  1. Giles -vs- Franklin County friday
  2. I would have to say it was the Giles County -vs- David Lipscomb game on October 17, 2008. This was one of those games that kept your attention the whole way through. First Quarter GC scored 8 yard run (7 - 0) DL scored 68 yard run (7 - 7) Second Quarter GC scored 1 yard run (14 - 7) DL scored 21 yard run (14 - 14) Third Quarter GC scored 5 yard run (21 - 14) Fourth Quarter DL scored 14 yard run (21 - 21) DL scored 31 yard pass (21 - 28) GC scored 1 yard run (28 - 28) DL scored 27 yard field goal (28 - 31)
  3. They also scrimmage Lincoln County, Franklin County and Ardmore.
  4. I believe Giles will scrimmage Ensworth and BGA
  5. Try Andy Griffith for one. Just because society thinks it's okay doesn't mean I have too!
  6. I commend you and thank you for your efforts and I wish all coaches thought as you did. That part of the coaching has fallen to the wayside, it's all about the win now. As a parent of a football player I do get offended if I know a coach has cussed at my son. I do not allow that kind of language in my home and just because they hear it when they are away from my house doesn't make it okay. I try to teach my children to respect others and when you cuss at someone you are showing disrespect for yourself and the person whom you are talking to. Coaches are role models and I can guarantee the coaches that do not cuss at the boys have alot more respect from them than those that do. There are other ways to make the point without using cuss words. There are plenty of coaches who who are very successful without the use of such language.
  7. The bad thing is people forget the young man is not his father but they tend to take out what they don't like about the father on the son. He is a very nice polite young man, people let him make his own name and don't let how you feel about the dad affect the way you think about this young mans ability. He is very talented and Giles is a better team with him. Best of luck to Giles County this year.
  8. Thanks, I hate missing any of the games/scrimmages.
  9. I didn't get to make the scrimmage you gave the play makers on the offense so who were the play stoppers on the defense?
  10. You are correct and they are ready to go! /biggrin.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":D" border="0" alt="biggrin.gif" />
  11. Giles will scrimmage Lincoln next friday
  12. I wouldn't consider losing by 1 point a whooopin! It was a very close game and a darn good one at that. Neither team had anything to be ashamed of. I don't recall any crying on Giles side-I do recall a few questionable plays and that was it. The crying that was being done was by Lipscomb about one of their players being hurt.
  13. I wouldn't call Giles County arrogant just because we have several topics on here about our team. I would call this team alot of things but arrogant is not one! They are good and have worked hard to get where they are. Determined would be a better definition of this team. I am not saying other teams haven't worked as hard cause I can't speak for them but I can say that these boys have put in the hours and effort to earn respect and not to be called arrogant-to me that sounds like an insult. It's a little early to start name calling isn't it?
  14. But can't that be said for all the new districts? Don't all of them consist of smaller and larger schools in a general area?
  15. Schedule change or not there was excitement about this coming year for Giles. People have high hopes for the Bobcats before the season was even over last year they were talking about what the team would do this year. They are saying this is the year the Bobcats get that ring. Several of these posts makes it sound like we are going to play all push over teams, well there not. Anything can happen on any Friday night the team just has to stay focused on what they want and not overlook any team.
  16. I know they will have to replace seniors Alan Campbell, Patrick Timms. The rest of the defense will be back. Whats your take on the them.
  17. Fri Aug. 21 at Cookeville Fri Aug. 28 Lawrence Co. Fri Sep. 4 Spring Hill D Fri Sep. 11 Shelbyville Fri Sep. 18 at Page D Fri Oct. 2 Hickman Co. D Fri Oct. 9 Fairview D Fri Oct. 16 at Lewis Co. D Fri Oct. 23 East Hickman D Fri Oct. 30 at Marshall Co. D They all possibly could on any given friday. It's usually the teams that get overlooked that come back to bite you. If Giles doesn't look ahead and stays focused on one game at a time they should win them all. I'm not sure about Cookeville, Shelbyville, Hickman, Fairview, Lewis or E. Hickman but Marshall usually gives them a hard game and its never nice when we play Page /mad.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="mad.gif" />. Lawrenceburg is usually tough just because it is a rivalry game for the cowbell, not sure what Spring Hill will do this year
  18. Lastly, you might want to do some research on high school football....most states don't make their football coach teach and states that do make them teach they give them jobs like PE, weightlifting, or drivers ed. It was more or less implied in your post that coaches taught those classes and I was just stating that in Giles County our coaches actually teach classes that are necessary to graduate(I know 1 year of pe is required) and our Head Coach besides teaching US History does teach the weight/conditioning class. If I knew nothing of how high school coaches and teachers worked and read your post I would think that all coaches are PE, weightlifting or diriver's ed teachers I just wanted to point out that is not always the case. God Bless
  19. Shouldn't request someone do their research until you do yours not all coaches have pushover jobs. Giles County coaches don't just teach PE or weightlifting they don't even teach dirvers ed. The ones who teach at the high school teach History(3), Ag(2) and the Sciences(2).
