  1. It doesn't matter, one guy can't do much.
  2. Kyle Quillen SS from Sycamore Purcell from Waverly LHP Sophmore (I am biased of these two, because I am a District 11AA fan) Johnny Newsome from Clarksville NE Tony Kemp Dylan Golden Mike Moore Montgomery C from CreekWood Haven't seen most of these kids play so I can't speak from experience.. Can someone tell me the teams of these players
  3. He may not be the best, but he is top 5. Kyle Quillen from Sycamore High School. Senior and 4th year to start the position. 415 plus hitter and has Ju Co's begging for him (from what I was told). He is easily the MVP favorite for district 11AA.
  4. You are correct, this is the rule.
  5. If you'll read my post completely you'll know that my prediction was for the REGULAR season, NOT the tourney... So it would be impossible for purcell to beat Sycamore twice in the REGULAR season. Now back to my point. Sycamore will win the SEASON because purcell can't beat them twice because they play back to back days, as does most other series'. Just to set the record straight for you Boobie, I am not a "Sycamore Guy". I am from Montgomery Central, and I follow the whole district. I only know Sycamore info because a really good friend/co-worker is a parent of a player there. I even showed your beloved CreekWood some love in saying ya'll would win the tourney.
  6. Explain "Sycamore Cockiness". I can't think of Carrigan off the top of my head when he played, but if you will notice, any great baseball player has a presence about him that is confident. I think your confusing confidence and swagger with cocky. Did he walk around talking about how great he was? Because if so, that would be cocky. Who do you root for or play for, boobie?
  7. I got a little more info over lunch from my friend from Sycamore regarding the coaching staff. I thought that this would help clear up any confusion. Johnny Staggs is the head coach, and he has been there since 03 as an assistant and is well deserving of being the head. My friend tells me that he is very laid back and good with the kids. Daniel Smiley is the "head" assistant I guess you could call it. He played at Sycamore until 03 or 04 and then played junior college baseball at Jackson State(I think). His first year of coaching was last year with Sycamore. And if my friend is correct he teaches at Sycamore now. Alot of people around Pleasant View according to my friend think that Smiley wants to be the head coach someday after Staggs steps down. My friend told me that Smiley and Staggs last year helped 3 players get baseball scholarships (Two at Motlow St and one at UT Martin). This is what my friend said the parents are excited about the most, is the coaching staffs' committed effort in marketing the players. Now, Matt Carrigan graduated in 06 and played at Freed Hardmen for two years and now just goes to school and Coaches. My friend said that he is knowledgeable as well, and should bring some life to this team. I hope this was helpful, and I want to here from someone from each team. I want to hear some names of players I need to write down for when they Come here to Central. And is the tourney this year still double eilimination?
  8. I do not know boobie.. I dont think he is very old, maybe 19 or 20. So I would say so.
  9. My friend and I actually got on this topic today, about the coaches. And he was talking about Smiley inparticular. Daniel Smiley is his name. His first year coaching was last year with Sycamore is what my friend told me. Also he told me a few weeks back that Smiley is a former player at Sycamore that played college ball somewhere. Probably graduated from Sycamore around 02 or 03 I would guess. He is probably 24 or 25 years old. I don't know much more. But I do know this is his second year and he was over JV last year because my friends son played all JV last year. From what I can tell through hearsay he is rather knowledgeable and motivates well. And Matt Carrigan is a former player and this is his first year coaching I know for sure. And he played college ball somewhere to I think. Jon Staggs has been there a while I know for sure.
  10. Sycamore's staff according to my friend is Kyle Quillen, Jayce Hunter, Cory Carrigan, Garrett Mayburry, and Jake Sirmeyer. Kyle, Jayce, and Cory all started last year, and got alot of inningsc
  11. Sycamore had the best talent last year hands down!! Correct? If anyone would like to argue, please do. 05 they won the season if I am not mistaken. So that would make two years of the last four in which they did not win the tourney. Which brings me back to my original point, they blow it every year when it comes to the tourney. Thats my only point. Now I will predict the district IMO. This is just the reg season, cause we know Sycamore's past now right? 1. Sycamore (Too many arms and 5 maybe 6 returning starters/big senior class) 2. Waverly (Maybe the honeymoon remains with Purcell, I dang sure won't pick against him, but he cant beat Sycamore twice) 3. FairView (heres my dark horse, they made a run in the tourney last year, lets see if it carries over) 4. Creek Wookd (Very easily could win the district, and they are my predictiion to win the tourney) 5. Montgomery Central (I would love to put us higher but I can't, but we are better than harpeth) 6. Harpeth (Weird team to me, I really think they could shock 11AA this year, if not this year then next for sure) 7) Stewart County (Sorry Pieratt you cant pitch and play 8 other positions, shoulda came the Central) 8) Cheatham (Duh, a football coach now? C'mon Cheatham. No, in all seriousness Finely is a fine young man and will teach them alot. I am pulling for him!! Feel free to call me an idiot, but this is just my opinion. Creek Wood, I mean no disgrace in putting you 4th I just feel that you won't be at your peek until tourney time. Which is why you will win the 2009 trophy. I gurantee that. You guys have always been a good tourney team. FairView, make me proud, don't make me look like a JackA**. And Sycamore, maybe these new coaches will be the change ya'll need. That's all my friend talks about is how much he loves these new young "firey" coaches. (That was their exact words) Waverly will be okay this year, I just wonder about their bats. Good Luck to every single 11AA team, I truly mean that. I enjoy watching every home and away series with Montgomery Central, and the tourney. Speaking of, where will the 2009 tourney be held?
  12. Well utmc218 I didn't say that they were terrible. I am just talking about last year. Sycamore ran through most every team last year until it came to crunch time and that little freshman from Waverly shut them down and had the game winning hit. I am an avid district 11AA fan and I have watched Sycamore for years have the best talent in the district and blow it. I have heard that the old coach was the reason for that, we will find out i guess since he is no longer there to be blamed. Now, understand I am not against sycamore by no means. As I said before one of my co workers.good friend is a parent on the team. Does anyone have any news on Montgomery Central? Maybe a couple players could update me. All I get is hearsay until games start up.
  13. My source on Sycamore says that they are appearing to be a solid defensive team and a decent hitting team. With 4 or 5 experienced seniors they should be in the hunt for a district title if the district is down again. I would be willing to bet that no district 11aa team will get out of regions anyway..
  14. Montgomery Central is looking like a strong defensive team, with So-So pitching. This is what I hear, I don't go watch practices. I doubt Dunn would like that. I hear of two good pitchers and a solid D. Not much about an offense, but that will come with time. As well coached as we are, we will be fine. I will get my update on Sycamore tomorrow and post on here what I hear. I love the updates on everyone. How about FairView and Waverly???
  15. Like i said, I don't wanna bash coaches. I just wanted to start convo... I am excited to hear all of this info around the district. I will only be able to give info about Mont Central and a little about Sycamore. KS, this Scholl kid. Is he a big loss and a big add to Sycamore? My parent source at Sycamore does not know about him???? Coachrop, I have been to Creek Wood and thankyou for moving those speakers up.. My aged ears ring for days when my wife and i leave there
  16. And Ks, how is Harpeth looking? I hear not so great thing about the head coach.. I don't want to use this forum for bashing coaches, but thats just what i hear.
  17. I know Central is looking decent this year, Montgomery that is. It really all depends on some of their juniors. They have a lefty that will throw some people off, but isn't untouchable. I think we will be 3rd or 4th this year depending on how things shake out. I also hear that Sycamore has hit the ground running with their new coaching staff in place. A co-worker of mine is a parent on the team, and they say that this staff has inspired the whole town. We will see though. I still think that Waverly and their two leftys are the team to beat. Dont ever count out Creek Wood or Harpeth though. Hey Coach Rop, how is your young men looking? -Go Indians
  18. i check this thing about once a week, but what do you wanna talk about? Like I said before I know Mont. Central well, and know Sycamore Some.. Are you a coach in 11aa rop?
  19. I know a little about sycamore, because I work with a guy that lives in pleasantview. I think his name is Jon Staggs that got the head coach with Smiley being the asisstant again. I really don't know much else. I will try and find out more. Mont Central will be back this year. . Dont count them out! Go indians!
  20. I would say the ego problem comes from you ball basher. Who are you to talk about any of these kids? Off any team. Who ever you are (parent, coach, player). You were a spectator at the District Championship game and district tourney. You have no clue what you are talking about, you got every play wrong in that game while you were dissing on Guye. And I think I remember you saying he wasn't even the MVP of his team, is that correct? I think so, anyhow, I have a friend close to this team and they said Tyler batted around .450 for the year. Led the team in runs scored, batting average, stolen bases, doubles, and fielding percentage. But hey I guess your right about him not being the MVP of his team since he didn't lead the RBI category as a lead off hitter. But I will agree that Purcell was the District MVP. But in this district (except for one year) they usually give MVP to a player off the Season Champ team. Sycamore's coach was worthy enough of this kid to give him CO MVP. So to everyone, If your just going to sit on here and bash these 15-18 year old KIDS, just stay off this message board. These players play hard every game for their team, their selves, and their coaches. And all you people do is sit on here and bring them down with these negative comments. Of course these kids read these silly posts on here, this might be the only "glory" they get in a lifetime, because most of these kids are done playing after this. So just wise up or stay off..
  21. Sycamore won 8-2 in a rather ugly performance by both teams.
  22. I was at this game once again like I said I would be. You said Sycamore scored 4 UER in the 7th, and thats incorrect. There was 1 UER, and the other 3 were Earned. The first batter reached in the 7th via E-6. Got to second on the horrible throw. Then next batter walked, then a huge sac bunt by some kid. Then lead off hits one to third and scores a run, runner advance. Then a kid gets up and hits one between 3rd and short and scored another run. Then you guys IW a kid, and k out the guy behind him. Then the kid that dominated you guys on the mound at the end of both games this week gets up and stabs you in the heart again with a single scoring two. So that is 3 earned runs. I don't know what game you were watching but that is the shake of it. And don't make it sound like Sycamore scoring "4 unearned runs in the 7th" is an indicator that your the better team. The better team was the one who swept you guys, and thats obvious. You wanna talk about unearned runs? Check this out, You guys scored 3 runs on Monday, 3 were earned(due to the closer for Sycamore walking 5 BATTERS). You scored 4 runs Tuesday and 2 were earned. Sycamore had 4 errors on monday and you guys had 1. Sycamore had 3 errors on Tuesday and you guys had 1. I might mention that 1 of the errors that came on tuesday was with two outs on a routine line drive to the center fielder, had the center fielder took a better route to the ball you guys wouldn't have had a chance. Two runs scored with two outs in the bottom of the 6th with that error. So they gave you guys every opportunity to win both games. They all but handed you first place, and you guys couldn't overcome. With all that Sycamore overcame they have to be the better team, right now. Things could change, there is no way sycamore can continue this poor defensive play. I witnessed both games from the stands and the better team won. Creekwood is an extremely talented team with great coaching. A little classless, but hopefully everyone is passed that. Creekwood will get another shot at Sycamore and they will be ready. Good luck to all...
