  1. While it may not be the time to make friends, it is the time to show your team how to have "class". Putting the starters in against subs..... low class and poor sportsmanship. And the starters continue to shoot to run the score up. Is this a team and coach I would be proud to say are State Champs? Nope. I think the booing from the entire crowd in the Boro showed the same opinion as mine.
  2. Good job Perry County! I said earlier this year that Academy could be beaten and wouldn't win state.... I just love it when I am right.
  3. I have been reading this thread and would like to add my 2 cents worth. YES CA recruits. They recruited the Smith brothers when they were in the 7th grade. It is one of the worst kept secrets in 10a. I personally have talked to people who worked at CA in the athletic dept when the twins came. I didnt know about the Waverly boys, but I am not surprised. Being a private school they can work around the system, example.... offering jobs to parents in their school. They have always gotten away with it, its highly unfair to public school teams, but no one has or is going to do anything about it. Apparantly TSSAA turns a blind eye. But truth is truth, and all of you CA fans know it.
  4. I am sitting in the McEwen gym watching a sad sight. now, I am not a fan of McEwen or CA, but McEwen outplayed them every quarter until the 4th, and now it has become a game of 5 on 8. the calls have went to heck and all in favor of CA. Its obvivous and sad, but it IS what high school bball has become. kudoes to McEwen. You cant beat 8 on the floor. You WOULD of beaten 5.
  5. Congrats to the HC girls on a big district win against McEwen tonight! Lady Irish looked good doing it too.
  6. What u say is true, and their coach may of seen it, but it was out of control. They react badly and with very poor sportsmanship to a close game. Do I think HC could of beaten them? No. But it was a heck of a game. The change of offense after halftime really hurt HC, why fix it if it aint broke? CA will win 10A again this year, no doubt. But will they be state champs again? Not playing like they did last night.
  7. Houston County played well last night, even in defeat. Well done boys! To the teams of 10A... last night there was a crack in the armor. Academy was rattled and can be beaten. The final score does not reflect the true game. Losing Featherstone really hurt Houston County. Pulling Roper and putting Monroe at point was.... well, hes the coach. I guess he knew what he was doing.
  8. saw SC play, saw MC play, saw CC play. MC is the best of these 3.
  9. went down to HC last night for the games against Stewart County. Got there in the second quarter and HC was down 21 - 8. Those girls never panicked, pulled themselves together with some FINE team play, and came out the winners! HC is the team to beat in 10A.
  10. Yes. Roper cracked a bone in his hand. Don't know how bad or how it will affect the team. I had high hopes for the team this year, but looks like its gonna be a pass pass pass season. Coach... you have a talented squad. Let them PLAY. Take the outside shots, drive the ball in. Come on....you are gonna put this team in the bottom of the district if you dont. and thats a shame.
  11. saw Stewart County play at a camp this year. They're good. Montgomery Central ought to be in the mix too.
  12. 48 - 42, must of been a heck of a game. I wish I would of went now. Congratulations to both teams and good luck to 10A. Who made all region for McEwen?
  13. ahhhh sounds like WHH gave em a heck of a ballgame anyways! I will have to say a job well done for WHH, they came together towards the end of the season. Congrats on second and good luck next week.
  14. Also. who went all tournament? Can you post that flash? plz
  15. WH-H 28-24 end of 3 So??? Who won? No scores yet here or in the Tennessean.
  16. IMO it will come down to McEwen and HC, and HC better have another trick up their sleeve, MC won't go for the slow play again. All District Players and MVP? Any predictions?
  17. If the team that beat WHH shows up they have a good chance of beating McEwen, if the team that has let McEwen beat them twice this year shows up, then it will be a loss. But it's hard to beat the same team 3 times in a row, unless you are a powerhouse. I have puzzled over HC all year. They are a much better team than their record shows, they have alot of talent,... but injuries, technicals, losing their point guard, player placements, hot hands sitting on the bench, the constant running in and out of the players, all these things ( imo) have hurt them. I still haven't figured out why Monroe is wayyy out on wing. Anyone who has even seen him play knows what he can do at post. Roper is finally getting some playing time, and it shows on the scoreboard. Wilson hits 6 3 pointers a few games back, and has barely hit the floor since...Barnes rarely shoots... why??? Featherstone rrunning the ball?? Why??? Guess that's why I'm not a coach eh? The WHH post players ( srry, don't know their names )are capable of big things, all they need is floor time. Any team can be beaten on any given day ( last years district tourney defeat of CA ) but they have to want it. My coach always told me whoever wants it the worst will win it. We shall see... Good luck to e1 in the tourneys!
  18. anyone know the score? Did they play since McEwen was out of school today?
  19. Nashville Tennessean shows McEwen and WHH tied for second.
  20. Last year in 11AA Cheatham got beat in the tournaments, I honestly don't remember if they won regular season championship or not, but district MVP went to Lizzie Walker of Cheatham, showing you don't have to be the top team to win MVP. Baggett is a good point guard, but she's only a sophomore, so I don't see her getting it, I agree it will most likely be a McEwen girl, they are a very good team. I have only seen them play once this year, but I do agree it should be the point guard. She's a real shooter and commands the floor and leads her team like a point guard should.
  21. he had something to do for his church. everyone knows thats why they lost. i bet if they play again its gonna be an ugly just like the first one. I have no doubt of that. Sure would like to see it too.
  22. You are very right, it wasn't a blowout, and from looking at the stats in the Tennessean, if someone could of just handled Malcolm, things might of been different. At least now someone else has seen that the twins get a little ummm... protection ( is that the word I need to use ) from the refs. I was wrong on the WHH / ER game too, and a little surprised, also the JB / MH game. Guess my 2 cents were not even worth 2 cents tonight. lol HC / NC was a close game until right before half.... don't know what went wrong. I only listened to it on the radio, didn't go. Having Featherstone run point didn't help. not that he does a bad job, just the opposite, but he needs to be free to shoot. I know with Skelton out, Monroe was played in the low post, where he's played since 6th grade, and came up with 24 points, I still don't understand why Cox has him out on wing. With boys like Skelton and Monroe and Roper I would have 2 of them down low. Can't doubleteam both of em without opening up outside shooters. And any of the 3 can power the ball up and make the shots. Oh well, maybe thats why I'm not a coach.
