    Thanks!

  2. Lipscomb varsity beat Lebanon by 5, beat RBS by 6, I think, and beat host MTCS by 1 in sudden death OT. Lipscomb's JV beat Grundy Co. and Independence (both presumably JVs) by double digits. The 2 officials in the Lipscomb/MTCS game were the 2 worst high school officials I have ever seen, and that' saying a lot. Totally out of sync. Multiple opposite calls and then they would just stare at each other. Both changed calls both ways based upon coaches and fans wishes. It was really unbelieveable. I know it's just a playday, but the girls on both teams deserved better. Much better.

One comment about the RBS coach - I'm sure he must be a good coach, I've heard about RBS for years. BUT, I would not want my daughter playing for him. She's played for some loud, gruff, grizzly-bear-type coaches over the years, but never one that publicly degraded his players the way that guy did. One parent leaned over to me during the game and said "that borders on abuse." It was a shame. Made you wonder if he was trying to teach the girls or if he was trying to prove to everyone in the gym how big and bad he was. That would not be a pleasant experience. /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

MTCS did a great job with the play day and were very gracious hosts. Thanks! /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

I agree the referrering in the games I saw in the old gym was awful. Officials did not have control of the games, and it is fortunate someone did not get hurt. Players from our team had welts and bruises after the game, though fouls only were called after things really got out of hand. AAU can be pretty rough, but this was street ball.

  3. I saw Red Boiling Springs beat USN by 20+, Lebanon beat Grundy by 10 and Lipscomb beat Lebanon by 5. Anyone have other varsity results?

RBS lost to Lipscomb, but beat Grundy. This was my first time seeing the RBS ladies play. They are small, but play extremely hard. Good fundamentals around the basket makes up for their lack of size. Their point guard (Lacy) was the best player I saw in any game that day. There should be concerns of wearing her out. I saw them play 2 games, and she never came off the floor. Listening to their coach do his thing is worth the price of admission. Those ladies have some thick skin.

  4. Bump

I was lucky to be present for the IHS v Brentwood district championship. Match of the year, and Indy then went on to sweep the regionals and sub-state.

The Lady Eagles are on a roll. The team is deep, especially across the front line, and the Perilli's can either set, dig or kill. The back side defense is anchored by Jacszc (sp) #5, the anchor of the team.

  5. Agreed, I don't mean to be critical of the Independence fan base, but the talk on this thread sounds like Vanderbilt fans with the moral victory they achieved by playing a good game and not getting blown out! BA owned the line of scrimmage, but you would have thought BA pulled an upset with the way the fans have described this game. BA ran it down Indy's throat for over 300 yards! They scored 34 points! Indy's points came on long pass plays without any sustained drives.

Independence is very good, and played a great game. But it just sounds like BA is getting no credit for an otherwise very solid start over a quality opponent.

BA did own the line of scrimmage with their offensive line. BA's D-line was not effective rushing the passer, and let's face it, if you were there it was obvious that was the IHS game plan, put it in the air.

BA's D-line should be given credit for the taking the run game away from IHS. BA's kicking game was the big difference in the game. The outstanding player for BA on Friday night was their punter. He is truly a weapon.

  6. Coach Eubanks did all he could. He ran the spread and the QB got rid of the ball efficiently. Attempts to rush the ball early in the game were very ineffective, so he did not bang his head into the wall and waste downs.

BA started an extremely untested sophomore QB and throwing the ball was not a good option (#1 QB injured and #2 QB moved back to Seattle after failing to win #1 job). Coach Eubanks identified this right away and stacked the box with lots of stunts and run blitzes to slow down the BA running attack.

BA's lack of turnovers and strong punting and kicking performance was a major factor, as well.

BA's punter was terrific. He kicks like that all year, he'll be playing on Saturday some day.

  7. Last nights game was a big test for IHS, and you would have to give them a passing grade.

The O-line was outstanding against a very athletic D-line from BA. For the most part BA rushed only 4, but when they did blitz Indy picked them up. Allowing no sacks when the defense knew you were passing was impressive.

The outcome could have easily gone the other way. Indy left some plays out there with a couple drops, and missed

connections. Indy first play from scrimmage had touchdown written all over it. Receiver had beaten defense by at least 3 yards, but ball was a little too long. The other missed oppurtunity came at the end of the first half. BA tried a pass to the right corner of the end zone, but the ball was thrown short. The Indy db had an easy pick with nothing but green in front of him, but failed to make the catch. BA kicked a field goal on the next play to end the half. Half time score was 17-7, but could have easily been 14-14.

Indy's d-line play must improve. Tackling was also an issue in the game for IHS. BA running backs ran through way too many tackles. Coach Eubanks being a defensive coach could not have been happy.

Indy will win their share of games this year. BA showed they can win a tough game, but are vulnerable to a deep passing game. Though they did have 4 INTs, 2 should have been caught, and one was in desperation time with only a minute left in the game. Indy will need a running game.

  8. If that game last year had been finished the same night (rain) the score would have been even more lopsided.

I agree. I attended this game and Indy was completely over matched, especially on the line. This is the one game Crockett was the qb and he was awful. Held the ball too long, even though he was not getting much protection. BA's big back shredded the Indy defense.

  9. Everyone makes this sound as if this is hopeless and it is anything but. Indy had a good team last year. they lost the seniors and two transfers but a number of players had to practice with and play against each other in practice and don't you believe they were not extended under the previous coach. If they weren't they would not have been on the team. So, yes they may be young but they have prospects and the way things have wound up, which is an embarassment, they just need to have a tryout BUT this coach understands it and she understood it before she applied and she has no surprises here and she has a plan and at this point so do the players and that is to prove everyone wrong.

Amen to that! Indy will play hard, and by mid-season, teams will not want to play them.

  10. i am hoping for the best for IHS but the outlook this year is not very bright. with only one player with some experience(seems like maxwell did not go very deep with her bench or she lost a ton of players) it could be a rocky year. good luck ladies!

4 starters graduated, and the other transferred. First two girls off the bench from last year are gone too. Uphill battle is in store, but youth can surprise you.

  11. You are right theses are just high school players. That's why this is a high school message board, not a college or pro message board. But I don't know about all that you have stated above. I think if they had started Zack, Emory, or Nick in 06 there record would have been the same. But that's just my opinion along with many others.

My bandwagon remark was pointed at no one in particular just people who seemed to be head over heels over the suspended QB at Indy in 06, and then upon his return to graceland led the Eagles to a defeat at the hands of state runner-up Ravenwood. I was fortunate enough to be at that game and I noticed many people's attitudes changed during that game. But I already knew that you knew what I was referring to.

We could (and probably will) debacle on who should be the starting QB at Indy, but I will attempt to lay it to rest and leave it at that.

    HAHAHA.....

  12. Forgive me for being so slow to get back with you. With my old age and all.....nevermind.

I will say this if you don't give Nick the benefit of the doubt and atleast say he has better throwing mechanics I lose alot of respect for your "football knowledge" on here.

And I have said it from the beginning, the region was down last year thus accounting for teams such as NE, Ravenwood, and Columbia. Also Gallatin and Antioch weren't looking to sharp either.

Okay, Nick's throwing mechanics are awesome, and he always looks good warming up Heckman.

  13. I need to call again myself. According to the handbook the August 19th date isn't in there. According to the paperwork that I have it's on it. We don't start until November anyway but I don't want to misinform anyone else on when they can start.

Thanks for the link to the handbook. It looks like the date is August 25th. Here is a copy of the rules.

I do have it in writing but I don't remember where to find it online, sorry. /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" /> /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

Thanks Coach, I'll give TSSAA a call on Monday for the final word. Good luck this year!

  15. October 27th is the actual first day to practice this year. Conditioning and open gym can start on August 19. We are getting air conditioning installed in our gym so it's not usable till later on this year. We don't usually start conditioning until September anyway.

I hesitated to reply because this topic can be misinterpreted as someone boasting about being a top program. I don't need the critics all over me for something as harmless as a mere reply.

Hi Coach. I was looking on the TSSAA site and could not find any info on the Aug. 19th date for the beginning of conditioning and open gyms. Am I just missing it, or is this info only available to the coaching community? Any help would be appreciated.

  16. 20, get busy looking in to that fall league.

Trouble with the fall league is rules limiting how many players can play with the high school coach. Indy will be counting on some freshmen players stepping up. Because of the timing of the coaching change, Coach Reed has only been able to work with the team on conditioning. She will not get to see them touch a ball until September. I think TSSAA rules allow open gyms beginning sometime in Sept. Could use some help on clarification of the open gym rule.
