  1. Whatever. I don't blame you for not wanting to live in the past. I am a fan of all 7-A. I just thought it was tacky. CR will win it all and go undefeated.

If you want to compare the past then by all means do so. Only Shelbyville stacks up with CR but that's not the point now is it. I did not mean to sound tacky, as you put it, but having watched JC in about 1/3 of their games this year they always looked the same. J. Brown got all he could out of this particular team and the inevitable happened tonight. PC is tough, has always played tough and hung close to CR in their meeting in Byrdstown. I was not at all shocked or even surprised that they beat JC and I thought they deserved it. They showed alot of heart and JC wasn't hungry for the win. Looking into the future, since we're time traveling, next year 7A will have more parity than at any time in recent history. CR, JC, CC, and PC will all have strong teams.

  2. Kinda the way they pulled your plug 5 times last year? It was a good win for PC without lowblowing JC. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

Actually "they" didn't. I don't recall this years team playing last year. Live in the past if you like but I wasn't lowblowing anyone. JC is well coached and played like they have all year, as good as they could. The fact that anyone would be shocked is funny cause if you've watched any 7A this year you knew it was simply a matter of time until some of the other coaches figured them out. Pickett has always been on the verge and deserved the win. If they beat CR Wednesday my hat's off to them cause they will have deserved that as well.

  3. UH.....You might want to see if Grace Baptist and Coalfield agrees with you! /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

    Previous Lady Buff Slaughters

Tue Jan. 6 at Grace Baptist Academy W 72-22

    Mon Feb. 9 #13 Coalfield Homecoming W 76-27

Fri Feb. 13 Grace Baptist Academy Senior Night W 70-29

And Grace was the regular season District Champion (more than 5 wins)

....and they beat Red Boiling Springs by 53 in their first meeting. None of these games were intentional blowouts but when the subs come onto the court you cannot tell them not to play. They run the offense and score when they can as they should. If the opponent's first team can't stop the CR second and third teams than that's not the CR girls fault. They just want to play as much as the starters.

  4. Wow. Sorry I said what I thought. I am pretty sure that you come on hear and say what you think. I am pretty sure the reason CR held JC to 8 points was because JC couldn't have thrown one in the ocean in the first half. CR defense did take JC out of their groove. All you have to do is penetrate to the foul line and pull up for a jumper. If CR and JC meet again you will see that more or should see it more. Hopefully JC will be hitting that night. I just observed the other night that CR can be beat. I wasn't sure they could until I saw the district tourney game. I just want to say that CR has a great team and is very well coached. And Molly Heady is a wonderful player and I am glad to see her get MVP. She earned it. You can't blame a JC fan for wanting to see their team win though.

Wow, that's it. Just penetrate to the foul line and pull up for a jumper. That's all it takes to knock off CR. All these other coaches couldn't figure it out and now here on Coach T the revelation is revealed. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  5. How can you even think j county did bring their game? Leonard only had 7 points. And if it was not for bowman they would have gotten beat alot worse. Only one who showed up on offense was bowman. Leonard could not get her touches she usually gets. I agree they are consistent, but think about it when your starting a freshman and 4 sophmores their will be some inconsistency.More than Coach Brown wants im sure. I promise you if J county brings their a game and actually runs an offense the game will be alot different. Believe me or not you will see. I agree the refs did. The statement you made is correct Clarkrange came to play and did so..And jackson county didnt. I have Watched J county alot. When they play great and when the play horrible and run an offense. I agree that each lady does. But there is no since in saying something about leonard when you can pick out something about everygirl that you dont agree with.

There's a reason she only had seven points, Bubba. You say she didn't get her touches and you act like it's because JC wasn't doing all they could. They got SMOTHERED in the first half by the CR defense. Literally smothered. Eight total points in a half indicates outstanding defense. They didn't get many open looks all night and Leonard was taken totally out of her game by the DEFENSE. Why don't you give CR some credit and quit waiting on this magical "game" that JC has yet to bring.

  6. Actually I was looking right at it from close up and the two Pickett girls were on the floor when the CC girl drove to the basket. The girl in question, #22, while on the floor, grabbed the CC girl's foot as she was driving and the ref called a foul. Legitimate call. When #22 regained her feet she mumbled something but it was only one word and the ref was too far away to hear what she said but he T'ed her up anyway. Uncalled for IMO. He was just staring at her the entire time she was getting up off the floor as if he wanted her to do something so he could call the technical. It resulted in a seven point trip for CC which turned the entire game. I thought he was just itching to call the tech and that it was not justified but that's just one man's opinion.

  7. This will be a good game and I hope I'm not there to see it. LOL I hope my Lady Bees are playing that night. The lady Buffs are sooooo goooooood but don't count JC out yet. If it's a half court game and stays in the 40's JC will have a hard time winning. IMO The way to beat Clarkrange is in the transition game. JC has the speed to do this and the shooters to beat that match up zone. But you have to hit the shots or the lady Buffs will DOMINATE the boards.

    Good Luck To All !!!!!!!!

Well, I hate to tell you but you do not want to try and run with the Lady Buffs. The transition game is their forte which is why most teams try and slow down the tempo and keep the score low/close. If it gets into a running game CR will blow the lid off of this one quick as all of them run the floor exceptionally well. Jim Brown has the right idea; slowwwww down the pace and keep the score close. Hold on to the ball as long as possible on offense because if CR doesn't have the ball they can't score. He's done it twice and he's kept his team in it pretty much but if he wants I'd love to see a run and gun game as it plays to CR's strengths. JC doesn't match up at all with CR so unless the Lady Buffaloes fall asleep I don't see any different result than the previous two meetings BUT that's why they play the game.

  8. You couldn't make the team anyway! You have to be able to chew bubblegum and walk at the same time. I am sure your jaws are strong enough, but you lack the coordination. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> Plus you have to be smarted than the ball and from what I gather from your posts, thats not happening either!

Now that's funny even from someone I don't always agree with. Tryouts are a good idea though. I think we should put out a statewide, or maybe nationwide, call for any girls that might want to improve their game and college prospects. I mean it doesn't matter that CR has only had two girls come into the program over the last ten years that were from out of county and actually lost four to other schools. Why let facts stand in the way. Let's go out and get some talent. Lord knows graduation is going to kill the program this year so why not recruit now so we'll be ready for '10. I can't think of any family that wouldn't want to move into beautiful, job rich Fentress County. Man, we've got it all here, high unemployment, low class housing, little if no potential for success but hey, it's all about the program right? I'll take Memphis and Nashville and some of you can take Knoxville and east Tennessee and we'll get 'er done as someone, who ranks high in the opinions of Fentress Countians everywhere, might say. Yea, there's a million reasons that entice people to want to come here. In truth, some of you are pathetic with your stupid, innane comments. The CR girls work hard and play hard. That's why they are successful year after year. Coach Rogers is the best at getting all he can from his players and it shows in his record and the record of the program. He's the winningest coach in all of Tennessee and the program is the winningest in the history of Class A. These are high school kids so unless you're one yourself, get off it.

  9. Congratulations to Clarkrange for a great season, 30 - 0* is an incredible accomplishment*, in this day and age its very hard to do.

You would almost have to have great players from other teams move into your area just so you could put together such a team...oh thats what you did.......What about Marxhall County over in AA, they did it with players from their own neighborhood and played Top Ten AAA teams during the season....now thats something

Not saying the girls did not come out and practice and play hard every night,

Really just a super AAU team, everyone would be a great coach if they could just pick their players off other teams

This one is like Barry Bonds...gets an asterik.*

I know its mean, but got a call it as I see it.....

Call it like you see it? Then you must be blind. Every player with the exception of ONE are all born/raised in Fentress County and came up thru the Fentress County school system. And even without the one player that transferred in CR would still be undefeated this season. Your post is just childish and really classless. Grow up.

  10. I really wouldn't put any credance into anything eyeonu, should change it to headupbutt, has to write here. He obviously knows very little about basketball. Don't sweat this guy. Besides, don't you have more fun running me down /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  11. You apparently don't know much about CR program. They have 3 girls in the last 8 years come from somewhere else. One came from Wartburg several years ago, that team never made it out of region. Another from in county where there was a personal issue with the York coach, I won't get into that. She isn't playing much yet as a sophomore, maybe more next year. Then you have Molly who has family up here. Now go ahead and tell me about all the recruiting CR does. You know nothing of CR, so don't pretend you do!

Actually they made it to the state final four with Ashley Howard who came from Wartbug. That was her Junior year. Her senior year they lost in the regional semis. CR has also lost great talent such as Chelsea Brown and Destiny Dishman who ended up at Stone Memorial and the Ross twins who left Fentress County and went to Jackson County so girls move around all the time. Molly left because she will be better prepared for college ball having played for Lamar then if she had stayed at Monterey where they didn't practice as much and losing was no big deal to them. The girls that play at CR and JC will be seen much more by college scouts/coaches then if they play at other schools. That is just a simple fact. At the last CR/JC game coaches from one SEC school, one Div 1AA school, and an NAIA school were in attendance. Don't think you'd see them at the Monterey/RBS game. Not being cruel but that is the way it is. Currently, CR is ranked #1 in Class A in the state, #2 in all classes, and #65 nationally in all classes. A program like this will draw the attention of college coaches everywhere and these coaches know that a Lamar Rogers coached kid is going to be fundamentally ready for the next level. Same thing with JC girls. They live basketball at these two schools so it's only natural that the best athletes want to play for them. They want the exposure and more importantly, especially in Molly's case, they want to win and win and win.

  12. Coach Roger's record is 933-194. He's closing in on 1000 wins. Amazing job and is currently the winningest active coach in all of Tennessee. 18 state tournament appearances in 32 years so CR is in the state tourney more than every other year. 7 state championships is also the best in Class A. I'm not sure but it looks like mathematically every player that has ever played for him has played in at least one state tournament. He does all of this with alot of class and humility. Best man I've seen at his job.

  13. You are too easily insulted! First of all, I love watching the talent in this Upper Cumberland area play, and we have some very good teams that are well represented by players and coaches. But let's be realistic for a minute: How many of these girls have 2 players on their team that will go on to play big time college ball? One poster said that only about 3-5% of all players even receive scholarships which I would agree sounds realistic to me. We played a team with 2 exceptionally good players and they had us beat in height and muscle and probably speed. Somehow we managed to make the plays we needed to make at the right times. I was excited to see our girls play like that, but that is the past, and today is a new day. What we did yesterday doesn't matter; we have to set our sights on this next run of play. CRange is undefeated which is a great accomplishment for any team, but I do think it benefits any team to stay level-headed and grounded. I know you don't represent all of the fine people in Clarkrange, but I find your comments to be arrogant at times. I really think great players learn to have respect for other great players or they usually end up wishing they had.....

I am not the least bit insulted. Had your original post been worded like this one then I would have not reacted the way I did BUT my interpretation of what you wrote originally was that no other team JC would face was nearly as good as the team they beat in Florida which is hogwash if that's the way you meant it. Apparently you did not mean to insult CR, LA, Upperman, etc. but that's the way I took it so no harm done. CR played a team in sub-state a few years back with a big, talented girl who signed a scholarship with Mississippi State and she was a great player but CR ran them off the floor. One or two great players does not a team make as you know. We are all very fortunate to be able to watch District 7 basketball because it is the best in the state if not everywhere. Great talent and great coaching.

  14. Let me remind you that you were the one that got offended when I talked about the caliber of the players on that Florida team. I was just asking you to explain to me where that caliber was on your team? I'm not the one that is bragging, I'm just asking you to back your opinions up which you can't.

Pride goeth before the fall.... remember those words...

Where's the caliber of talent on CR? Are you kidding? Of course I know JC can beat the LA Sparks as well and keep Candace Parker in single digits and probably single handedly win a gold medal at the Olympics for the good 'ole USA so who am I to point out that both CR and Upperman have beaten them by 19 points in the two games that each of them have played. You insulted every team in this entire area when you said that no one around here had anything near the talent level of that team in Florida. That is pure BS and you know it.

  15. Oh yea, and again, CR is currently ranked #2 overall in the state in one poll (over your beloved Oak Ridge, Wilson Central, etc., etc.) and #6 overall in another so those that know much more than you know the talent that exists in Class A. You go to one game and you think you know something.

  16. Not only compete but they could win the state in AA. Their record against Upperman is 52-10 by the way and I assure you none of the AA schools want CR on their schedule. Both CR and JC can compete and win at any level in this state. If you knew as much as you think you do you'd at least know that.

  17. CR is the class of Class A, but CR would not win AA nor even be near the top of AAA. It's a faster game with bigger and better athletes.

Really stupid comment. Sorry but really stupid. Clarkrange has already beaten Shelbyville and Wilson Central this year, is ranked number 2 in the state overall in one poll and number 6 overall in another. These polls are in all classes. They are also nationally ranked. They routinely beat AAA schools. When they have played Upperman they have beaten them regularly as well. To say you don't know your A from a hole in the ground would be a total understatement. Your comment ranks as the dumbest I've ever read at this site and that's going a long way.

  18. KGM, since you think that was an absurd comment, please tell me who on Clarkrange's team will play for LSU or Wake Forest?

My point was that I saw Jackson County girls play at a different level that particular game which caused them to beat a very great 3A team. We haven't brought that game against your girls yet.........

That's really another silly comment. Who on JC will ever play for LSU or Wake Forrest??? No one. There's no "magic wand" which placed JC in a trance when they played at this mystical level you believe you saw. Any of the good upper Cumberland teams could have won that tournament which, by the way, doesn't mean anything in Tennessee. JC has dropped five games, four of them to two opponents both of which won by a total of 19 points. That's reality.
