination, and character go on to succeed at a higher level. Just like hard work, skill alone does not make a player. HUMILITY is also important.

Is Robby Martin the junior at Karns?

Come on man....take it easy. I was just having a little fun and providing some entertainment. My intention wasn't to get everyone, including you, all spun up and in an uproar.

I already said I made up the Junior at Karns to provide entertainment. See my earlier feedback to JohnDoe.

Plus, if there is a player or family getting letters and want to share this information, they can post it on here themselves. I am not going to do it for them, because it's their own personal business to decide whether or not they want to do that.

  4. Well I know my vision is blurred because I am guessing at a player who doesnt exist....no junior from karns is that good. sorrry...and good enough to be getting recruiting letters as a sophomore and junior....since ya know college coaches can recruit him then. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    Who are you talking about?

Yeah...you're right. No players at Karns that good and the player is a figment of my imagination. Obviously, only Farragut has those types of players. I made it all up to entertain you.

  5. As for committing, I am talking about players who commit around July 1 or so...like Josh Liles last year, he was committed to UT way before the signing period.

The early signing period is like the first week in November after the players junior year....that is when most above average high school players sign....thats what im talking about being the "new thing".

and im saying most high school players will have the option to play high school ball if they find the right place...the smaller schools look for players with good work ethics....and some bigger schools too...all depends on the coach. I mean its a good thing ur going D1 or else you wouldnt know about it. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

It's not lack of knowledge of players, its an opinion..just as urs is..who is the player from karns? Stroup? he is the only decent junior karns has.

Okay, we'll go with Stroup, since you really know your players. Look at the Karns write-up on the TBCA.org website. Maybe that'll help you. I'll leave it at that for now and let you know the end result when it is all said and done. Maybe you can get out to some games and see for yourself. It will be self-evident.

  6. I was speaking of players that would commit..not sign...but commit sometime around july 1 when they can start talking to you...and there aint many of them thats why i figured if anyone it would be Cade or Mac because they both work extremely hard and are the best around in the junior class.... but there will be a lot of players sign before their senior year, simply because early signing is the new "thing". I have no clue who the kid is from Karns that is a Junior...I dont recall Karns having any great JRs. Sorry. Just my opinion.

And any high school player that wants to play college baseball can find a spot...theres a place out there for everyone, you just gotta find it. And i'm talking about the kids that will work their butts off to get to the next level, regardless of skill. Skill is not as important to a college coach as work ethic.

I guess I am still not following you on the "commit" thing and the "early signing being the new thing". I'll have to wait and see on that one.

And you don't have to be sorry about stating your opinion. I just assumed it is more of a matter lack of knowledge of the players than opinion. It's a good thing you aren't the local collegiate scout... /laugh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="laugh.gif" />

College coaches are looking for skill. I don't know of any major programs that recruit hard work instead of skill. Obviously, a majority of good players are hard workers. However, I've see kids that are the hardest workers that will never even get to play high school varsity baseball. I guess you are saying they will get college scholarship offers. I can tell you.....NO WAY!!

Is there a parallel universe I am unaware of where hard work gets you a scholarship instead of being able to perform at a certain skill level?

  7. You.. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

My eyes are open on knowing the players but apprently not reading the boards..haha. i misread and thought that we were talking of players that would commit during their junior season...not in the signing period. But you will see almost anyone thats any good sign in the signing period. Players now-a-days like to sign early.

Come on JohnDoe...I waiting on some more feedback.

And did you guess what player that is a Junior at Karns I am talking about?

I mean come on....Cade and Mac are good players, so I'll give you that....but the only ones around any good...come on now. I know some more that I will name later. Someone already had to point out Powell and Cooper. You must be living a sheltered life.

    Let's hear it!

  8. As you can tell by my username, I am a fan at another school. I can say one thing though. I know a lot of the players at Farragut and they are top notch players from anybody's point of view. Additionally, their top three or four pitchers are going to be hard to beat. The top three I know well and whoever faces them in the regular season will probably see one of them and they are very hard to beat. Better spend a lot of time at batting practice to beat those guys.

  9. The Johnson kid will help Coalfield out for sure. The thing about him is he is limited to a certain postion and that is 3rd base or pitcher. OR will miss his pitching but OR is strong on the infield with 3 sophs starting. They moved so he could start his jr and sr year. I think Coalfield will benefit from that move.

OR could have really used Johnston this year. I am not personally happy from the move, but am glad from a fan's point of view because they are in our disctrict. They lost a solid player that I am not sure they can replace at this point. I still say it was a mistake to let Johnston leave. And you are correct, Coalfield will benefit greatly.

  10. They key boys are from clinton. I think? Never heard of the Johnston kid? not sure why they came to coalfield? And Rockwood has Brazielle (sp?). Has Coalfield ever faced him or even Zak Duncan? Duncan in my opinion is the best righty Rockwood has. He can throw some serious gas. 87-88 I think? With A big hook. Alot of teams will be lucky to hold Rockwood to 2 runs an inning this year. haha. and I'm still not completely convinced that Coalfield wins that side of the district. but I'm pretty convinced Rockwood wins their side. Way too much talent on that team for them not to win it. I don't know if there are any pitchers around here that can slow down rockwood. Maybe not be a team in the state that can slow them down?

The Johnston kid (Matt) is the best of the bunch and can really help Coalfield. He is the best picther, fielder, and hitter out of the three players. I have seen all three play growing up and on into high school. Johnston has always played at a high level growing up and I think he will continue to do so in high school given the right opportunity.

Yes, the Key boys are from Clinton. Check around and you can find out why they are at Coalfield.

  11. i really think that coalfield and wartburg will battle it out for the top spot and os will put up a fight because they always do every year. it will be a sad year in coalfield if they don't win the district and challenge rockwood for the top spot in the region due to all the hype up their. i don't think their pitchin will be a problem this year cause word is that they have 5 quality pitchers up their in alley, key1, key2, johnston, warwick, and the doughty kid. i just dont see how you all can say that they can't handle harriman and rockwood. i watched all these teams play last season and they will all be contenders. coalfield and rockwood in the region champ. thats my prediction. but it is baseball and it is a funny sport so who knows what is going to happen.

If Johnston is on the mound and is having a good day, he's hard to beat. He is also a good hitter and Oak Ridge should never have let him leave, especially now. He's a better player than many of OR players this year. That's their loss and Coalfied's gain. However, I can't see Corey Key being a difference maker, but maybe he'll do better in A ball than he did in AAA. I guess we'll see. Cody Key can put up a solid performance on the mound though.

I am missing something here. The junior year and the summer after is the most important time. Therefore, I am talking about players who will sign after the summer of their junior season. NCAA regulations do not even allow a coach or school to call until after July 1 following a player's junior year. I believe there is also a signiing period. Therefore, I am not following what time period you are talking about.

  13. Baseball "scholarships" are plentiful if kids want to pay the price, because its a job when you get in college. I believe every kid that has played at Ooltewah the last two seasons has gotten some sort of scholarship. The reason is that just about every college and juco has a baseball program. Furthermore, some kids that could be good college players don't want the "hassle" of having a job in college. I had this discussion with a prominent head baseball coach at a local private school who told me that he has had many players turn down scholarships.

A better question might be who is going to sign and SEC scholarship or go DI?

I disagree as there are more high school players than college openings or scholarships. Also, many great players get drafted come from schools other than D1. Many current professional star players are from schools you have probably never even heard of before. I can't argue with what that coach said, but I have never seen a top level player go through high school baseball and turn down a baseball scholarship. I can understand if it is some small unknown school hundreds of miles away.

A great majority of high school players never get an offer from any college or university. Only the top level players even any offer at all, including JUCO schools.

  14. Maybe Cade Stallings and Mac Thoreson (sp) from Farragut..other than that...there arent many in East TN or at least around Knox.

There is a player at Karns that is a Junior this year who made the Perfect Game's top 500 high school players in the nation as a sophomore. He has two recruiting letters from Miami (Ohio). Also, has strong recruiting letters from Baylor, Miss. State, Austin Peay, and Memphis State. Other schools that show a strong interest interest are ETSU, Tenn. Wesleyan (NAIA No. 10 preseason) and Chattanooga State (Finished No. 3 in JUCO for 2007 season).

    GUESS WHO?

I agree that Curtis Powell and Jordan Cooper from Farragut will sign this year.

  15. Noe is a senior..

and question... are we talking about players who are juniors that are going to go on to play college baseball or are we talking about players who will commit during their junior season??

I meant players who will commit after their Junior year during the signing period.

  16. Who are some of the top impact players and returning players to watch this year?

    Freshmen.....

    Sophs..........

    Juniors........

    Srs.............

Here are a few that I know of.

Juniors: Philip Duncan and Robbie Martin (Karns), Cody Willimason (OR), Andrew Green (Powell), Matt Marsh (Clinton).

Seniors: Austin Noe and John Michael Clarke (Halls), Jonathan Prior, Logan Hamontree, and Cody Pate (Karns)

I am sure there are many others, but that is a few players that I know of.

  17. Oh, I have not forgotten either. I think West looks to be strong this year and could prove to be the "dark horse" in the race. Their line-up and pitching looks to be strong. I think the West games will be tough ones for Karns. As we know, anything can happen in baseball.

It just doesn't look like the other teams are as strong and experienced going into the season. Like I said before, there are some top level players on all the other teams mentioned. However, it is going to take experienced players with good pitching, solid defense, and hitters from top to bottom. Based on that, I see Karns and Halls at the top in this district. West can certainly be a factor as well.

  18. Oh i havent forgotten...I'm actually standing behind one of those teams..but im simply being a realist. I've been around this district closely for 5 years. The other teams in the district simply dont have enough firepower to beat karns or halls...maybe come time for the season to start and i actually get to start watching them then i will be able to make better predictions...but as of right now, its Halls and Karns at the top.

  19. I think Karns will hang with Halls, assuming we can stay healthy. Some planned changes in the infield will improve defense. I believe the hitting will improve, even though Karns hit well last year. Three regular varsity players last year were sophomores and they should be able to step it up another level in the hitting area. Pitching is mature, with 4 seniors in the rotation. We still need some juniors to step up, though.

Oak Ridge lost a some varsity talent and Halls has some injuries. I still look at West providing good competition, though.

    My Prediction:

    Karns

    Halls

    West

    Oak Ridge

    Powell

    Clinton

    Central

    Campbell County

Hopefullu, we can come together as a team and make it out of the first District round and not go two and out.

You can see the Karns write-up at www.tbca.org in AAA section.

  20. Halls will be awesome if the pitching holds up. Looking for Clarke & White to be throwing the heat with some good quality youngsters backing them up.

Halls may have the best outfield not only in East Tennessee but the whole state. Brock, Cooper & Dayton lead the team in many offensive categories last year and have great defensive skills. Infield had some costly errors last year at the worse times costing a couple of games. If the infield plays well I see a State trip in the spring. Noe looks solid at 1st. Wallace our #1 catcher may not catch this year but should be available to pinch hit.

Can't see Karns hanging with them this year. Karns has some talent but Halls 1 thru 9 can hit the ball and have outstanding speed. Oak Ridge had a great year last year but have lost some key players. Clinton could be a surprise as could Powell. Depth wise though Halls should be as good as anyone in East Tennessee. To much senior leadership to not be a contender.

  21. Nobody at Karns thought it would be two and out that's for sure. Nothing against the teams that knocked us out, but I thought we had more talent from top to bottom. That is the part that really hurts. Both teams have talented players, but I'm talking about as a team, I thought Karns was better. It would be different if our losses had been to some top pitchers at one of the local teams in state contention. Of course, whoever thought Lenoir City would beat Bearden and Farragut? It just goes to show that anyhting can happen in baseball.
