They went to a bid selection. They send out requests for bids each contract cycle and the “best” bid given compensation and accommodations gets the contract. I 100% agree it should be centrally located (Nashville) to be the most fair it can be but no one in the Nashville or west has any interest in hosting it apparently. If UTM or Memphis or wherever doesn’t want it it’s not like you can force them or if UTC or Tech submit a better proposal what else would you do. I do think Chattanooga is not fair for west teams but we have 2.5 hour travel to some region games (by bus, imagine how long it takes me to hitchhike in heels!), 5 hours for a championship game would be fine by me.
For the geographically challenged, Chattanooga is 3.5 hours from Johnson City.
Chattanooga is not a bad location.

Impressive running.

I can see a bunch of hollering hooting and crying from the east TN crowd if they even talked about moving them to the University of Memphis.
Memphis makes no sense.
I believe it is going back to Cookeville once Tech gets their stadium repaired.

Word around that water cooler is that he is coming to Kingsport. Take that for what it's worth.......
I have heard that as a wish but not a rumor.

I've been a Franklin fan for 23 years.
My two sons went to Franklin.
Yes, there has been a shift in the talent.
However, I have not seen great coaching on the offense.
I think the coach just wasn't ready to be a HC, at least in this situation. I wish him well and hope he has another HC opportunity.
The timing seems odd but I believe Shane is a good guy and is well respected.
This may have been to protect next year's team more than getting a win this year.

My motivation is to shine a light on something that affects young people. Nothing more.
I hope you are right but understand why your true motivation might be questioned.

However you want to consider your allegations, the facts related to your posts do create a question of true motive.
I hope you can see that.
-
When someone makes 21 of their 22 posts (as of this point) to bring negative allegations on a coach, the rest of us have to wonder your true motive.
I think you can understand that.

Murfreesboro seems logical. I love Chattanooga but it is a difficult drive from West TN. Too much going on in Nashville already.

Make a change to TN HS basketball due to one game in AL?
Too funny.

Pickett Co lost to AAA Cookeville at Cookeville early in the year. They were up by 10 but got into big foul trouble and lost. They lost at AA Livingston by 4 then beat them in the rematch by 13 or 14. They lost at state #2 Clay away but lost by 3 at home tonight. A more than half court three at the buzzer bounced out or it would have been OT...and Pickett's best player who averages over 20 a game could only play a few minutes so that was a huge factor. They lost by 1 to Clinton Co, KY who is 10-1 with a 2 point loss. If they were a smaller school and played in single A in Tennessee they are good enough to win the state. Pickett beat York by 12. York beat ranked Oneida by 15 and 25. Pickett has wins over 4 AA teams. They have only lost to one A team...#2 Clay Co. Pickett should be in the top 5
Let's see. If you take that equation and multiply by the month you were born and divide by the year you were born . . by golly you are right.
Just kidding.
I understand wanting a good team to be recognized. CoachT has them at 13 but likely does not factor the out of state teams.
Get in the tourney and win. That will prove your point. Good luck to the team.

Since we have already have the Football coach named. How about the Boys and girls basketball? How about the Baseball and Softball coaches? Does anyone know if they will be hiring from within or know of any name coaches that might be considering these?
Who is the football coach?

To boil it down, it is up to the teams to prove the rankings wrong. The district standings, based on team performance, matter.
As for the handling of Covid, some calls were good and some bad. I hate it for the players that are not able to play. But, the decisions have been made.
Enjoy the games that are being played.

Indeed, congrats to Oakland. What an impressive team all season.
I look forward to watching the rematch with Brentwood.

man o man, Maryville looks really bad..... said all the schools who have been playing basketball the last few weeks...
Or just a casual fan who watched the game tonight.
Don't be a hater because your team lost tonight.
Maryville is great program whose team did not look good tonight.

Likely so but better than going home with nothing. Is this the worst playoff loss for Maryville?

Glad Maryville got on the board.

You don't need HD to see Maryville looks weak tonight. I know it is unusual to hear, but it is true tonight.

Maryville will be back just like after two years ago. These are two great programs that reload every year.Whole lot of teams sitting at home tonight that would love to be playing. This is just Oakland's year to go to the finals "unless" something crazy happens .
No doubt Maryville will be back loud and proud again.
Oakland will be back as well, likely with a state title.
Don't look down on other programs. Most every team works hard to be their best.

Watching this game makes me realize more and more that athletes win high school games not coaching. Yes coaches put those guys in position but any middle school coach could win with what Oakland has. Usually Maryville does this to other schools due to having better athletes. Oakland has some impressive dudes.
One and done, maybe. Most of the multi-year successes are a combination of great players and coaches.
Maryville got hit hard early and can't keep up. Maybe than can get a little traction and not let this get worse for them.
No shame in losing to Oakland but most expected more from Maryville.

If not for a hurt player . . . .
Moore County had a good year and is a historically great team but they are not the champions, nor should they be, this year.
