  1. I agree the taunting had no impact on the outcome of the game. I would have just like the students and others in the stand to cheer for our team and not focus on Samber. He did a lot of good while he was at Upperman and deserves at least a little respect.
  2. The Bees definitely had it figured out last night and really played hard. They were the better team no question about it last night. The one thing I do question is what the crowd's reasoning is behind taunting Coach Samber every chance they get. I understand he left here and went home to York and the timing wasn't the best but if they only knew how ignorant they sound to the fans on the other side of the field. Heck they sound ignorant and I'm on their side of the field. Just seems classless.
  3. Any first hand updates from the Livingston scrimmage?
  4. My point exactly. There might be talented kids that go to school there but because of politics and "daddyball" that program will never be competitive.
  5. Maynord in Cookeville will ride the Angel kid as far as it will take him. Get his picture in the paper when he signs and will look good for a while. His dad and uncle are both on the coaching staff so who do you think is really calling the shots? Maynord knows he has to come up with some good publicity after the disaster he guided the team to last year. UpperCumberlandMan it isn't that they lack talent as much as it is the political mess they can't seem to get behind them and it is only getting worse.
  6. Got to give it to the Smokey Bears! Good job! I'd like to also acknowledge the Cavaliers and how well they played. Great high school football game!
  7. Interesting facts there on the Warriors. I'll take Cookeville by 2TDs at least.
  8. Cookeville might get beat but I wouldn't bet against them. They shut Lebanon completely down last Friday night. Cavs have 2 Varisty QBs and that is working well for them. Defense working well too.
  9. Classy post! I was beginning to think that all owl fans had become Maynord haters in the last few months!
  10. I was neutral in the discussion until this post just curious of the outcome but this statement is idiotic!Did he all of a sudden become Satan when he took the job in Cookeville?I don't know the man personally but he was a football saint in Smith Co until earlier this year and now he is hated?
  11. And everyone is entitled to there own. I will always buzz for the Bees but Maynord will make Cookeville hard to handle in the next few years. Maybe not this year but they were smart with the hire.
  12. I guess anything is possible but the Cookeville team UHS played in the fall was not the same team they played in the first scrimmage they had. UHS didn't fair as well once Maynord had the CAVS in pads for a few weeks. Would it be a bragging right and good for the OWLS' pride to beat Maynord? Certainly would! But very unlikely. You know Joslin leaving Cookeville started the ball rolling and those folks still sing his praises to anyone that will listen. From what parents up there say no one had a clue he was being courted by another school. To hear some of the SC peeps you would think Maynord was the devil himself.
  13. As a coach I'm sure he does everything he can to beat every team he plays against no matter who the opponent is because that is why teams have coaches. Seems like there is a lot of hostility towards Maynord coming from some people in SC.
  14. Goldeagle you are exactly right! Did not mean to that Cookeville needs to take his ability lightly.
  15. I think Maynord heads east with a W. Manning is awesome but Maynord coached him long enough to know where his strengths are. Cookeville is going through some coaching pains because Maynord and Joslin have coaching styles that are like daylight and dark.
  16. How did this thread go from Cookeville vs. Smith Co to Team National? That might be the problem with the Owls. Distracted too easily! Get back on topic!
  17. Is there a TSSAA rule stating whether or not a high school senior can play JV? Players in question have played since they were in the 9th grade but only saw the field on rare occasions. Do they HAVE to play varsity or not even been on either roster?
  18. Just wondering if anyone has heard if Cookeville has started the interviewing process yet and if so, who has applied for their head coaching position.
  19. Chill out. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  20. Let me clarify what I meant. Not being negative towards anyone player. Just stating the truth. You are only as good as your competition forces you to be. Playing in a tough district is humbling at times even for the best players. Playing in a softer district it's easier for one player to STAND out and look like they are heads above the others. To be a stand out pitcher in the same district as Riverdale/Oakland/siegel/Blackman is alot tougher than being a stand out pitcher with Monterey/Jackson Co./RBS. I'm exactly sure how old she is but she would have only had 1 coach change in her high school career if she had gone to Cookeville. And from what we saw in Cookeville the coach they have there now seems to be a no nonsense type of coach and seems to be playing to win and not to make parents happy. The parents and players there need to be thankful for that change. And on top of that Cookeville has a pitcher that is a junior I think (blonde hair) that is not only really strong on the mound, can play anywhere in the field, and can hit the ball. Even more competition?
  21. If Miss Adkins wanted competition instead of trying to be the center of attention in everything she does she would have transfered to Cookeville when she left Baxter to go to Monterey before she left Monterey to go to Jackson Co. Anyone see a pattern here? All of the first three schools are in that general area and not too far apart. Cookeville is in a really tough district with the Boro teams and the water would have been deeper. Not what they were looking for obviously.
  22. Yeah I guess the new coach is busy trying to put that program back together after the last 5 or 6 years. He has his hands full but from what I understand is not playing the "happy parents" ball that took that program to its knees. Good for him! The Duff was one of the most attended tournaments in TN high school softball at one time. Our team was going to play in a middle school tournament in Cookeville last year. They went from telling us they had 12 teams possibly 14 in a middle school tourney to sending our money back without much of an explanation at the last minute. It's a shame because Coach Duff was someone to be honored in TN Softball. Can't remember right now the exact Win/Loss but his record was awesome!
  23. Monterey has some girls on their team that will make them competetive in their district. Taylor Adkins didn't win games in Monterey by herself. She had girls behind her to play good defense. Glad to give credit where credit is due but put Adkins in a district with some tougher teams and it would be a different story all together. Moving from Upperman to Monterey and now on to Jackson Co. - notice the pattern...
