Agreed. And I think Chris was every bit as good as Issac and would have done likewise.
I know Issac is at Buffalo, is Chris playing college ball?

What do you think about Kevin Dyson joining the coaching staff? I hear he will also be a teacher at IHS. This will make him available to the team full-time. He may offer some wrinkles to the offense.

Independence was there and went 5-3, should have been 7-1. Best team I saw was Clarkrange. Saw some very athletic teams that could not shoot. Saw some coaches with a little too much of Bobby Knight in them. Very enertaining camp.

My son went to the camp, when he was a freshman in High school. I was able to spend 2 days at the camp myself. The guy that started the camp Dave Devenzio (sp) passed away the next year. I think his brother runs it now. Here are some facts
It is a coed camp. (thought it hurt the camp for the guys)
I had 5 other kids that i took besides my son. All said the classroom stuff was the best.
Other than that from what I saw they chose teams after the camp counselors chose the team captains.
They played each other every day.
The high school 3's and 4's dominated the camp.
The guy wrote a book called "stuff". One of the best books I have ever read on basketball, once you get by all of his made up initials and phrases for everything. It was simple to read, yet if you thought about what you were reading and then thought about it from the opposite point of view, it could really make you think.
Personally i think you could take a chapter a day out of the book. Read it. Have the players read it. Then discuss it and then go thru those situations on the floor in a practice and instructional time. I think it would be just like going thru the camp only more personalized.
Thanks for the reply. I am currently reading "Stuff". Interesting book. I like the way the author teaches the game. This is what has drawn my interest about the camp. I would expect scrimmaging, but I was hoping for more drill oriented work related to the classroom work.

I have heard Point Guard College is a great basketball camp, but all the info is second-hand. The website is great and offers great testimonials. Does anyone in the CoachT Nation have first-hand knowledge?

Principle announced Mt. Juliet assistant and former LaVergne coach Jeremy Moore.
I hope he knows what a jerk of a Principle he is getting ready to work for.
I'm happy for the boys this did not drag out into the Summer. What's done is done. Time to support Coach Moore and the team. Because Coach Moore is Dr. Campbell's choice, he will be in a good position to succeed.

It has been about a month. Any news on a coach at IHS?

What AAU clubs? While not knowing your coach, all of this dies not surprise me.
Pride, Dragons, Fury, Glory. At least one other but do not know the name.
-
My 15U daughter needs to find an AAU team. She has played with Team Pride and Tennessee Elite in the past, but because of mom's lack of information, tried out for the 14U Pride team this year. Last year she would have been eligible for the younger team, but since the age/grade change does not.
If anyone has openings in the Wilson Co. or surrounding area, please contact me at 615-478-2794. Thanks.
What position does she play?
-
coloma( a name i remember vividly) hope you are doing fine and remember your delima. Kept up with your season and was surprised. Team is moving on and I watched twice. Good Luck.
Hey PH. Sorry we did not get the chance to meet. With our coach in place the girls are working and having fun. Camp schedule is done and the team is looking for improvement on last year. Most of the girls are on AAU squads, showing their commitment to get better. If you take in AAU games we may have a chance to meet this Spring. Keep that ball bouncin.

they're everywhere.... Good Luck. Many young girls are needing coaches right now...hope you find what you are looking for. /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />

Noticed the job posting is no longer on the TSSAA bulletin board.

Now a couple of things I have to get off my chest. First of all, Riverdale has some of the most classless fans I have seen. Yelling things at our coaches and players is very unclassy. I realize this is not all Riverdale fans and only a very few but these few fans bring how you look as a school down. Also, I thought your coach showed her true colors as she definitely tried to run the score up. She was leading by 40 yet refused to pull her starters until there was less than 2 minutes to go in the game and continued to press pretty much to the end of the game. I can see where someone as classless as she appeared to be could definitely do some shady things to get where she is now.
Be serious. If the situation was reversed wouldn't you want to spank the team that took your school down? I know any competitive team would want revenge. If you poke the bear there will be consequences. Congratulations to both teams. Blackman girls need to get their heads up. They still have a chance to advance to Regionals. This was just one game, learn and move on.

I believe I called this back on Jan. 17 in that there would be a 3 way tie for first place. /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" /> While the season is not over it looks as though my prediction was right on the money!!!
If they finish in a 3-way tie who wins the crown?

I continue to have a problem with the foul call on a defender when they have both feet planted and arms extended straight up and the shooter jumps into the defender. Around here it is always a blocking foul and not a charge.
I agree, post players are penalized for playing defense correctly, feet planted and arms straight up. Most refs make bad calls because they are out of position, or have bad angles. I saw a game last week where whistles were prolific. Bad calls both ways, and most of those calls were made by the official out of position, when the official in clear view was allowing the play to continue. I know the officials are trying their best, but some crews simply don't get it. I would be curious to see a supervisor's evaluation of the game I saw last week.

Independence frosh 6'7" David Howard and his bro 6'3" Trey (JR) transferred to MBA today. Does anyone know how the TSSAA will rule on them playing this year? I believe the whole family moved to Nashville from Franklin. With Mobley, Blackwell, Watts and the Howards next year.... They'll be really big and score a bunch.
There is an obvious typo in the first sentence of this post. "Transferred" should be changed to "was recruited".

Does anyone know what time Hillwood plays Nashville Christian on Saturday. I have not been able to watch them play since I graduated from there in 1998. If someone could help me out. That would be great!!! Thanks!
1pm @ Hillwood

Interesting topic. One thing that has not been discussed is team chemistry. Upperclassmen can take offense to having teammates lose playing time to freshmen. Upperclassmen may take some serious ribbing from their peers not on the team. This is a delicate balance a coach must manage. The coaches are still dealing with teenagers, who emotions can change in a heartbeat. Coaches need to understand the maturity of their upperclassmen, and the upperclassmen's abiltiy to accept the freshmen. In the end talent should win out, and the upperclassmen know the score having endured hours of practice that only the coaches and players see. It is the upperclassmen's responsibility to lead, not feel deserving of play time because of seniority.

I WASN'T IMPLYING THAT THEY ONLY PLAYED THE FIVE STARTERS. THEY OCCASINALLY PLAY TWO OTHER GIRLS IN OTHER GAMES. THAT LEAVES THREE GIRLS THAT NEVER SEE ANY REAL PLAYING TIME. IN THE PAGE GAME LORETTO ONLY HAD 1 POINT FROM A SUB, THAT PLAINLY SHOWS THAT THE STARTERS WERE STILL PLAYING IN THE 4TH QUARTER. THE ONLY EXPLAINATION I SEE IS TO PAD THE SCORING STATS OF SOME OF THE STARTERS AND A TOTAL DISREGARD FOR THE FUTURE OF THE PROGRAM.
No offense, but it plainly shows the non-starters have trouble putting the ball in the basket.

20, this is a little bit off schedule but have been following your School and while you are little off schedule, my thoughts are your team is doing better than anyone thought. Yes, W-L is not as good but improvement is steady. best of luck the rest of the year.
Thanks PH, they are getting there.
-
I agree totally! The subs on the Lady Mustangs will not continue to get better if they don't have game experience. That is part of the process of paying dues as underclassmen, you don't get to play very much but you expect to play when you team is in a blow out. Good point 4 mustangs.
Loretto rotated 7 players, so it is a little of a stretch to say only 5 starters played. I agree, some of the other bench players could have been rotated in earlier considering the score.

Does anyone have a list of teams and schedule for this tournament?
-
20, I am impressed. I don't know if you were asking for regular season or a Tournament you are having. I have been trying to get schools to provide programs with names of players and nembers for some time. As you guessed, haven't gotten very far no matter the sport. Hope whoever gave you the list will post the on Lawrence county Coach T. have followed you so far and Indy, hang in there.
Youth is the word when describing the Lady Eagles. Good news is they can play much better. We have also been playing without 2 upperclassmen due to injury. A tip for those out there that would like to make a program. All rosters are available on the Tennessean website in the high school section of the sports page. Figured that one out last night! Word Publisher has an easy application with template to make a program. Thanks for the encouraging words PH. Give us 10 games, then come see us play. I'll buy the popcorn.

Tennessean ran an article this morning stating Darryl Hammond, former Nashville Kat, has joined the football staff. If memory serves, Hammond won the Iron Man Award during his playing days. Lots of new blood on the coaching staff should energize the program.
