  1. Finally, the end of a pathetic season draws near for both teams, more so for Indy.

To top it all off, this is the Thursday Night Lights game on channel 30. Sorry Upn, but your ratings will crash, since most viewers will flip over to watch "It's the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown".

I can harldy wait till next season. Actually, YES I CAN!

  2. The Rebels took care of business while Independence flopped yet again. I waited until this morning to share my thoughts because if I had done so last night after I got home, I am sure CoachT would have locked me out for good.

The Indy program has dropped off the face of the earth in all aspects. Other than a kicker, they are cooked. Indy has one of the best kickers around, and the offense cant even get close enough to give him a shot. The defense plays well at times, but then has no faith in their offense so they finally give up.

It appears reality has set in for all of Indy, even Dyson. He looks like a whipped puppy, and he can thank his boss for all the spankings. Way too many on this board blame Dyson for the Indy downfall. Dyson is only part of the problem. WHO HIRED HIM? And dont say that he hired himself, the principals do all the hiring and firing.

Unfortunately, things will only get worse before they get better. The new high school will open and the issues at Indy will only snowball. Indy has seen its better days. Sad but true.

  3. Ha obviously only read part of what i said. I said that this year could set the tone and i did hear about the DC scrimmage kinda hard to switch from a triple option offense back to a I-Form. Eubanks screwed them over. Plus i heard it was the second team who got the whooping. I did say it would take a while during the season to get in the swing of things. I ment the offensive style not the actual talent dum dum. IM NOT THAT STUPID lol. No way are these batch of wide outs and backs even close to the ones in 07. I just ment instead of seeing an all pass offense like in 08 or an all run in 09. You'll see a balance of the plays beening called. I dont even think Indy will make the playoffs. But good coaching goes a long way.

"IM NOT THAT STUPID" You so sure about that?

The tone that I have seen so far is very alarming to me, as well as others that have been out to see the scrimmages so far. I know they are only scrimmages, but I tell it like I see it. It is quite obvious that Dyson is not ready for this, which we all worried about when he was named the head coach. You are right, it will take a while to get into the swing of things, the problem is ihs does not have a while. As I mentioned, this "good" coaching you speak of, the schedule and new school will take its toll on ihs football.

Your stupidity shows when you say things like "I dont even think Indy will make the playoffs. But good coaching goes a long way." You get on here and speak so highly of the talent, the balance of play calling we will see this year, and good coaching, but you do not think they will make the playoffs? Your ignorance shows when you are already blaming the former coach for all the problems that ihs football is facing now and will face down the road. For ihs football sake, they need support, not excuses. Who is the dum dum?

As I look at the ihs schedule, I am not sure that ihs will win a game until Hillsboro. I hope I am wrong, but from what I see and hear, the wheels are losing lugnuts fast, and I am not so sure I have not seen a wheel on the side of Hwy 31 already.

I plan to attend the Siegel game to form a better opinion.

    Good luck to the eagles!

  4. Hope for Indy's sake thats true. Coaching has been a huge problem there ever since Eubanks was head coach. Even though in his first year they went to state but no one could of screwed up that team with that kinda talent they had. They could of been a lot better than 11-5, but it deff went downhill from that year. With NFL exprience at the helm and a former DC back, Coach Bobby, who all the players love for his intensity. And yet again the offense will be different but will look a lot like the 07 team's offensive style, a lot of depth at the WR and RB posistions. Starting out with 50%of pass and 50%of run. But the question will be a run first and open up the passing lanes or vice versa. Plus with 4 offensive linemen returning it should work out. This year's success could set the tone for the program's next couple of years.

Yes im an Indy alum but i still think that Indy has a lot of talent but in the beginning of the year Dyson and the players should get in the swing of things and should get hot late in the season. BTW tough schedule all opponents in top 50 of 300 schools in TN. 4 out of them being in the top ten.

For the first two playoff spots Franklin and Brentwood of course. And i actually think Centennial could have a sleeper year. Those young guys remember all the beat downs they took last year and if their coach could light a fire underneath them they could do great things. But its a big IF

    1.Brentwood

    2.Franklin

    3.Independence

    4.Ravenwood

    5.Centennial

    6.Hillsboro

Mack, have you been out to see any of the ihs scrimmages thus far? I was able to get out for the BGA and again last night vs Lincoln County, from what I can tell, ihs has a lot of work to do and that is putting it mildly. I did not make it to the Dickson County scrimmage last week, but reports I got were that ihs struggled bigtime and really looked bad. The offense looks nothing like the 07 offense...which leads me to believe you have not been out to see them or maybe you have no idea what you are talking about. This offense looks to be in disarray. And this depth you speak of, where is it, maybe they should use it more. It is quite obvious that the loss of Heckman to graduation will hurt. The kids at the QB spot right now need a lot of work. The defense needs to learn how to tackle plain and simple. So as far as ihs goes, I believe the eagles may be in for a long season. Unfortunately, I think this year will be the year that sends ihs on a downward spiral. Besides coaching, the schedule and new school that will rob ihs of players after this year will do them in.

As far as projections for the district:

    1. Brentwood - Some key players back and very well coached program.

    2. Franklin - Lost some really good players and coaches, not real sure they will finish this high.

    3. Ravenwood - 3 thru 6 is really anyones for the taking.

    4. Centennial - I do agree with you that this team is the sleeper in the area.

    5. Independence - See above

    6. Hillsboro - Out of their league.

  5. I am thinking something more along these lines:

1-2: Brentwood & Franklin will battle for district title, what else is new?

I would lean towards Brentwood though with Franklin DC gone to BGA.

3-6: Drop Ravenwood, Centennial, Indy and Hillsboro in a hat and draw them out.

I think that these teams will beat up on one another and MAYBE sneak up on Brentwood or Franklin along the way.

Anyone know when the teams begin spring practices?

  6. Gambler, I do not recall 3 plays, but do recall 1 for sure and that was against Brentwood. I was not able to attend all the games, so there may have been more than that, but I know for sure there was 1 there.

I spoke to a parent who has a son on the team last night and he was saying that Dyson has several new guys on staff already. Law, an assistant from Spring Hill who he says has a son on the team at Indy and a former assistant coach that was at Indy before, I think he said Cisslack. I also gathered that Dyson did not hire Law, the principal did.

The more I find out about this situation and what is going on there at Indy, this is a classic case of who you are and who you know rather than what you have done.

  7. mose is a done deal at whites creek even though he never applied. One year as an assistant, called nothing. 3 years at hillwood with 4 total wins. He does have more than enough experience to coach the best group of athletes in metro.

Bubba spears is the guy at hillwood.

thow in the fact that kevin dyson as athletic director just hired himself as head coach with no head coaching experience and very few years as an assistant makes even more sense from an administrator standpoint...talk about a music city miracle....every friday night will be one and i am talking about warmups

IN the land of the blind the one eyed man truly is king

everyone here wins and the status quo goes on...bubba makes sense, he is a hardworker and a good guy....the other two...wow

    :thumb:

skin, i just left the indy thread to see how my friends in metro were doing and came across this. Is there something in the hiring water that these school principals are drinking on?

Dyson is named head guy at indy with hardly any coaching background. What more is there to say about that one?

Wasn't Philips at Centennial High Scool a few years back, before going to metro? Philips has done nothing ever since he has been coaching in the mid-state, but at least he has some "experience".

These programs will soon hit bottom with a ferocious thump, which is very unfortunate for the players in these programs. :thumb:

  8. It appears the answer to the thread question is finally answered. Just got word that Kevin Dyson let the players know today that he would be their new coach. It appears to me that he should have made that clear last year when Campbell brought him to Indy. What took so long?

I guess Eubanks saw exactly what was going on and made a smart decision. I applaud Coach Eubanks for walking away. Way too classy for the doings going on at Indy.

Isn't Dyson the athletic director as well?

Am I correct in saying that Dyson has very little high school coaching experience. I know he did some time at Glencliff before coming to Indy. No offense to Dyson, I do not know him, but does that qualify him for a head position anywhere?

There was also a lot of talk in this thread about several guys turning down the job. I know for a fact that Donnie Webb from Franklin turned it down, so where did Dyson stand in all of this? Last resort?

What does the indy nation really think about what is going on there :thumb:

first for the kids at INDY i hope its a good move.......... but really is it ?

Is Dyson ready to coach in one of the toughest conferences in the state ?

here is a guy that seems to be using his music city miracle to get the jobs, - Look for all i know or dont know the guy could be the czar of all A.D. 's and the the next Don flippin Shula -

But he is named the AD without putting in any dues at all, and then gets a good lil gig as the head coach over at INDY when all he has done is for a few years work as a non paid coach for i do believe Frankin then FRA then a wide receiver coach for Glencliff before arguing with head coach Scott Murray and getting the boot...

anyways its been fun and im sure it will get better come august......

That is it? You are telling me beyond a wr coach at Glencliff the guy was a volunteer coach at Franklin and FRA? Dyson was one yard short, is the principal at Indy one mile beyond the kookoo's nest? :thumb:

  9. Here is my crazy idea out of right field and probably is totally wrong. What if the new Indy coach is Craig Clayton?

I mean Indy has more talent coming up than Franklin. Clayton has strong ties to the Indy adminstration, and the Franklin administration doesn't support its coaches. Someone said a second coach resigned, maybe it is him. The Rebels football banquet is tonight so maybe he will announce it there or tomorrow morning. Just food for thought.

If Scharsch gets the job, it will set back the program.

IndyEagle09 may be on to something here. It is common knowledge that Campbell and Clayton do have strong ties.

And who is Scharsch and what are his credentials? All I found online was a stint at Eagleville and now Spring Hill. Those two stops qualify him for the Indy job? There is something wrong with this picture for sure.

Good Luck Indy, it appears you are going to need it, in more ways than one.

  10. Sources very close to the program, player and parent that i know well, confirmed that coach eubanks did step down.

I am really curious about this decision. Eubanks has been the head coach there for three years now right? My parent friend also reminded me that he has been there since the school opened. The program has done fairly well, and correct me if i am wrong, eubanks went to playoffs two of three seasons as head coach, with one being the state final run. This decision seems strange to me. Why step down when you have done a pretty decent job there? I have only heard great things about the guy, so really curious as to what is going on there at indy.

  11. INDY DID NOT WIN ONE GAME AGAINST A 6-A DISTRICT OPPONENT !

    AGAINST THEIR THREE MAJOR RIVALS ( BHS, FHS, RHS ) THEY WERE 0 - 3 ! !

INDY SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN REWARDED WITH THIS WILDCARD SELECTION ! ! !

In terms of talent IHS has skill players like Heckman and Standard complimented by lineman such as Farrell and Kelly. To be certain IHS has plenty of talent. The problem is coaching from the pre - season to the debacle against Ravenwood Eubanks just can't measure up when it really matters. So IHS may well win it's 1st round match-up only to be beaten again by Franklin in the 2nd round. Indy Nation you are stocked with young talent ( Prado & CO.) but as long as Eubanks is " managing " the game the rest of us in Williamson Co.can rest easy knowing the you will never realize your potential.Good Luck in West Tn. Your next beating by Franklin will begin promptly on Nov. 13 at 7 pm.

The "fan" has creeped out of the snake pit long enough to take a few shots at the Indy program once again. "Fan" what can you really tell us about this Indy team? I bet you cannot supply anyone on here with any factual information, so please, slither back into your hole and chew on another rat, or maybe we will get lucky and the rat will whip your @$$$$ and do us all a favor.

You can cry over spilt milk all you want, the facts here are that Indy is in. If you are truly a WillCo fan, then you know that everyone lost to Franklin and Brentwood. I follow Indy and the WillCo teams each season. Franklin and Brentwood have better talent and better overall coaching across the board year in and year out. Indy has some talent, but not near the talent that those two programs have, nor do Centennial or Ravenwood for that matter. I have seen Indy play several times this season, and saw many of the games in 2007 and 2008. I think Eubanks has done done a decent job in his time there. The Eagles have rebounded nicely after a rough 2008 season, and find themselves back in the playoffs.

Speaking of playoffs, the thread is about Arlington and Indy. I know some folks in the Memphis area that tell me they are a good football team, but might struggle in the quad they were placed in. I do think that Indy will present some problems for Arlington, simply based on the schedule that Indy has played. I also know that Indy has gone toe-to-toe with some great football programs this year and if they take their best effort to Arlington, they could win this game. I would not be surprised at all to see Indy take this one. I wish them well and hope they get it done, then maybe we see Indy and Franklin go at it again, if Franklin gets by Overton.

    Good Luck Indy :hungry:

  12. Well jrpfhs21, since you are from Franklin, please share what Franklin has done so far this year to impress anyone. They lost to the one team on their schedule that is worthy of discussion (Ooltewah).

Independence has played a much tougher schedule than the Rebs have and survived thus far. The Eagles should easily be 5-1 right now if they had closed out Brentwood several weeks ago, and yes bruin faithful, you know you got lucky that night. I guess jr have you seen enough of the eagles to be impressed or not is the question.

As for the game this week, I will go with my eagles. The lions of Columbia have had a great season so far, but all good things must come to an end sometime. Columbia is the class of their district this year and pretty much have a playoff spot locked up in their district so does this game mean a whole lot to them? While the eagles on the other hand need to win them all the rest of the way to secure a spot, or hope for a wild card slot. Get it done eagles! :roflolk:

  13. It just so happens I ran into an Indy parent at Publix this week and apparently the team did very well at Vanderbilt last weekend in their 7v7 tournament. He thought they had won maybe 8 games and lost 3, which I suppose for 7v7 is not too bad?

According to the same parent, the team is starting camp next week and will scrimmage Page next week as well. He seemed excited about the team's summer and feels like this team could do much better than many think they will. I follow the team as much as possible and feel this team could do very well. As Palin pointed out, the run game and defense will be the determining factor, but from what I hear and read, Coach Eubanks has made an attempt to address those areas this offseason. And Palin, I did see the Thompson kid play last year in a couple of ninth grade games, and does appear to be a pretty good athlete.

High school football is just weeks away! Hope all teams and all players have a safe summer camp!

    MJ

  14. Absolutley no love for the eagles of indy, which as a fan, i love to see. It is always a good thing to be looked over and underestimated.

Mighty early, but this is my outlook.

    Brentwood

    Independence

    Franklin

    Ravenwood

    Hillsboro

    Centennial

Most of my logic boils down to returning players or starters, "star" power for each team, key losses, coaching changes (Blade gone will really hurt the burros in my opinion).

Someone on here stated that Brentwood lost a lot of players, which I believe they did, but they also have a few guys back that I know of that are good players. Indy has a lot of players back, maybe the most back in all the region. Franklin lost a bunch of guys across the front lines and the Qb. Best Rbs around though! Ravenwood is hard to figure out. Have a few guys back with new coach. The burros are still coachless and lost some very talented players. Will they withstand the brutal stretch of games in the new region? Centennial will not be the Centennial of 2008. Lost too many key players, who were very good!

Yet another opinion for the thread.

Good luck to all the teams. I love middle tennessee football!

  15. Reading the Indy sites on hear it seems you guys have a little problem over there. Fighting among the ranks?????

    fbforme,

Don't let the likes of hsfbfan1 lead you to believe that Independence is in turmoil. If you will notice, the man (Angry Parent) has way too much time on his hands. Most of the posting that goes on in the threads is his, which you will notice, and the man never has anything good to say about the team.

The class of the program focus their energy elsewhere, miles away from coacht and the "few" that are here trying to give the program a black-eye.

Fighting among the ranks? No, that is just hsfbfan1 talking to himself!

As for the team, I believe they have had a productive winter for sure. Matter of fact, I just made a donation to the program this past week as part of their liftathon. The young man I donated the money to was very upbeat and excited about where he and his team are at this point of the year. Sounds good to me!

And finally for the record, some were speaking of the talent level, that 2007 team was very good, but even then, they were athletically outmatched in many of their games. The 2008 team was nowhere near the caliber team as the 2007 team, and anyone in the stadium the past two seasons could know this. I know several of the kids that will makeup the 2009 team and I think they could do very well this year, so I and many others are excited about the upcoming season.

  16. Good to see the bandwagoners haven't totally run off. Enjoy yourselves and continue to defend to the end.

I will defend to the end. That is what those of us that support our team will do. Good, bad or indifferent, I will always do what I can to support our team rather than undermine it or attempt to hold up progress. I encourage all of the Indy Nation to do the same!

I am sure Coach Eubanks would not mind me sharing this, because it is perfect for folks like you. He shared in an email to his team and parents (I know this because I got it!) that players need to lead, follow or get out of the way. The true Indy fans will do the same. You have made it clear how you feel in this forum, so just get out of the way!

    Fly High Eagles! Always!

  17. Any word on other signees, interested colleges, etc.? If they get as much support from the coaching staff as was demonstrated last year during recruiting season ( and again, why should anything change?) these kids are basically on their own after the season is over. Good luck kids and keep in touch! Remember all the help you received from your HS coaches to realize your dreams of playing on Saturdays and be sure to give back with the same self-sacrificing generosity that they have demonstrated for you. Yeah, right!

fan, you continue to roam the Indy threads and spread your total ignorance. And based on your coacht career, ignorance is just about all you spread. Give it a break would ya? You look more foolish every time you post on here.

I bet your boy is embarassed and thrilled to be graduating. You should enroll in coacht GED classes and move on yourself.

No coach to my knowledge has ever gotten a scholarship, the players do my man!

  18. Word on the street is that the infamous Coach Rector has left the Ravenwood Raptors football program high and dry in search of greener pastures as a "graduate assistant" at WKU. This happens on the eve of a season where Rector's Raptors were going to be the odds-on favorite in middle Tennessee. Coach Rector breaks ties a prominent powerhouse to go become a "GA" at a local lower tier college program?

I am not sure about everybody else, but this sounds funny to me. I am pretty sure that there are a few pieces missing to this puzzle. Does anyone have any more information about this sudden happening?

Also...Who steps up and fills Coach Rector's shoes? Who is willing to brave the mine-field that is RHS Athletics?

"This happens on the eve of a season where Rector's Raptors were going to be the odds-on favorite in middle Tennessee."

    You can't be serious!

If anything, I have heard that he has picked a great time to leave Ravenwood due to the fact that the cupboard is somewhat bare compared to previous years there.

  19. Being from Independence this drew my attention because the Fairview Middle coach attended a couple of games this fall at IHS. There were rumors coming around that he would be our new OC next year. I guess that was false. Looks like he has landed a nice job in Fairview. Stinks for the coach going out. I saw the story in the Tennessean and the Fairview principal said he had no idea why the coach would resign. Something seems kind of fishy on the western half of the county. Surprise this has not gotten more interest.

    Fairview Coach Resigns

"There were rumors coming around that he would be our new OC next year."

    SAY WHAT? /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />

  20. Someone correct me if I am wrong (which I am sure someone will) but I believe that Coach Eubanks was the defensive coordinator at IHS when Smith was the head coach. I am fairly confident that Coach Eubanks served as the offensive coordinator the last two seasons.

Is there any word out of IHS as to who might be on staff this year? I know that some of the coaches had to leave the program. Any new additions so far?

  21. I believe 2009 could be a good one for the eagles. They return a lot of guys that got some significant playing time in 2008. The Heckman kid will finally become a senior. Yes, he is still around! I am not sure what the rest of the new region will look like at the QB position, but I would think that Heckman is the best the region will have to offer. I will agree with Indy Nation on most of what he has stated. I am not sure where Coach Eubanks will go as far as the RB position. Maybe other posters can fill us in more on that situation.

Both sides of the line should be pretty solid. Many of those guys are back, and they are not small. The name up front that many teams will get to know will be Drew Kelly. That kid is big and plays hard.

The defense can only get better!

I was also informed just this week that several coaches have had to step down. I was told the defensive coordinator and two others would not be back. I do not know enough about them to share much more than that, but it appears Coach Eubanks will be looking to find a few coaches.

I do think that 2009 has the makings of a really good season. Good luck eagles!

  22. Lets start with who returns the most guys for each program! Good place to start with it being way too early to tell who might finish where. Which program will take the biggest hit due to graduation? Who will be the standout players to watch in 2009?

I follow the eagles of IHS, so I can speak more about them than the others. Indy will return a bunch of guys, including one of the best Qb's in the region, if not the best.

I know that Franklin will lose quite a few guys on both sides, more so on offense from what I saw looking at their roster during the playoffs. They do have the best RB's in the region back though in Ford and Lee. I saw that Brentwood will lose some key players, but do return some players as well. It appears to me that Centennial will lose the most from their 2008 roster. Not real sure about Ravenwood, Raptor folks?

The newcomer, Hillsboro, is losing some pretty talented players as well from their 2008 roster. Don't know a lot about them either, other than they have several of those polished balls in their trophy case.

  23. Smyrna-Blackman gate will be HUGE in 2009! /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />

Wait a minute, rumor has it that Coach Shad will be named head coach at Riverdale on Wednesday! /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />

  24. depending on qb play, I believe the cougars can possibly go 7-3

Two words for you: WAKE UP!

Sorry, they lose too many athletes, but hey, you did say "possibly" and I guess anything is possible.

I will go out on a limb and say maybe 4-6 or possibly 3-7 looking over their schedule.

I do like the new coach there. It appears he was a nice fit for their program.
