For years, up until this season of course, Portland has scrimmaged Gallatin. I know it was a scrim and all but it always was a great match to watch very evenly matched. Because of this, both teams know what each other is capable of. Portland winning would surprise me at all. They clearly have the tools to win just gotta know how to use them. This first round match would be awesome to watch! You saw it in the past week. Portland is up 2-0 then Gallatin scores 4 unanswered goals! Then you add loser goes home to this and it creates a even better match i hope. One things clear neither team will give it to the other. Good luck to everyone

Sam Robinson - Portland He is only a sophomore and still has more to learn but he is a outstanding keeper. Even as a freshman he could have started if it hadn't been for a senior keeper who played instead. He started in 2 games in the 2009 district tournament and did very well. Then went to several camps this summer. By his senior year there is no doubt he will be one of the top keepers, if he isn't already, in the state.

well senior night has come and gone for the panthers. Gallatin 4 Portland 2 without a key part of gallatin's team. what does this say about the panthers?? Soccer is a tournament sport first of all. A team could lose all their district games and still win the championship. I didn't get to attend the game unfortunately. This just shows, both teams need some work. They both let goals in the net. I'm not saying they didn't work hard though, do not get me wrong. Just there is room for improvement for both teams.

O Portland played West's VR squad, and they did win 2-0. I missed getting to see the game, but I understand from other fans that the West boys bucked up and hung with them after going down 2-0 early. Looking forward to the Knoxville JV/VR spring tournament soon so that we can see all of the "up-and-comers" play each other. West Varsity squad played Heritage and won 5-0. Nothing to write home about. Everybody got to play, nobody will be too tired or banged up tonight. Thats what i was told but i didnt want to give any wrong information. thanks for the info! Thanks. Looks like Hendersonville has made a turn around. There is no doubt in my mind that Hendersonville got big headed by the rankings and expectations. Then came into the Portland game unprepared. After that they came back down to earth and was playing much better. Mt. Juliet - 3 Portland - 1

Portland plays Mt. Juliet and Station camp this week so we will have a better idea of what they look like after. As well as a better idea of what they are capable of doing. Anyone have the Hendersonville vs. Clarksville score? Also People better watch the smack talk or it just might bite you back in the butt!

That is very true, if hendersonville plays portland again they will be out for some blood. The best thing for portland to do is not get big headed. Sure you might have beat the #4 team, Rejoice a day.....or maybe even two. Then you have to turn around and get to work even harder then before. You now have the target on your back (its a big target). Portland played a outstanding game, they will have to do that every match they play this season. Come district time Hendersonville will want there payback (if portland plays them). Portland its a new week focus on the future not the past. You too Hendersonville that loss is done with prepare for the upcoming games.

Hendersonville may have came into the game thinking it was gonna be easy, but you cant say portland game would be easy to win. Portland faught hard and proved to be the better team FOR THIS MATCH. Portland deserves credit, you cant say Hendersonville should have won by a significant marigin. This was the first district match i do believe so, with that said expectations should be earned not given to teams. Portland as well as Hendersonville are different teams from last year. So the outcome could differ greatly. Im not taking anything away from Hendersonville they are great team and have been for years now. Portland has had troubles the past two years, and wanting to prove themselves in this new district im sure. This is 2010 and things could change for any team it is still to early to establish. Over all this game was a great match. Good luck to both teams throughout the season.

the Hendersonville vs. Portland game score is correct i personally attended the match, exciting match to watch. game stayed tied until about 2 min left in the game portland was on a counterattack, and #3 for portland had the speed to beat out two hendersonville defenders. Keeper came out of the box and got chipped. The match was Pretty even first half. Portland had multiple chances to score but could not finish, as well as hendersonville. Second half hendersonville took constant shots but they were off frame, as well as many amazing saves by portland keeper and a few close calls. Portlands defense had a outstanding game as well. It seemed like Hendersonville came into the match thinking it was going to be easy. Portland gave them all they had though and proved to be the victor. Great match good luck to both teams throughout the season

Portland has put ALOT of money into the complex for it to be so useless to portland teams. I think Steve Glaser has finally got two guys committed to getting a select team started this summer hope it works out. soccer1003 i agree with everything you said, you hit the nail on the head! lol

The good quality coaches have left. Not saying they all are gone they still have a few very few. Also the rates to play are ridiculous for the program to not be top of the line. Its like $70-80 for older kids and $50 for younger ones. Another reason is the soccer board for psc isnt what it used to be. In past years you had to take coaching classes and have a license to coach teams. That rule does not exsist anymore. You have soccer dads that coach just to have certain people on your team like friends or people of that nature. Most of these dads dont know soccer inside out, just the basics and such. Due to the increase amount you have to pay to play people dont sign up. Teams used to not have to travel cause you had like 5-6 teams from one age group now you have two from the older kids and like three from u-10. As far as i know they are traveling to white house to play, along with other teams in the sumner county area.

I can understand what you are saying to some extent. The portland soccer club (city league) standards have been lowered extremely, as a result the talent level has somewhat been lowered. There is still players on the portland team that are from the generation when portland soccer club had a outstanding program. So those players are still playing high school ball and can make a huge difference. Sorry for the confusion the way i interpreted your post was that you was saying portland wont have a good team this year. I stand corrected lol
