  1. Well like I said before the Maryville Game was a real barn burner. I guess Coach Hutchins was not ready to reveal the "Secret Formula" But thats okay us Cherokee fans like to lose game after game year after year. As usually Coach Hutchins made the crowd so happy with his brilliant play calling, what a master mind he is. Even the band members have the plays memorized. Thats what happens when you run the same plays over and over. But as a fan I enjoy knowing the plays ahead of time, it makes me feel like part of the team. But what makes me the proudest is how "Coach" Duncan stands down on the field game after game watching the South Doyle football program crumple before his very eyes. He looks almost looks proud of what he has done to South Doyle. You know you can say alot of bad things about the South Doyle program, but one good thing you can say is we are consistent. We consistently lose, are Coach consistently looks stupid, are fan are consistently upset, the refs consistently hate our coach, are players attitudes are consistently downs, and the entire program is consistently an embarassament. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

not to be a smart A, but the grammer police has arrived.

    ARE DOES NOT EQUAL OUR.

By the way good luck on the rest of the season, except in two weeks

  2. 4merhhsplayer,

Are you saying the WR coach dont know how to teach blocking? If he cant teach em to block then why keep him on staff?

Why cant Coach J call the offense? If you are the head coach shouldnt you be able to call either offense or defense? Some coaches are better cordinators than they are head coaches to. Does that apply to Coach J? I'm not saying it does but surely he is capable of calling the offense and or the defense if the case be. Who would call the defense if Coach J got sick and was in the hospital on Friday night? He should have someone to replace him in that case. Who would call the offense if the OC got sick and couldnt be at the game? I would hope Coach J, unless he got Caoch Ward to do it. If that is who he would get, get him to come back now fulltime and do it.

I'm over it until we make some changes in the direction our program is going.

Either Coach Kirby would call the defense or Coach Qualls would.

Let's put it this way, Coach J has been the DC pretty much since he got here. Just like Coach J, Coach John Chavis has always been a DC. Would you want Chavis calling the offense for the Vols ( and don't give me this fire Fulmer or Clawson crap, I am tired of hearing all that).

I am not saying Coach Sexton can't coach them, I am saying they need a WR coach TO teach them, not that he can't, he can teach them and he does.

  3. Kirby, as I understand it, has always been a defensive guy. I believe he called the defense at Karns and West in the past. Kirby also has been a head coach before if memory serves me correctly. So, not to sound like a smart A...but using your own logic concerning Coach J, the same probably should be said about Kirby. Any way you cut it Coach J is the head man and will figure out where things need to move from here, whether that means some shuffling of coaches or taking on a different approach to off-season preparation or in season preparation or whatever it may be.

That's what I was trying to prove, you probably wouldn't want Coach Kirby to call the offence because he is a defensive guy.....just like Coach J.

I see that you got where I was going, but lets hope some other person gets that idea.

  4. Halls will beat L.C., but will loose to SD. Season record will be 3-7, worst in many, many, many years. There need to be some changes made. I know somebody will get on here and say since I am so smart that I need to go to Coach J and tell him what to do. Well I would bet he raeds this board, now he may not post on here, but I bet he reads it. so here goes:

    1) Get rid of the receivers coach or move him to coach another position..if we aint throwing the ball but a handful of times why do we need him? If we keep him and I aint got nothing against him, then open up the offense and throw the dang ball. Leran how to block for the QB so he has time to throw it to our players.

    2) Get rid of OC and call the offense yourself.

    3) Continue working with Defense but have someone else call the shots on D.

    4) Run many different formations and plays and drop the gol dern LDLDL. Nothing wrong with wing-t, but also add some types of missdirection plays and belly plays. Go visit other HS that we dont play and see what they do. D-B might be a great choice, Hillsboro runs the wing-t so go visit them. They have gave Maryville fits in the state champ game for 3-4 years.

    5) We already have a good strong program and we had a sprint camp. Continue doing that. Make the players work out everyday. If we are going to get back to where we were in football, we need to quit having so many football player play wrestling and basketball and baseball. Get em in the weight room and keep em there. Get em up at 6 in the morning to work out if you do let them play other sports. What ever they put in it is what they will get out of it, and right now it dont look like we are putting much into it cause we dang sure aint getting much out of it.

    Alright let's break this down....again.

    1) Coach Sexton is the WR coach. Recievers do more than run routes, they block also, someone needs to teach them how.

    2) Why would Coach J call the offense when he is calling the defense. I don't think there is anyone on staff that could call the defense better. Have you ever thought that Coach J would not be a good OC. Just because you can call a defense, does not mean you can call an offense. Calling the either one is a differnt animal amongst itself.

3.) Why not just try a new OC? Maybe Coach Kirby, he is a smart guy, maybe he could do it.

4.) That is the you best suggestion thus far.

    5) They are kids, let them be kids. These boys have other desires than just football. For some of these guys, other sports is one of their only ways to go to college. If I was athletic enough to play more than just football, I would have. I would have played every sport that I possibly could have. This is high school for goodness gratious. Also, if players play other sports, they already have to work out in the morning.

  5. Halls will have to do what Anderson County couldn't do against Powell. The Mavericks have a very balanced attack, but their passing game relies heavily on the success of their running game. Powell's gameplan was simple: stop the run. That has been the Achilles' heel of the Panther defense, especially early on this season. Both Campbell County and Maryville were able to run all over Powell. If Halls can run the ball with some success against Powell, Halls has a better than average chance to win. In Powell's 2 losses, they gave up 40+ points and 400+ yards rushing (in each game). The outcome of this game hinges on the success of Halls' running game.

That is a good point. Thus far, we haven't shown any inclination to a passing game. We have slightly attempted one, but with no success, we fall back on ol'faithful. If Powell is able to stop the run, then Halls has a small chance of running unless turnovers are a major factor and we can kick numerous fieldgoals and hold Powell's explosive offense in check.

  6. Yes i was a player for halls, hince the name 4merhhsplayer

Your attacks on Coach Williams' hieght make you sound bitter. Maybe you didnt get to play while he was the RB coach?

If your only attack is that he is short, big whoop, i know plenty of short people who are smart.

Plus you say Coach J needs to call the offense, do you think it would help the team if he had to call offense and defense? I believe that would hurt the team more then it would help them. Coach Williams is doing fine, I think it is more of execution. Halls is very similar to UT this year, had high hopes coming into the season with a new OC. The play calling is good enough, but execution is not there. Missed blocks, not hitting the right hole or not hitting it quick enough, missed reads on pass plays, or not throwing at all. This goes for all of football, the coaches coach, and the players play. The coaches can get the kids in the right place and teach them the right things to do, but when the time comes, are they going to do what they have been taught?

  7. 1st- Bitter at all, gee take a break and look your post and tell me you're not bitter

    2nd- and do it.

3rd- You say ironman80too is hiding, what do you call what you are doing?

4th- Your repeated attacks on Coach Williams is uncalled for. Maybe he is not the best OC in the world, but I am sure he is trying his best. And I am pretty sure how tall you are does not determine what plays you call so you bringing up the fact that he is on the short side has no relevence at all.

5th- The way you represent the Halls community and the Halls program on this website with your posts, people will take him over you anyday.

  8. Asked 3 different players if they watch the previous game film and they said no. As far as gold cards-you still need conditioning.

sundays are not mandatory, players come in and watch it on their own. mondays is when it is encouraged to be there. or that is how it was in the past years....

  9. I will respond and i have no dog in the fight. Most dont know it but #6 has had 2 concussions already this year. He played in both games even after he was knocked out! THAT IS ANOTHER TOPIC ABOUT THE TRAINER! As far as the kick and punt returning-he is the best they have. Pass plays to #6- thats a joke. They either throw the fade to the receiver or a screen. They threw 2 against bearden to 6 but hasnt been thrown many passes. Let me tell everyone 2 things i know. 1) The football team DOES NOT watch game film from the previous game!!!!!!! They do not go back and grade or show the players what they are doing wrong or right. What better way to coach and learn than by seeing it on film. I have never played for or heard of a team that doesnt watch the film. 2) I knew there might be a problem this year when the coach let any players that sold 30 coupon books out of running at the end of practice. What a joke. You open up with a team that has won 60 in a row and he is letting kids out of conditioning.

sunday afternoon, players come in and watch the tape of their last game, and they watch the tape of the upcoming team. i also believe coach kirby breaks down the film with all the guys that actually play or could play on monday morning.

its not coupon books, they are called gold cards and he has done this every year since he has been here and it has never been a problem.

  10. Bugman, by your diction and the way your spell your short hand, i am guessing you're in high school and possibly a player.

If you think just throwing in a sophmore QB who HAS NOT PLAYED VARSITY LEVEL FOOTBALL AT ALL is going to help the passing game, then you are sadly mistaken. If you would want to take Turner out and just play him on D, then Dowdy is the best choice, he has experience in pressure situations (a la Maryville last year).

Also i might be wrong here, but Coach Julian records go as this....

1st year) Went 7-4 in his first year (team with Vandergriff, Lucas, Cox, Buroff, Ferg. etc.) lost in first round

2nd year) Went 5-5 in his second year (team with Leonard, DW, O'Conner, Cooper played)

3rd year) went 8-4 in his third year (team with Dayton, Hughes, Kitts, Blair, Kelly, etc.)

So if my math serves me correctly that puts Coach Julian at two winning records and a even 500 record in his 3 years. So where you get your math I don't understand your logic.

So, if you're a player or discruntled parent, you need to read what your write before you post it because you are delusional.

  11. yes seems that we have some fair-weather fans.....

all i am going to say is that it was nice to see some pass plays, but we have to do more than fade routes. the slants were open all night, the cb was either playing bump coverage or playing off of the wr. the safety was on the other side of the field, and the outside linebacker was up on the line. HELLO throw a slant, the olb didn't drop back in coverage so it was open for a 10+ gain everytime. i believe we completed one slant pass the entire night. /sad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":(" border="0" alt="sad.gif" />

otherwise i believe our defense played good enough to win. we had some times of shawty tackaling, but going against a elusive back like young will do that to ya.
