  1. See, its people like you that just really don't know what your talking about. I don't give Alumbaugh credit at all, because of the fact that all he did was use us for the five years that he was there. All he cared about was getting a college coaching job, and he would do anything for that. We could have won a state championship and many more games than we did if we had a coach that was aggresive like Brown and liked to run the bases, which Alumbaugh wouldn't do because he was afraid if he got someone thrown out at home he wouldn't get a college job. Those 20 or so players that you are talking about that went on to play college ball were made in to college players mostly due to coach Brown's pitching, hitting and the amount of college scouts he brought into the games. Alumbaugh wouldn't even attempt to get scouts to come watch us.

I will definitely agree with you that Alumbaugh was not aggressive on the bases, but if you had seen this year you would have realized that Brown's coaching was too aggressive at times. They were stealing all the time, and sometimes it worked, but against better competition it got them in trouble quite often. Example A, the first Overton game that they lost in the district tourney. He had a kid steal when we were down by one run, the kid got picked, and they totally lost all momentum. And there are many other examples of that. A happy medium between the two coaches would have been nice, but I would rather give myself a chance to get a hit instead of having an out on the base-paths. Again, if you had been around the program this year you would probably not have the same opinion.

  2. I've been reading these post on and off this season, and I havent said anything because its really none of my business I guess, but now I'm going to throw my 10 cents out there because I'm actually someone who knows something about Franklin Baseball due to the fact that I played there for four years. While we were playing under coach Alumbaugh, with coach Brown and coach Jones as the assistants, we made it to state 3 out of the four years I was there. With that being said, the only person that made that possible was coach Brown. He came in our freshman year, and changed our whole program from top to bottom, pitching all the way down to hitting, fielding and baserunning. Coach Alumbaugh did absolutely nothing but manage, and Jones helped, but mainly with the hitting aspect. Franklin also lost eight seniors last year, everyone of them being starters in some way (7 position players, 3 starting pitchers). So for you people sit there and say that franklin has coaches that dont know what there doing, you couldnt be more wrong. I was personally surprised that they made it as far as they did this year due to the loss of so many seniors last year. I think coach Brown is an excellent coach, and if you know anything about anything, you should know that one team or individual can't stay on top forever. You have no right to say anything about Independence doing anything just do to the fact that Franklin dominated them for the past four years. IHS has proved nothing, and wont make it past sub-state this year. Franklin will be back at the top of the district in just a few years thanks to Coach Brown and the rest of the coaching staff.

I don't think you are giving enough credit to Alumbaugh. He added organization and structure to a team that hadn't known the meaning of hard work before he came to Franklin. And yes, Franklin made it to state three out of four years when Brown came, but it's mostly because they had great players who went on to play in college. I don't know the exact count, but it has to be around 20 players that went on to play in college. Whenever a team has that many quality players in a short span of time, they are bound to have success with a little bit of organization and structure. If you had been at Franklin this year you might have a different opinion.

  3. From what I've seen a few have to be Little and Young from Franklin, Betts, Patterson, and the SS from Overton, Kemp from Centennial, Shelton from Brentwood

Agreed I think MVP goes to Betts or Moore from Overton.

Probably Betts over Moore, I think they have to take into account the character of an individual for an MVP, not someone who behaves like Moore

  4. Maybe it would not have made a bit of difference, and I'll definitely hand it to Overton they can hit a fastball, Franklin may have played differently if they hadn't known that they had to win a double header to advance. Who knows, and I'm not trying to make any excuses here, but maybe Franklin would have played differently if it had been just one game at a time. I think most people thought Overton didn't have any pitching left (which they really didn't, Franklin would have hit that pitcher hard most days out of the week, but I'll hand it to him he did a great job) so some may have been looking ahead to Indy already, especially since it was the same day. Again, I might be wrong, but you never know what could have happened.

On another note, congrats to Indy and Overton, neither will have a problem getting past district 12 teams. Good luck in your sectionals and represent District 11 well!

  5. Does anyone even expect Franklin to give Overton a game?

Everyone I have talked to expects it to be an Overton-Indy final. Which it will happen.

Who is Overton throwing in Game 1? I would throw a freshman, he could beat Franklin.

I'll be there early to make sure I cheer Overton on to victory.

Overton threw Harton last night, he couldn't throw strikes and they had to take him out early. I don't think Overton has anybody left to pitch tonight. Last night was most definitely not a fluke, Franklin simply out-played, and more importantly out-pitched Overton. There's a fine line between being confident and then being arrogant, annoying, and just plain stupid. You have exceedingly crossed that line. Should be a good couple of games tonight no matter who wins.

  6. TSSAA CALENDAR

It is actually the 8th, not the 6th or 10th. I had looked at the calendar and saw the 6th, but that is actually for Tennis. It states on 5/8 that Districts must be completed on May 8.

If the forecast is anything close to correct, it looks like Tuesday may be the first day games are played, Monday evening if we are lucky, but with rain chances every single day next week.

With rain throughout the state, would TSSAA let district play end the 10th, since that would not hinder any region play, since that starts the 11th?

  7. The tourney does not have to be done on wed the tssaa states you must be complete by the 10th .

Finally, an intelligent post from Indyeagle. There would be no reason that the tourney would have to be done by Wednesday when the next round isn't until May 11th. The 10th is right.

  8. Well its time for the Eagles to set off and fly. The Indy Eagles will be your 2009 District 11AAA Tourney Champs. I am calling it right here. If it does not happen I will retire from coacht forever. This is the best team in this district and if not for one slip up against Overton they would be the champs. Here is my educated and professional opinion on the teams.

Indy- Best Hitting, pitching in the district. Lee will show why he is going to Vandy and Rowe will dominate Ravenwood on Saturday.

Ravenwood- Scrappy team who has no clear number 1. Can't hit the ball, best thing they have is an underrated Coach in Chad Kirby.

Brentwood- Ray and Hillis are done. There bench is split and Vaughn thinks he has the job wrapped up next year. No one cares for the Bruins

Centennial- They will make a splash by beating Franklin then Overton and play Indy where they will lose in the championship.

Overton- Not playing very well and the youth is starting to show as the season gets longer.

Franklin- They are done, they have the worst coaching, worst senior leadership, they can't hit, can't pitch, and I don't think I need to go on anymore. They go 2 and down losing to one of the Hills Saturday.

Holy crap you are an idiot. I'm not going to predict anything on here because I really think the championship could go to anyone right now. I don't think that Overton will win it because they don't have much to play for, and they're not playing well right now, it's not that they don't have the ability, I just don't think it will happen. To me, it is probably going to come down to Indy, Franklin, and maybe Brentwood and Ravenwood. I think Franklin might have drawn a better seed by losing their last two and playing Centennial and Overton instead of Indy, Brentwood, and Ravenwood. Should be a great week of baseball.

  9. 100% that tourney winner hosts. Last year Franklin had to go on the road to McGavock after they choked in the districts. Ravenwood got to host the regional semi-finals. So this year Independence will be hosting the regional semi-final.

Yes, Franklin went on the road last year after Indy choked in the district tournament. Stop talking trash and give some respect to the teams that win. Worry about this year, and just play (if you actually play). Oh, and shut your mouth

  10. The district tournament winner is automatically the #1 seed in the region, so if Overton were to lose in the district tournament they would be the #2 seed. Essentially, it doesn't matter though because district 12 is awful every year.

    7. Hill?

Indy takes home the tourney crown. Go Eagles.

Will you reveal yourself after this year, assuming you are a senior???

  11. So, what you do is call time and go out and talk to your pitcher.

    You don't:

-- yell at him to wake up

-- you don't demonstratively throw the ball back at him hard

-- you don't stomp around and motion to the dugout for him to be removed

-- when coach calls time and all to the mound, you don't toss the ball right into his chest as you huff and puff

He may be a great guy, otherwise...but you don't do that.

I agree he should have gone to the mound and said whatever he had to say, but the game was getting out of hand quickly at that point and his frustrations got the better of him. Like I said earlier, he was crossed up three pitches in a row, which would make any catcher upset.

  12. Good game between Overton and Franklin last night, with Franklin winning 11-7. Overton jumped out 6-2 against Faletta with another homer by Cole Patterson. Franklin started chipping back with a run per inning with Franklin having a big 6th inning.

Overton will have #1 Harton at 6-1 going tonight vs. Franklin's #1.

Question: What is up with Franklin's catcher. That was one of the most pitiful examples of bad sportsmanship / being a team mate that I've ever seen. His actions with Faletta in the 2nd were deplorable.

    So, here we are:

    Overton 9-2 (Franklin, Hillsboro 2x)

    Franklin 9-2 (Overton, Ravenwood 2x)

    Indy 8-3 (Centennial, Brentwood 2x)

Schedule favors Overton, of course, but nothing is a given at all. Tonight's winner should be looking pretty good.

What are the tiebreakers? Head to head is first, I assume, but would that apply if 3 teams are tied -- usually not.

I totally agree with the first thing that the catcher for Franklin said, the pitcher was struggling and he needed to wake up. I don't know if he should have said the second thing, but the pitcher is a big boy, he can handle it. There's definitely no feud between the players, and I don't think its that big of a deal. Also, in his defense he was crossed up multiple times.

  13. Who cares about individual stats? I know no one at Indy does. We care about our team goals, which is to win championships. Have you guys won anything this year? No, we beat the best team in the nation to win a tourney. BRowe is better than any pithcher on your staff, and Lee is better than any position player you have. Franklin won't be in first place that long as they will lose to Overton and get swept by Ravenwood and we come in and take 2nd place. It will be great. Talk to me next week when the Eagles are soaring and the Rebels are laying bloodied on the battlefield.

You want to talk about team goals to win championships? That is exactly what Franklin has done the past five years, and Indy has not. After this season, it will undoubtedly be six years in a row that FHS has gone on to the postseason and Independence has not. Yes, you beat the "best team in the nation," who is actually turning out to be good, but not great, and I'm glad you did. It makes our district look better when a team that won't even advance out of it beats one of the better teams in the state. I thought we were going to go 0-6 in our last six games, and right now we're 2-1 so obviously you are wrong, yet again. And to put it in your words, the Rebels will be fighting on to the postseason, while the Eagles will fall out of the nest and die before they can even get started.

  14. Franklin came back and won after being down 6-1 in the second inning. I think they scored at least one run in every inning. Final score of 11-7, Falletta struggled early but Bein came in and did very well for four innings. Tyler Harris worked out of a no-out bases loaded jam in the sixth inning to keep the score at 7-7, then Franklin scored 4 in the bottom of the sixth and Harris came back in the seventh and shut the door. Great win for the Rebels. Sounds like it will be a tough game tomorrow, as Harton is pitching for the Bobcats.

  15. I will give credit to Rowe, when he didn't walk the Franklin batters (he had quite a bit), he held them in check for most of the game. The Rebels just didn't hit the ball very well, it happens. It was a good, exciting high school baseball game, and Indy came out on top. Who knows what would have happened if they would have played when they were originally supposed to, but since the Indy field was "too wet" I guess they had to move it. Maybe.

So here's the story on the "classless" coach. After the game, the Franklin coaches and Independence coaches shook hands near home plate while Coach Moore was with the Indy players going through the line with the Franklin players. So, Moore and Franklin Coach Brown didn't shake hands, no big deal because they just weren't in the same area, and Franklin started to go back to the dugout. Moore came over to the Franklin dugout and asked why Brown didn't shake hands with him, and Brown said it was because Moore was with his players, so he shook hands with the assistant coaches. Then Moore said to the Franklin players who were standing there, "Look how much class your coach has boys," or something very similar to that. Sounds to me like it was Indy Coach Moore who didn't show very much class. I don't care what happens, a coach should NEVER say anything bad about a team's coach right in front of the whole team.

  16. Indyeagle09,

First of all I'm beginning to doubt that you are actually from Independence, because I think most people at Indy realize that you guys are not performing up to par right now, and have some work to do. When you think of something to say next time, just keep your mouth shut, you are an embarrassment to the Indy baseball team, if you are actually from Indy. Every single thing you have said about Indy and other teams in the district have been dead wrong (you can "bank on" that), let the play on the field do the talking. If you don't know what that means, it means WIN, something Indy has not done all that much this year in district 11AAA. Congrats on your "solid victory" over Hillwood yesterday though haha.

  17. Well we are too the homestretch. My Eagles had an early season slump but are on the rise again.

The district title will go to Overton. No way, Franklin even beats them once this week.

2nd place will go to my Eagles we will go 4-0 this week in the district. No one is going to beat us the rest of the season in the district.

Franklin got lucky last time we played and Tuesday they will learn that. For some reason those guys think they have done something. All they have done in their high school careers have sat on the bench and watch last year's group win big games. That whole program is in shambles, there coaches will be gone after this year. Franklin loses the next 6 in a row.

3rd Place will go to Ravenwood after they sweep Franklin next week.

I don't care about the rest. Rowe, Carden, Lee, and the rest of the Eagles are focused in on the task at hand.

When are you going to stop talking trash about Franklin and start realizing that Indy was demolished last game against the Rebels, 9-2 and it was almost never in question, and that Indy has never done anything in the district? We'll see what happens this week, I'm not going to say that Franklin will kill all their opponents, because it won't happen. All four games this week for Franklin are going to be tough, hard fought games, and I don't expect anything less.

  18. The administration is for sure the cause. They constintly had complaints and it seems the only people who are shocked that waggoner was fired are people from other teams cause their was a bunch of fueding between waggoner and brentwood baseballs players, and parents.

and we are throwing lee today and ray monday. When is colton throwing?

Robertson won't throw until mid-week next week
