  1. I definitely don't think he can teach her anything. She's a good short stop too but they definitley don't need her getting hurt because their pitching would be as weak as water. It's a shame she didn't go to a school where she could have gotten some defensive help and brought her stats up to show that she is really good.
  2. I've seen Kincaid pitch in travel ball and in high school games. She is a good pitcher with a better than most bat but - and it's a big but - the kid can't carry Cookeville on her shoulders much longer. A load like that gets heavy. If I'm not mistaken she is a senior so when they lose her in the circle and her bat, it's going to be ugly no doubt about it! I'm with Uncle Exlax - not going to happen. Riverdale will be there but not sure who their competition will be - only 3 teams that it for sure won't be.
  3. does anyone have a rundown of the teams in the duff?
  4. "Warren County---Cookeville---Well these two teams are both just right above last place and they do not want to lose. Warren County is playing better and Cookieeville has the Duff tournament this weekend. (Where have all of the teams gone from this tournament?) Both teams are weak on pitching this year! But Warren County may have just a little more power with the bats. Loser is Cookieeville!" Mr. Noitall First of all I know you catch heck on here but I for one enjoy your picks and for the most part appreciate your brutal honesty. Most of the time it's what some of are thinking but just not saying! The funny thing about this match up is that being in the same district with these 2 teams we really thought they might show us something this year. Especially Cookeville since last year they just needed some fine tuning and weren't all that bad. But in talking to a parent from there last weekend, they have lost several players since the beginning of the year. From what I understand one was a freshman left handed pitcher that was pretty good when you needed to change the pace of a ballgame and bring it from the other side, another was what should have been their starting varsity pitcher this year as a sophmore. The later of the two pitches for the Crusaders out of Nashville and I'd have to say she is pretty tough. They also lost their all district catcher and an outfielder. Good girls and good parents from what I know of them just a case of too many indians and no chief. From what I understood, all that and some internal problems still brewing might explain their lack luster performances. Best wishes to their coach cause he needs it about now. The Duff? To put on a tournament of that size (35+ teams in 2005) you have to be very organized and everyone involved giving 110%. Enough said.
  5. Didn't do a very good job at getting the fields ready?????????? They never even tried to get the fields ready! A shame to because the facility is really nice and the tournament is honor of one of the best high school softball coaches ever!
  6. Just my two cents but I think what some coaches need to realize is that just because they are good or even great at coaching the game of softball, that doesn't in any way mean they are qualified to be a pitching coach. Pitching is a skill that has to be fine tuned and some high school coaches don't want to admit that they have no idea how to make their pitcher(s) better. They can teach stradegy to a certain extent but more than most have a hard time with actual "pitching" skills. And when you add a little ego to the ignorance, you have a team that suffers even if they have awesome pitching potential on their team because they don't want their players to have outside coaching. And if their players do have outside coaching and play on travel teams to get more games in then those players are frowned upon. That's happened to a few players in District 7AAA this year on a couple of different teams. A pitcher from Cookeville that we see in travel ball is probably the worst case of this situtation ringing true - makes no sense.
  7. I've been to the tournament a few years back and it's held at Cane Creek SportsPlex on Jackson Street. Where are you coming from maybe I can give you better directions? Do you have a contact name?
  8. Haven't heard a thing about it this year. Are they having it again?
  9. Posted this on another thread that was dead so I thought I might get some input here. Question for Mr. Noitall or anyone else for that matter What has happened to Lebanon, Warren Co., and Oakland that they aren't as competitive in their district as they have been in past years? The best I can remember they were all pretty competitive last year. Did they lose alot of seniors last year or what? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> I check the scores every couple of days for the games outside the district I am involved in and those 3 teams seem to be having trouble. It may have already been discussed in another thread but to be honest I don't have time to go back through and look. Thanks for the insight.

  11. and Crusaders9 if I stepped on your toes I apologize!
  12. Let me back up and say I asked casually at the game last night only because I was looking forward to watching the Mt. Juliet/Cookeville game today thinking there would be a "Morris" on the mound for both teams. No one really gave me an answer - just that neither one of the girls actually quit the team. It seemed a little awkward so I didn't ask anymore questions. If what you are saying is true, it maybe some high school coaches don't like skill specific coaches trying to make their players better. Makes no sense but hey I guess it happens. /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" /> Sounds like Cookeville might have some internal issues that Mr. Noitall couldn't see in his crystal ball. But he was right in saying that Mt. Juliet would come out on top in the match up tonight! So does Mr. Noitall have a prediction for the championship game?
  13. What???? Not the story I got. What about their pitcher?
  14. I think Mr. Noitall was correct in saying that a slew of things have to fall into place. One has to think that a school that size has some students (boys and girls) with athletic ability especially since the Cavalier Baseball team is so competitive. Whether or not that ability is honed in on I have no idea. Through the circle of softball parents in the district I heard they didn't lose any seniors last year but they did lose their all district catcher and one of the best young pitchers I've ever seen in the circle. Watching them last night at the Worth Tournament against Dickson County those 2 girls were indeed not with the team and you could tell it on defense and offense. I don't know much about their current coach other than he had some big shoes to fill. Can he do it? Only time will tell.
  15. Maybe they need to hire him back to consult because it seems like nothings been the same with that program since he retired.
  16. Mt. Juliet no doubt. Cookeville had a head coach (Duff I think his name was) for years that had a physical disability but was one heck of a coach. Ran a tight ship and had a really good team until he retired now it seems like they struggle year after year. Don't seem to be able to keep pace with the rest of the district. Anyway - Mt. Juliet on top.
