Most of the girls that come through the system are products of a very good AAU program...McMinn Fire. They also have a great S.& C. program. Team chemistry along with the coaching staff, Coach Johnny Morgan, (2011 TSSAA Hall of Fame inductee) and Coach Joe Young, are two of the best in the business. Central teams are never one dimentional either, there are a number of girls that can score and if you don't play defense...you don't play!

Also remember they recruit very well through their "AAU" Mcminn Fire program, players from riceville,athen,calhoun,etowah,just to name a few.Remember McMinn is a very "BIG" County,LOL

Would like to congratulate polk co for having zero class..We cheered for yall in your first round game, yet in the championship game you sit in our section and cheer for gibson...I understand we're rivals but way to have no class..

 

Polk County kids were just jealous that they weren't good enough to make it the finals! That just shows they have NO class!!!!!!!!

Thought this thread was about the Gibson, Central Game. But, since you keep bringing Polk fans into it. Sorry they don't want to or can't cheer for you, SORRY! Jealous?? with wartburg beating OS yesterday it sealed the final 4 teams in the region. rockwood will likely play wartburg and harriman will play coalfield. the harriman coalfield game will be a great match up. rockwood should beat wartburg but you never know in the game of baseball. im sure everyone is wanting another rockwood harriman rematch as those games have proved to be very exciting. who do you think will pitch in all these matchups and what will the outcomes be?

I agree Central beat Polk. But, Mr. Roberts hurt phillips with tight strike zone. The main problem I have with him calling balls and strikes is, Polk beat Meigs 4 times, dad in stands, whats up with that he didn't even show up to watch meigs sat. or mon. Also, Tad is the same guy that met Polk football team 2 yrs. ago coming off field with both hands high in air and giving them the bird! Now is this a guy Polk would need behind the plate in a District Championship game! I don't think so, but if I'm coach trip, I would of took care of this before it ever happened. Not a problem to prove you wrong. Spoke to his family - with academics and athletics scholarship, hope scholarship and teachers state discount - Starr is making money to attend Vol State. According to what I heard, academic scholarships paid for all Vol expenses. You are right, I apologize, nah not a full ride. In a few years, he will write you a prescription to help with your stupidity.

The point was a full ride on an athletic scholarship, I said that wasn't so. Most schools juco and D- 1 depend on grades, that my friend was my POINT!!

If Polk was smart, they wouldn't throw Phillips. He is the type of pitcher Chargers eat alive - fastballs with some mph. Phillips last maybe 3 innings. To be quite honest, Central was more concerned about playing Meigs and Boyd in tournament than Polk. Good luck to both teams. Prediction - Chargers 7 Polk 5. Vol State gave Starr full ride and Vol State is playing in jr. college state finals today for the 2nd year in a row . Glad their coaches didn't seek your advice. He might have ended up at Cleveland State or Chatt State.

Sorry pal no such thing as a full ride in juco, or for that matter @ D-1 school, they only get 11 1/2 each year and no STARR wouldn't get one!! Thats a fact, if u can prove me wrong, I can admit it

Believe me Starr would play every day if he could. He asks every tuesday if he can play third but coach says there's no need to risk hurtinh his arm, just in case. It's the coaches decision to sit him the next day, not his.

And for my prediction... Chargers all the way. Polk folds the tent just like years past. The Big Blue is fired up and ready for tourney time !!!

Believe me if I was Coach Hart I would say no need to risk hurtin you're arm too!! The kid can't catch a cold at third, watched him early in the season, credit goes to hart for comin up with the "arm protection" theory!! Lets see if the big BLUE can handle phillips when it counts the most. Good luck to both teams.

It was a good game. I know for a fact that BBS Coach went to Polk because he felt the POLK Coach was making up how wet the field was. There was no standing water at 5:50 that day and the field was in great condition. Bottom line, Tripplett didn't want to play that day because it was quite cool (around 50). The principals never talked. The game was always going to be made up, just not on the Wednesday.

 

As to the throwing incident. The Polk player was hit below the shoulders. I have no idea if it were intentional even tough I doubt it. The Boyd hitter yesterday was beaned right in the ear hole. This was a very close call to being a MAJOR injury. That was classless!

As for the game, it was a good game. The HR was clearly fair. It continued to curve after it went over and it landed foul, but it went over fair and kept curving. Both teams had some mistakes that hurt them but both played pretty well. Polk is awfully talented. One of the best hitting lineups around and Phillips is a Stud. Boyd continues to improve and I hope they get to play again.

Why would the POLK coach make up that the field was too WET!As I've said before its phillips or bean pick you're poison!!! The field was in unplayable condition, how do I know? Cause I was there!! If the Boyd coach can waste the $3.50 a gallon of gas to drive to Polk to see if the field was playable or not you would think he could of got his team there on time for Thurs. game. 5:00 game time they arrived at 4:30, how do I know this again, I was there!! As for the throwing incident, Boyd coach went to mound, kid gets hit in the head, go figure!! Now thats CLASSLESS!!! Polk brought in a freshman Thurs., yea he hit the kid, he's wild as a buck but can get the job done!! Well its official, Rockwood is clearly better than the mighty mcminn central chargers! It must feel nice to get spanked twice by a single A team! Now before yall get on here and say "well we took our starters out to save them for districts blah blah blah" a loss is a loss no matter who you play! It doesnt matter whether you played your starters all game or not, Rockwood would have still won anyways! Just take it with a grain of salt and recognize that Rockwood is better and yall are just average i guess! You will definately have to play better than that to get anywhere in double AA. I guess its a good thing for you central guys that you dont have to play Rockwood three times this year, cause it would just be another spanking for yall and another big L

Central's pitching has not displayed the depth this season that was expected. The Chargers need to find some stoppers after Starr and Shaw if they are to make some noise in the playoffs. It will be a good game at Meigs. Their kids will battle to the end, win or lose. Charger bats may be coming to life at a great time in the season.

Tigers keep it close until late. Chargers win 6-2!

The rumor I have heard is that Polk cancelled so their top two pitchers could go on Tuesday and Wednesday. They had pitched on Thursday and Friday in non district games. Rumor also has it that the Boyd coach drove to Benton on Monday and the field was in excellent condition. But, like I said, RUMOR.

The rumor you heard is incorrect!! Polk had Bean ready to go, the field was lined off and ready for play until the rain arrived @ 2:30, the field was to wet, and if the Boyd coach can afford to drive to Benton, not believing the home coach, more power to him, gas is 3.30 a gallon, only wish I could afford to waste gas that way. Show up Thursday coach we'll go from there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they play each other this coming monday at meigs and tuesday at central. meigs has been playing very well behind mcginnis and rayl. how do people think this will turn out

Can someone explain to me how a coach can decide to not make up a district game. After a rainout at Polk Co. on Monday, that was to be made up on Wednesday, Boyd Buchanan's Coach decided he doesn't want to make the game up. How can that be, they are both in the same district. Will TSSAA have anything to say about it, or do the private schools really have that much clout. Either way I believe something should be done for such a "bush league" call.

Now back to the main topic or have we forgotton. The issue is with the way The Boyd Coach thinks he

can decide when to play or not. The home team has the call whether field is playable or not. I really

don't see why it would matter what day, its either phillips or bean pick your poison coach.
