**Limited action due to blowouts by half-in other words the dawgs get called off and we are playing with running clock and just moving the chains for the most part. Limited on D as well throughout season.

If these stats plus the eye test aren’t worthy of a Mr. Football nomination in comparison to other 1A players this season I don’t know what is.

    2017 14-1 State Champs MVP/All State

2018 10-0 to date ranked #1 in AP poll

He actually has 30 passing TDs.

    Loudon 2...CAK 7...Sunbright 4...TKA 4...Oliver Springs 0...Grace 5...Coalfield 3...Harriman 4...Midway 1

Also one of his def. INT was returned for a TD against Loudon.

Midway could still win the region if they was to win and win out.  I've seen some strange things in Midway such as fog so thick that you couldn't see 2 feet in front of you.

The mystery fog...at least it's never green...remember one meeting between us that the officials marked off yardage when either of us was going to punt, because it was so low and thick.

That Childress man had yall in Region 1 but you petitioned the Association and got moved to Region 2.  Maybe next time yall will stay put then you wouldn't have all these open dates.

We wouldn't have much of a gate when it came to hosting region games plus trying to pick up one more non-region game to make a full schedule.

I just noticed that Unaka and Hancock co. play twice in the regular season. I wonder which one counts? It was a 14-16 loss for Unaka and it is Hancock co. only region win. If Unaka beats Hancock both would have 1 region loss. If they flip a coin or how ever they decide the tie breaker we could actually have a first round game if Hancock comes in last. Do we want a bye to rest, or play and keep the rust off?

The first meeting counts towards Region record...

Think it was Alcoa that beat GP something like 99 to 0.  Might have been Trousdale that scored about the same thing that year .Thus the mercy rule.

Did a tiny bit of research...

The Alcoa versus G-P happened in the first round of the 2005 playoffs...Final 91-7...remember seeing the score on the news thinking it was a typo, can't believe its been that long ago tho.

An your correct about Trousdale Co., they beat Red Boiling Springs the week before playoffs 91-0...which I think wouldn't have been a big shocker anyways.

This old man is headed to bed....gotta get rested up for the big game tomorrow. I hope we show up with our "A" game, so it doesn't disappoint the TV folks. Usually, before I head to bed, I read a little. Thought I'd share my devotional materials tonight with everyone......two points:

    1.) Historical Reference

    1814075448_GreenbackWeek.thumb.jpg.9db295def5d4e287891f67aea301b5d0.jpg

Thank you to the historian that tweeted this out to the Rams faithful this evening. Always good to reminisce a bit.

2.) Found an old video of a fine Cherokee fisherman......

    See the source image

See y'all tomorrow.......hoping for a great game and healthy ending for all involved.

Gotta take in consideration who we had as a HC at that time tho...

It happened to us in 03. We were not challenged the entire regular season and got upset by cak in the first round.  Alot of fans had already punched their ticket to mtsu and i proclaimed that we were football gods on here.  We were ripe for the picking and we haven't been the same since

It would have been a tall task for anyone in the East to have got past Will Healy, Matt Peardon and the rest of the Boyd-Buchanan Buccaneers, that year.  I watched them have their way with CAK in the Semi-Finals, glad it wasn't us in a way.

90,91 and 92 we beat them in the 1st round of the playoffs. After that I moved off to go to school in Tulsa but remember coming home in the mid to late 90's and watching a regular season game where we got absolutely trucked they scored like 70 something points on us. South Pitt was fun to watch that night that had speed everywhere.

That had to be the '98 meeting at home, VFL Eddie Moore was let loose against us. The score was SP 49 GB 30 after the 3rd...that looks a lot better until you throw in that 4th quarter...Final SP 77 GB 30. An the best I can remember the 30 pts. we scored was the most by anyone SP played that season.

Curious?Wins and losses before 85 and after Sattetfield took over. The 85 team changed football forever at GB.

About time you showed up,beginning to think you and Roy ran off together.

The start in 1957 to 1984...28 seasons; (103-168-10) with one playoff game appearance.  38.4 win %

The awakening in1985 to CAK(8-24)...34 seasons; (270-128) with 65 playoff game appearances.  67.8 win %

    Record by Decade:

    1957-59:  (4-22-3)

    1960s:  (28-67-5)

    1970s:  (53-46-2)

    1980s:  (57-53)

    1990s:  (79-41)

    2000s:  (68-46)

    2010s:  (84-21)

Here something for your amusement, since Blount Co. consolidated to form HHS and WB...here's a record comparison to GB in the same frame of time (to the best of my knowledge).

    Heritage 1977-Now  (139-282)...GB (301-177)

    WB 1979-Now (144-264)...GB (295-165)

  13. GB is 15-2 overall versus the Tigers...those 2 lone loses came at their place tho, anybody scared now...haha,

Scoring in this series is basically 3:1, overall GB 643 SB 214 and the average scoring differential in series is 32.4 points.

Here's a real historical tidbit from this series...our meeting on Oct. 12, 2001(W 40-8) marked the point in which GB overall became a winning program there after, making our record at that time (234-234-10)...as of Friday it is now (373-296-10).

This is what I’ve heard on the offensive stats.....

    QB #3 - 463 passing yards, 7 TD’s

    WR #23- 241 receiving yards, 4 TD’s

    WR #4- 141 receiving yards, 2 TD’s

WR #26- 1 receiving TD, not sure on yardage but the TD was around 60-70 yards

Just want to say that when the defense gets rolling (did better tonight than last Friday), this team WILL be absolutely scary!!

Bryce was 11-21 also...the passing game tonight put up what I would call, video game numbers.

Bass I’m as cool as a cucumber...must have used too many exclamation marks......

What’s your real thoughts on Whitwell this year? I know we’ll see them in a couple weeks but have no idea what to expect other than they are a pretty good 1A football team. Has Greenback ever played Whitwell in football? I can’t recall ever matching up but sure remember playing against them in girls region basketball games back in the day.

We've played them twice, back in '97(W 53-28) & '98(W 31-0) as region opponents when we were in the Chattanooga area region('93-'98).  Billy Linginfelter was named the AP State POTW(when they did that type of thing) for 1A, for his performance in that '97 game...6 TDs (4 off...1 def...1 ST)

  16. The Friday following the Whitwell scrimmage, we'll be at home scrimmaging G-P.  Think there's a 7 on 7 with Meigs Co. at home, the week after the dead period also. And of course more than likely participate in the Maryville College 7 on 7 as always.

  17. Guess it's safe to talk a little football now, since baseball is over sadly...

FIRST, CONGRATS TO THE BASEBALL PLAYERS AND COACHES ON AN EXCELLENT SEASON, WE WILL BE BACK TO GET'EM NEXT YEAR...

Back to the pigskin...will this fall be as advertised...Iike many, I sure hope so. A fourth consecutive trip to the "SHIP" would put Greenback into a prestigious group of only 8 other schools to achieve the same/or more [Maryville, Alcoa, Trousdale Co., Riverdale, Brentwood Academy, MBA, Ensworth & Bishop Byrne]. It would also be the very first time any school that has ever competed in Class A/1A to accomplish this achievement.

    LET'S GET IT STARTED!!!

We dont have rust at GB anymore, just silver and Gold. Not to mention we just won the Dist in Basketball, went to the state in Baseball and return another great baseball team (better than last year),Also return almost all starters from a STATE CHAMPION football team (lost one lineman, but just signed a 6'4 250 pound soon to be 8th grader to fill that spot) and will be a player to go deep in the playoffs again. So how to remove rust---send them to us.LOL.
