  1. Many summer opportunities available. Had wrestlers from all over the state compete at the Cadet National Duals recently for team TN. As we speak, we have a team of young men representing Tennessee at the Junior Duals in Tulsa, OK. There are also wrestlers preparing for Fargo next month. It's a busy time of year for many. I guess slow is a relative term.

  2. Further, IF Ryan was only going to bring their varsity (which, again, they weren't) wouldn't the preparations that were apparently so burdensome for CBS be eased significantly by that? Your whole line of reasoning is ridiculous

Ridiculous? When you're planning for 50-60 wrestlers, and you bring less than 20, and absolutely no youth? No thanks. A huge let down for a lot of young wrestlers and parents. You think that's ridiculous?

It's fine...I knew about the cancelation before FR knew about it. My vote was to cancel. Personally traveled to Nashville the two previous years like many other wave wrestlers and parents, and FR couldn't fully do it once? Puh-leeeeaze!

A few back-ups and varsity doesn't cut it. We had full JV and entire club youth ready to go. Just like we traveled two years previous to FR. Rented extra buses and all when we traveled. FR brings a few back-ups and varsity their 1st trip? Weak. We were prepared for full youth, full JV and varsity.

Face it, FR didn't keep up to their end of the bargain. Apparently, it's ok if we come to you. But, you can't return the favor? Again, thanks but no thanks.

  3.

    Please elaborate

Like I said several months ago, the Bro's have traveled youth, JV and varsity for the past two years straight to Nash-Vegas. The one year FR finally comes to Memphis, and all they bring is varsity, and varsity only, is a slap in the face. Preparations were being made to wrestle everyone and feed everyone, youth through High School, and all that was coming was varsity??? Thanks, but no thanks.
  4. What a loser, that's the point who cares about DEC its about tssaa tourney time ie now and that is what Pat simp and the purple Irish faithful are about. Maybe the makeral snappers out west ought to figure out it is about rings not mid season exploits

If winning and losing is "the" point, please re-evaluate what you're teaching your child.

  5. Jackhole? Bad day? At least bring something to the conversation other than insults. By the way, "I don't know" = less than nothing.

Oliver was so far above his opponents and clearly on another level. I don't recall the people sitting behind me Oooing and ahhhing over any other wrestler. His dominance was unmistakeable and obvious.

  6. Is tech falling 2 guys in the 2nd period more deserving than 3 first period pins? What credentials are you referring to then? I realize that he's nationally ranked, but what does that have to do with this tournament?

How about a Junior Fargo National Championship? Let's see, how many TN wrestlers from any division can say that? None! It's never been done. And yes, he is nationally ranked as well. How many other TN wrestlers from any division can say that this year? Well, none. Also, he has never lost to a TN wrestler in his career. How many wrestlers....never mind. Oh yeah, he's dominated 3 State championships. Enough credentials yet?

  7. Sammy Cribbs one of the best referees in Middle Tennessee. Said by nobody.

There were four or five people down on the floor grading these officials and somehow they graded Sammy high enough for the finals. Somehow they need to be healed accountable for there selections. The kids deserve better from the officials and did not get it last night.

Not sure if this is the same referee. But, in the CBHS v. MBA dual earlier that day, there was an insanely bad call that was very similar. In sudden death OT, the CBHS wrestler put the MBA wrestler flat on his back. The ref in error, immediately stopped the action and ended the match due to the TD without giving the opportunity to finish the pin. Luckily for the Bro's, they got an unexpected win in the final match, as to avoid this erroneous mistake costing them the dual win.

The same referee #1208, made a highly questionable stalling call that decided a heartbreaking CBHS match in the final "second" of the 3rd OT, the night before. If you're a Bro's fan, after two such critical, impactful calls by the same ref in (2) straight duals, it was difficult not to feel that there was an agenda. However, after what happened in the DII finals, maybe one or two of these refs are just that bad.

Unfortunately, the blatant mistakes of these inept few, are impacting outcomes and deciding matches. I just hope that the powers that be are holding them accountable. These wrestlers work too hard and sacrifice too much to deserve any less.

There are some very good refs in the state. But overall, the quality of Tennessee wrestling is so far above the quality of TN officiating.

  8. 132 & 138 absolutely will have to be on their game to pull that combo off, like to see 113 & 120 make that happen. 126? I'm beginning to wonder if Debian couldn't give Elijah Oliver a close match now. Keep it a decision and won't doubt the rest. Win for WC on this Cinderella Evening!

    Soddy First!

Oliver doesn't even wrestle 26. But, Debien has never given Elijah a match. I believe he is 0-5 against Oliver, pinned in about 30 seconds last time they wrestled. Why do you think he could give him a match now??? He has never come close.

  9. Lost Camera. We lost our camera at the tournament Saturday. It was a Sony NEX 5N with an extra lens. If anyone found it please let me know. The camera is valuable, but the pictures are irreplaceable. We are offering a $100.00 reward. Any coaches willing to send an email out to their parents would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for any help. Email me at sfitires@yahoo.com.

    Bump. ^^^

  10. You guys spend more time justifying the importance of having middle school wrestling topics in the HS category than you do actually talking about middle school wrestling.

I merely suggested that there were categories specific to what you wanted to discuss. No worries...you've got your threads where you want em'. So, let's talk MS and AAU club wrestling.

Big state tournament and regional all star duals this past weekend. Discuss....

  11. Hey, that's a great idea. Keep the youth wrestlers seperated from the middle school and high school wrestlers on forums like this. Seperation is exactly what TN wrestling needs FCOL. Better than half of the youth wrestlers in AAU have older brothers and sisters that currently wrestle, or they look up to an older youth that wrestles. I like seeing results/info from all of TN wrestling on one forum like this and I'm sure that the AAU, middle school, and high school coaches and families do, also[/size]

A bit dramatic don't you think? I doubt posting middle school wrestling in the middle school category, and AAU in the AAU club category is going to be the doomsday of TN wrestling, and ruin your coacht experience.

  12. I've been to the past (6) AAU State Tournaments. What I remember is they seeded randomly based on regional placing. In the six years I've been involved, I don't remember seeding really being a problem, or anybody complaining about it.

It all kind of worked itself out, and the cream generally rose to the top.

  13. 113- Oliver decs Debien d1 (0) d2 (6) oliver pinned him last time but all other match ups have been close. Debien simply too good to get pinned again.

    Ow- Baker

    Best Match Debien vs Oliver

Too my knowledge, Oliver and Debien wrestled (4) times in the past two seasons. Oliver is 4-0 against Debien with a Decision, (2) Majors and a Fall. Not sure why anyone would think this would be the best match between D-I and D-II.
