Dawson possibly played on a partially torn MCL suffered at the beginning of the Eagleville game…nobody knew that but he tried to play through it for the team…VS McKenzie his running mobility was gone…That’s why he wasn’t returning kickoffs or punts….I promise you I have watched this kid play for 3 years now 30+ games ….he wasn’t himself at all …Dawson played at BEST 40% of what he is capable of…and in most cases that’s good enough and we win …but not last Friday vs McKenzie…Not making any excuses…that’s just the way it was that night…also didn’t help that we had to unfortunate turnovers in first half fumble & interception that set up short field for McKenzie to score TDs… plus a missed extra point on OUR last TD scored that would have tied the game… but that’s how it goes…I promise you talent wise MC was better than McKenzie BUT just not that night on the scoreboard….MC had a great season…12-1..nothing to hang our heads down about…Most teams would pray for the season we had and experienced….Good luck to ALL the teams in the Semifinals & may the BEST teams win…The Moore Co. Run or pass we perform well at both it doesn’t matter….whatever opportunities presents is what MC will take advantage of….conditions might slow down some but it want completely stop us….Our QB is dude and capable of taking over a game in any way he has to & he has plenty of weapons as his ammo…..AND if he chooses he can take over a game all by himself…..he doesn’t need much daylight at any time to take it to the house when he wants…..

We have played Moore County the past 2 years so nobody has to tell us how good they are  we know what we are walking into come this Friday night. If you go back and and read my post from earlier in the year I had Moore County as the favorite coming out the west before the season even started while everyone else was picking UC ( and UC still may make it all the way.) We are the underdog on the road against a team that has plenty of motivation to want to take us out to the wood shed. There are numerous ways this game can play out and Mckenzie winning is definitely one of those. I think back to a very young Rebel team in 2020 who they said  had no shot in a 2A quarterfinal on the road @ Peabody and the Rebels  took the eventual state champs to double overtime. We have the most respect for this Moore Co team and coaching  staff.  Our boys will show up and give them all we got and let the chips fall where they may. If we come up short we will tip our cap and move on. If we come out on the winning side the Rebels will be ready for another big test the following week. Hoping both teams  come out of this one healthy and 100% moving forward.
