  1. Station Camp 2, Mount Juliet 0

Thanks I was wondering how long it would take to get that answer!

Beech plays Wilson Central at 8pm (Field of Dreams - Hendersonville) 5/10/11

District Final will be at 7pm on Thursday, May 12 at the Field of Dreams

  2. I have not seen Maryville or Farragut play this year but I have seen Bearden and Catholic. I know Bearden is the hands on favorite and they have really played great all year. I can't see them letting off the gas especially against Farragut. That being said Farragut has improved and will be up for the challenge.

As much as I might like Catholic to do well in the contest I don't think they have improved enough to handle a really talented Maryville side. I believe Maryville would have to stumble in a big way to lose to Catholic this time around. It is really nice to see Catholic playing well at crunch time though.

    Top 7s

    Tennessee: 1. Bearden (8-0-2), 2. Brentwood (7-0-2), 3. Hardin Valley (5-0-3), 4. Knoxville West (4-1-1), 5. Hendersonville (8-1-1), 6. Riverdale (6-0-1), 7. McCallie (5-1-2).

  8. Hendersonville also missed a PK in their 2-0 loss to Bearden. An impressive showing of the BHS defense, perhaps there is a new no. 1 in the state?

With the loss by Maryville over the weekend I would think there would be a good chance of that happening.

I did not hear the Father Ryan vs St. George's score but was able to watch Dobyns Bennett vs Gallatin and Bearden vs Hendersonville.

Dobyns Bennett won 3-2 over Gallatin. It looked like a pretty evenly matched event with Gallatin pulling to within 1 score late in the game.

Bearden threw down the gauntlet with some very stiff play against Hville. Although Hville had more scoring opportunities and posessed the ball a little better this was a game of capitalizing on mistakes. Bearden did and Hendersonville didn't. Bearden wins 2-0.

  13. I believe these games are on tap for today. Everybody join in on game commentary and lets see where this thread takes us this year. (keep it clean)

    Hardin Valley vs Houston

    Bearden vs Germantown

    Farragut vs Collierville

    Knox Catholic vs Notre Dame

    Maryville vs Gallatin

    Siegel vs CAK

    Hendersonville vs Oak Ridge

  14. Good game. Fire scored first with a goal from Jackson Boonstra. Ravenwood scored at beginning of 2nd half. Then Matt Dyer scored one of the best free kicks you have ever seen in your life. Then Tyler Jackson had a run out to make it 3-1 but refs blew an offsides call. Then Ravenwood scored with about.. 3-5 minutes left. It was a very good game.

That sounds like a spetacular effort from MTHF as I know Ravenwood has a good side. Please keep us informed about MTHF this season as we don't get a lot of the normal resources and feedback for their games.

  15. It wouldn't be the Bearden Tournament if there was no rain or sloppy field conditions. The soccer gods must feel the need for making it feel like England for this tournament every year.

Gypsy, I would also like to thank you for this write up. Additionally if you notice any particularly great performances by individuals or teams I would love some names or numbers, positions, and playing style. My son has graduated but I still love to watch and hear about the kids around the state.

    Thanks!

  16. Hendersonville has a nice draw--CAK, Oak Ridge, Catholic. Would have been interesting to see them matched up with Bearden, Farragut and Maryville.

This is the first time in my recent memory that H'ville has not been scheduled to play Bearden or Farragut. That being said if anyone thinks CAK, Knox Catholic, and Oak Ridge are a cakewalk should probably think again. I know H'ville was not slated to play Bearden because they will meet them in the Hendersonville Classic.

  17. Although the weather was cold and dry, the action on the field was hot and wet. Sloppy conditions made for some interesting soccer. The first game with Oak Ridge and Gallatin showed trouble with the field as most of the small ball movement thru the middle part of the field was stopped more by puddles than defensive pressure. Passes were hard to connect and possession seemed more dangerous than just putting it in the other teams attacking third. Credit to both teams for trying to play small. I missed the first goal, but Oak Ridge scored off a nice cross and a pretty thru ball to go up 3-0. Gallatin showed a little more pressure towards the end of the game.

The second game was fun to watch. Although small in size, CAK showed up big against Hendersonville. Hendersonville had the upper hand for most of the game, but gave up two goals on pretty free kicks at the end. The game finished 3-2 in favor of Hendersonville. I do not know how they normally play, but it was obvious that Hendersonville was putting the ball up top a lot. They didn't play around with it in the middle and were constantly attacking the goal. CAK tried to move the ball around a little more, but could not threaten the goal nearly as much. It really was a David and Goliath picture. Some of the boys from CAK were lucky to reach the elbows of the Hendersonville players. Both teams have talent, but size and speed were a factor. Hendersonville's two players up top were fun to watch and they have a strong back line. The two free kicks were gorgeous for CAK, but the third goal for Hendersonville was spectacular. A long cross just over the midfield stripe, finished with a nice header. The big guy up top for Hendersonville will have some goals this year.

It wouldn't be the Bearden Tournament if there was no rain or sloppy field conditions. The soccer gods must feel the need for making it feel like England for this tournament every year.
