  1. I wonder why Hickman County Coach Swenson came for only 3 years and took the team to the final 4 last year and never had any of these problems? Are the people at East that bad? I have a bunch of family in east and they are not bad people . Somthing must really be wrong over there to have this much drama. Could it be the coach most of you are co-signing for on here is in reality not cut out to be a head coach ? I played for Coach Swenson for 2 years and he was a good coach, and we had some real dummies on our team but for the better of the team we needed them, so he worked with these idiots for the sake of the team, he could of threw them off the team, but each player brought somthing to the table that helped us,so for the sake of the kids who give thier all, he effectivly managed these guys so the goal was met, that is smart coaching. East could of won many more games last year had a certain coach not been so heard headed and realized he should of bent a little. In being so bullheaded he got a whole community ripping him and eventually led to his leaving.

  2. Dawgs 35 East 0!

    I told ya!

Not one, not two men make a team!

    Congrats Dawgs, go home East!

    Next...

Well stated BIG DAWG, now a question for anybody at EAST who may know the answer to the question.we were wondering why the Q back kept and ran so many times, if he ran with authority would be one thing , but to hit the line and lay down makes one wonder? When he threw, it was for a bulldog 6 points. #22 seemd like his hands were tied, could not break loose, I know the kid is a great runningback, but why did he keep laying blocks for #24, I think this has been the case all season for East. Hope they get it together, we were kinda shocked how well the defense contained ( without our 2 main backs), but they wore down and the floodgates opened. You guys got a good team, heart, grit, good attitudes. If your Coaches get thier heads out of thier behind and realize this style offense just dont work, ya'll can be real good from what I can see. Prayers for "Tater" hope he is not hurt too bad. Can anybody tell me why this "great coach" left the Varsity in after we put the JV in? Nice return for Tyler Heymans getting a TD in his return debut. Roll on bulldogs................

  3. I'm sad to say but I agree with some of what straightupthegut is saying..

    UNLESS...

From what I hear the High School and Middle School are working together....this is huge..get a system that these kids will know inside and out by the time they are in high school.

If the kids, families and coaches keep the fire that they have right now for years...Enthusiasm, heart and determination will go a long way.

I think that some fans are afraid of going back to the old ways of Hickman County....but every one goes through rebuliding years.

People want to talk about Maryville and Alcoa how they never do...know way? For starters there are very few private schools in that area. So all the talent goes to public schools. Secondly they have had winning seasons and championships so long, families MOVE there so their child can play there in hopes of getting a scholarship to a division I school.

Sorry to report the Middle School Coach is a joke, they are not on the same page as the high school. The middle School has some very good atheletes but keeping the same system is not a good idea. To piggy back each other will not work, our middle school got embarrased by east hickman middle and they do not run that same worthless system the high school does, you have got to do what works for your program, match the kids to what works for them. i hope they get it worked out that was embarrasing.

  4. I am not from your area...but have been reading some of the post on here...not only this one but there is another one complaining. I haven't been able to grasp what it is truely about. I notice that Hickman has lost one game to Marshall who is 5 and 0 by one point. Otherwise Hickman has run the table. Is it because they haven't won 50 -0 every game? What exactly is it........I mean the problem. Isn't Marshall a class above Hickman...3 A? Its just hard for an outsider to understand the complaining about the coaches/team when they are sitting 3-1. I would think that the positive is would everyone would be concentrating on, not one lost or winning by smaller margins that some would want. I understand that they have a new coach (s) from last year. But looking over last year they lost one in the season to Lewis. I just don't get it. Could someone help someone from the outside understand the problem. I read post all over...some schools and fans/players are excited at .500 season. Hickman.....some anyway don't seem happy with 3-1. Help me understand the problem so I can follow the post a little better.

It has been a long time, actually never. Has the bulldogs had a team this good. But as much as people will deny it, this is the last year of success like this. They can keep working hard and good things will happen, but sorry to say ,after this year, this era is over. You see it all over the US. every 25 years or so go by and out of the shuffle there is a majical group, This is the story here. I hear all the stories from the dads in the stands talking about how good thier team was and that is all good, but reality is Hickman County has never seen a team as this, and take it from me, they really can go all the way this year . They have the tools to do it. they are adjusting to the changes that took place ,they looked a little shaky at first but the ship is back on course, and things are working out. All people are wanting is to relish this as long as it can last, but in the backs of thier minds they know its over. That is where the frustration is. coach Smithson is a nice guy, his dedication is unmatched, but I have seen other sides of him and the public opinion is about split. Good and bad can be pointed out. For the parent to get mad.....well there are 2 side to every coin, I understand both views.Just support coach Patterson and stand behind him, the sea will get rough again but he is good captain of the ship. think back 5,6,7 years ago when the football program was horrid. we dont need to run this coach off.

  5. I feel real bad for all those boys. I know they have been working real hard since the spring and were egar to get a win. I know it will come soon. Just keep your head up and keep working hard. I lost my temper and did the same thing to some of them and should have not done that. They are just high school kids and not professional athletes. Being a bully does nothing but make the kids hate you and not want to play. Keep your head up East your day is coming.

Whats up Coach Smith , hope things are going good for you.

  6. Allow me to respond.

First, I'm not a coach, just someone close to the school. I assure you that my feelings are not hurt. I'm just sick of reading these boards and seeing individuals ripping on 15, 16, and 17 year-olds for going out and doing their best each and every week. Maybe Centervilleballer is one of these kids who is frustrated with the outcome of last Friday's game. If this is the case, then I can better understand the tone that his post took, and I can look past it, now.

You sound like you have been entrenched in some of the rumors circulating around here. Since you "knowthings" as your username implies, I'm sure you know that coaches don't make blocks or tackles or passes or catches or score touchdowns. Ultimately, it's up to the players to make plays when the lights come on and the glory should be theirs. I'm also sure that you understand that when a play doesn't work the way it is designed, you can give gredit to the opposing players and you can also place responsibility on the players of the team whose play failed. Having played the game in high school, I understood that if I missed a block and my man sacked the quarterback, then I had failed in fulfilling my responsibility. If the coach pointed that fact out to me, I knew he wasn't belittling or chastising me and I tried harder on the next play. I know the men who coach this team and I assure you that they wouldn't "blame" any one or two or three players for a loss. However, if you have one or two or three players missing their assignments on any given play the outcome is obvious.

This team is young, they and their coaches have experienced frustrations that would discourage many others, yet they continue to show up and work hard every week. I applaud their efforts and I support them and any other team in the same situation. The future will be better if they stick to it, continue to work hard, and don't worry about anything outside of their contro

???????????? What are you trying to say?

  7. I hope the best for East and hope they win. Word is they are imploding, no leadership, players at each others throats, losing fire and spark, one dimensional. They need to pull together as a team, help each other, quit pointing fingers, and keep giving 100% . It all starts at the top.

Frustration is to be expected, it is how one deals with it..... Good luck boys....... We are looking for a win this week.

  8. We have Big James down here now... He told me he was the best football player Hickman county ever seen. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> He is definetly a bandwagon guy. Bulldogs will collect and move on. We are confident, water is under the bridge........... Go Bulldogs.

Ha ha....... Glad to see him leave to go west with all his wisdom and knowledge that was one of the poisonious insects that kept trying to knock Coach Jones rising program.......that dude is nuts for real, good riddance.

  9. if hickman only has sowell im taking fairview. i think 11 fairview players may be able to stop and tackle one hickman player. Now, if hickman finds 10 other people to play with him then it might be a different story. Either way, i think fairview figures out how to play a full game and beats hickman 35-28

11 fairview players will not be enough to stop Sowell, it wont happen, Hickman wins big, if the defense gets it together, Hickman wins real big.

  10. They will be better this year, they will keep getting better each year, They might pull out a win or 2 ? maybe. The kids deserve a win, the ones that have stuck it out with all this drama really want to be there and are learning life lessons from this Coach that goes far beyond winning a football game. As far as "key" players (as posted in the paper). I dont think they were key players, they were head cases , that I would be safe to say the Coach just got sick and tired of the games. He is not out for a popularity contest ,nobody said football is easy, I think the statement is being made, and if they dont like it, move on .

They look like they have a long way to go still, I was pulling for East Hickman, but from my observations, Defensive and Offensive lines are a factor,4 foot tall safetys dont help much either, and 4 or 5 fumbles for turnovers, and completing 1 forward pass over the line of scrimmage the entire game will not get it......... the worst thing about this ,the one completed pass out of 2 attempts was to BGA that resulted in 7 BGA points. The first quarter numbers had to of been negative yardage. But on the other side of the coin BGA is a very skilled team. Hats off to East Hickman they never gave up.
