  1. Why are you so concerned about this? I don't know why he isn't playing, nor do I care. I am also not privy to the reasons that the Howards decided to change schools, but that is also none of my business (our your business), so again, I don't care. You can play the recruiting card all you want, but you'll never be able to offer any proof of wrongdoing. Based on the limited information that I have, there was a change made because the family moved, and both boys, including the older brother, who is not on the basketball team, were enrolled. I'm not sure why he isn't playing, but I trust the judgement of the people who would make that decision. They are the ones who see him at practice and in the classroom on a daily basis, and I can think of a variety of situations related to basketball, academics, or life outside of school where it might be in Mr. Howard's best interest to let him develop for a year. I do know that it is very atypical for a freshman to play much less start for the basektball team at MBA or any other large DII school for that matter, especially if they transferred in after the season started. He will still have 3 years to play on the varsity team, and it sounds like he has a lot of potential to be a very good player. You can keep taking digs at the MBA basketball program, but the bottom line is that this team of "football players" turned out to have as good of a year if not a better year than the Independence team, and as has been previously pointed out, MBA has more state titles than almost any other basketball program in TN.

MBA RECRUITS LIKE MANIACS!!!!! and it doesnt work!!!!!

    they cant win!

  2. the fans got louder when he fell back down....it was on BA's broadcast person that was hootin and screamin....IF you dont believe me go to youtube and search - Weldon Garlington Hit -

IF you arnt sure who darkwa is, he is top three junior RB in the state and hey has been the key to their successful season. And they went crazy when he went down...he got up just after he was hurt trying to walk off the field on his own and face planted into the crowd and BA went wild....im sure someone at the game can back me up, its just a amtter of time until someone reads this that was at the game

  3. MUS in a landslide....BA just isnt up to MUS talent....they squeeked there way into to this on a questionable 4th and inches call. They should have lost that game so dont expect them to play like that for 2 weeks in a row...

But how about this.... BA = low class

Orleans Darkwa goes down gets hurt --> fans of BA go INSANE!!!!! Darkwa gets up but falls back down --> fans uncontrollably insane.

BA knew they couldnt win that game unless they hurt one of the two athletes EHS had and it worked, they took both out of the game and they won. So congrats on the strategy (weather you call it cowardly or not).

But i have always had the highest respect for BA, they have always been good fans and never ones to point fingers or be beyond rude....but after the ensworth game i think they may have changed and this is why

1.) BA's players, parents, and student went uncontrollably wild when they saw a player from Ensworth (darkwa) get hurt. But the fact that he got up and fell hard to the ground again when attempting to leave the field and they got twice as loud as before. It almost came as a shock to me to see parents, students and players on their feet at the sight of a ensworth player serious hurt.

2.) When number 15 of ensworth got demolished by number 3. Now it was a massive hit and i jumped out of my seat cause you never see a hit like that, and im all for cheering that on cause thats football. But the fact that BA's commentator was hooting and screaming away when he saw it and continued to do so even after he saw that he was seriously injured. He was uncontrollable again. Now congrats on the hit but he has to remember these are high school kids and that looked bad, and all he could do was scream, when he should have been mature enough to controll himself because who knows who is watching that, he is representing something bigger than himself

3.)i felt like BA played with low class

    THE END

  4. Everybody seems to forget thet BA was picked to be head and shoulders better then anyone else in the state in the pre-season. They have lost a 1 point game to a very good Ravenwood team, and got drilled by a team from Alabama, that no one here knows anything about. We know that BA has great athletes, and I think it is a little early to start selling them short. I get the feeling that the EHS posters here are hoping for an MBA victory to give their win last Friday night more credibility. BA will be very good, and I expect a very tough game. BA would love nothing more then to beat MBA. Hold onto your hats.

Wait i cant tell if your serious....

Prattville is in the top 10 in the nation

  5. Yes i do

    Michael Dunn-WR/DB

    Watson Sweat-OL

    Matt Reed-WR

    Myers Beard-LB/FB

Those are the only starters on the EHS varsity football team who played for the 5th and 6th grade team at Ensworth.

That is 4 starter out of 22 starters so...looks like EHS and Coach Bowers are going out and getting the players he wants. But anyways EHS played a great game and won the game at the line of scrimmage. The game really showed how big of a loss it was for the Defensive line at MBA to lose starter Reuben Thomas to a ACL injury as well as Joseph Sloan to the same injury. The O line for MBA also not having starting Center Owen Lipscomb and losing Tackle Clark Benton early in the game as well as Joesph Sloan at TE with his catching ability and blocking. EHS now is the team the beat and they won't be sneaking up on anybody anymore. After watching the game, I would put Tavaress Jefferson and Orleans Darkwa as the best Duo of players in the state...they are Electrifying.

    Also,

    OL - Teddy Reeve

Reeve may start but Bowers does not

    Bowers does start - CB

  6. Ha if this is true, that is bad pact for Ensworth to come through on. With rowdy kids such as Scott Bubis, # 50, Barret Jaques #99, and Tom Corcoran #48, playing every Friday for #4, I would not want to see what would happen to the ensworth kid who hurt Tanner. With Scott having done things such as fighting in a churchball parking lot with a kid, from BA, after he ran his mouth on the court, the repercussions for the Ensworth kid who did this would be pretty harsh. Not only would this make the players mad but it would also aggravate the MBA student body. And im positive if you went over the ensworth today and asked every guy from their student if they would want to get into a fight with a group of MBA guys 99% of them wouldnt have the courage to say yes. Do the smart thing Ensworth and keep it clean.

    MBA by 21

    roll red

I go to ensworth and i know for a fact that isnt true. There has been no "pact signing" but i know they have been worried because they know he is a threat to the secondary considering he leads DII at WR this year. So if anything they have been using him as motivation to play well and shut him down. So i dont think there has been such thing as putting #4 on a streacher. We all know this game will be physical game but nothing of that sort. If anything he has just been used as motivation to play well

Ive also heard though that some MBA guys saying they were going to tear number 20's ACL....is that true? Im sure this is just a bunch of smack talk going back and forth between these school but i dont think anybody is serious if that has been said.

  7. I heard from one of my friends that goes to ensworth that all the players supposedly signed a pact to make MBA's #4 go off the feild on a stretcher.... This doesnt sound like something Bowers would let happen, but i dont know. Anyone that goes to ensworth, is this true?

  8. Yeah, that is what you said I just didn't feel like quoting the whole thing...sorry. He may run for 250 like he did against McCallie, but I would expect for MBA to try to slow the game down and keep the ball out of his hands, as well as have someone like #19 on his tail all night. EHS will have to be able to throw some to keep MBA honest or it will be a long night.

    what position does 19 play?

Im telling you right now that it wont be that big of an issue. The center goes up against a 6'6 315 nose guard

at practice every single day. He is ready for the challenge. The EHS line will toss MBA around.

    come on be realistic....

EHS line will not toss them around, MBA's line is fairly big....but his experience against that guy should help....but a game is always different than practie

  9. sloan out is big. whats bigger is mba defense vs. the sick nasty orleans kid. ive been preachin ensworth will be a power, is this there year?

i think this game will make or break ensworths season....as we saw last year, ensworth didnt rebound too well after losing to MBA 14-0....they suffered hard vs Father Ryan and didnt seem to be the team they started out as

i honestly see ensworth throwing the ball alot more this game. As most of yall know Ensworth has the majority of MBA's old coaching staff, and i think most of them would like to beat MBA. I honestly think they have saved up a bunch of jive for this game.

Does MBA know who is going to replace their Tight End? MBA shouldnt have to much trouble finding a replacement due to how many players they have and depths. Thats what is going to kill Ensworth i think. MBA has so many guys to choose from (about 2-3x more guys than EHS) that they have no trouble on depth when Ensworth suffers from one injury.

to close to make a score prediction though right now

  10. I'm not neutral at all, and about all I can say is that I was awfully glad the Hillsboro game didn't last another 5 minutes. In the second half, MBA's offense was balanced in that neither the run nor the pass worked. True, the defense made some very big plays, but only after being pushed down the field. Now, one of the hallmarks of a good team is that they win when they're not playing well, and certainly MBA is a good team. That game revolved around a blocked field goal and a heroic job of getting off a punt after a bad snap. If we're being completely honest, Hillsboro probably deserved the win, in the same way MBA deserved the win last year.

I'm hoping MBA plays a more consistent game Friday, and I'd be delighted if Ravenwood brought the team that played Goodpasture, and not the one that beat BA.

i was talking to gentle3000 but thats alright. thanks for the opinion though

  11. If you think MBA fans aren't going to be loud, you have another thing coming. I was at the Hillsboro game just as a neutral fan and have to say the MBA fans completely destroyed Hillsboro who you said were good fans earlier.

Also to talk about the game, MBA has a great balanced offense with a smashmouth, playmaking defense. Ravenwood is not going to be able to stop them on either side, and looking at their stats against BHS, their QB was 4/11 passing. If they cannot pass against MBA, they cannot win. Running will not get much of an effect for Ravenwood. Hillsboro had to resort to passing to stay in the game with MBA.

MBA will keep on rolling and ignorant Ravenwood fans such as Rappy will be heartbroken. I almost feel like paying the money to watch the expressions on their faces.

I'm normally not the one to bash people on coach t, but Rappy was too ignorant for me not to comment.

how can you say you were a "neutral fan" when you completely bashed Ravenwood and praised every aspect of MBA - "MBA fans completely destroyed Hillsboros"

    "smashmouth, play making D"

    "great balanced O"

"hillsburo had to resort to passing" - in case you didnt know they didnt have alex crutcher (starting D1 prospect to Texas Tech) and they run a spread Offence, which mean you pass the ball more than you run bud

and "MBA will keep on rolling"

you are most definitely an ignorant freshman or sophomore at MBA so dont go with a "hidden name"and say your a neutral fan when your not. come on

    thanks

  12. I can't imagine that he wouldn't have known he'd be ineligible for a year. But let's assume you're right; let's assume he went to EHS solely to play football at a higher level. Wouldn't he be better off playing at a higher level?

Everybody talks about what a fine young man he is and what a rough upbringing he's had. So he's at a top flight academic institution with a much higher athletic profile, playing for one of the best football coaches in Tennessee. It seems as though he might have actually caught a break in life, and you think there's something horribly wrong here? With friends and supporters like y'all, I certainly hope this kid never has enemies.

Except for the fact that I knew Ricky Bowers several years ago, Ensworth is nothing but a team I used to play against when I was a 7th and 8th grader, and now an opponent on MBA's schedule. Even if Ensworth provided every illegal inducment in the world to convince him to come there, shouldn't you maybe glad for the kid's opportunity?

    very very well said

  13. I am looking forward to this game. I think a year's experience, plus the arrival of Joey Skogen makes this year's McCallie offense a bit better than last year's O but I'm not sure the defense is as good.

Ensworth is an unknown, at least to some extent. They have put a ton of points on the board and they are very talented. Key may be for McCallie to have long sustained drives to keep the ball away from the Ensworth offense and to possibly wear down the E defense. I assume depth is still a problem at Ensworth.

Ought to be a real test for both teams.

i do think ensworth is struggling on depth so that means a bunch more are probably playing both ways...

ensworth cant overlook mccallie to mba but im hoping that wont be a problem for them....

McCallie has proven to be very tough. much better than their record.

im waiting for this strong matchup

  14. ensworth: 34

    McCallie : 24

Ensworth will play up to their potential with a few mistakes. Injuries are hurting them bad right now....Ensworth needs to contain their QB and number 17 (Vanderbilt sign)

If McCallie can stop both number 3 and 10 for Ensworth than they might be set but i dont see anybody doing that anytime soon. Plus enworth's line is pretty stout.

    Good luck to both

  15. They have the same long snapper they had last year, I don't remember any problems last year. The fumbles are a problem that need to be fixed. Part of the problem is that it has been a different player in every game. They fix one and then another one fumbles. Hopefully the fumbles are now out of their system. The penalties are as much a result of aggressive play. I thought the Hillsboro game was poorly officiated and it hurt both teams. William Tanner was called for a late hit that caused a loss of down as well. The coaches said that William was playing the way they coached him to play, the official thought it was late but the coaches thought it was fine. We had a TD called back because a wide receiver covered up the tight end. They will fix that.

The Hillsboro game had kind of a wierd ebb and flow. The INT in the first drive really hurt us. The blocked field goal in a perverse way hurt us too. Hillsboro drove the ball well to get into positon to try that field goal, we blocked it and returned it for a TD, then had to kick the ball right back to them. Our defense didn't get a breather and the offense was kept on the sideline. We forced a punt but got the ball deep in our own end and fumbled on third down giving Hillsboro the ball deep in our end. Our coaches insist that they charted 4 time outs in the 1st half for Hillsboro, the last one being right before the play they scored on. If that was the 4th time out and they hadn't gotten it there is a good chance time would have run out before they could have scored. After half time we kicked off to them. So in the span of about 45 minutes I guess in real time our offense ran 3 plays. When they came back in the 2nd half they were out of sinc and couldn't keep the defense off the field.

Sometimes games move in strange ways.

hahah i actually watched that. Tanner tried to block number 6 of hillsburo and ended up getting drilled in the mouth and pretty much knocked on his butt so i think he felt a little embarrassed and took his anger out on number 6, five seconds after the play was over haha. But i have to give tanner credit for running a superb stop and go to give MBA a key TD. i love seeing those two teams go at it.

good luck to the BIG RED vs JP2....should be a good game unless MBA fixes their small problems

  16. MBA is certainly capable of scoring 34 points, but they will have to improve to do it. They could have been up 28-0 in the 1st half at Hillsboro except for turnovers and penalties. I'm not sure I want to be the team on the receiving end of it when MBA puts it all together, but to this point they really haven't.

come on be logical. MBA could have and i think should have lost that game. MBA has a stout D but there Offence seems to be pretty poor. They had one TD and scored off a blocked FG. not saying to much about their O. Hillsburo beat themselves esspecially with injuries ( crutcher and corey jordan)

  17. i think if Crutcher of hillburo plays, HHS this soundly. Him and Eric gordan are 2 of the best players in the state. I dont think MBA has any answer for the burro speed cause MBA has not exactly been know as a fast team just big...Plus what was up with MBA beating Baylor only 14-3. Not exactly a good sign going into HHS game. I see HHS pulling this game out by more than 1 TD. This is MBA's first test this year, it will be neat to see how it comes. And again if Crutcher is healed from his high ankle sprain and plays at least at 85-90% they have this game in the bag.

good luck both teams. I cant want to see this game, ill be there

  18. tiger let them play in that division where a championship is one with what 8 teams -it is meaningless

except there are 3 teams in those 8 that could beat any 5a 4a school around. BA, MBA and EHS. those three teams in the so called meaningless division are all in the top 5 teams of this state. So i dont see how winning that would be meaningless.

    thanks!

  19. Why did you feel the need to name him? We all knew who he was. I am glad that you finally admitted it. It's funny that they go to football camps to find kids that need a better education. Why not go to spelling bees and poetry readings and essay contest? Oh, that's right, those kids won't win you football games. I hope he does well for his sake. I hope he hasn't been screwed out of a year of football because of the greed of adults.

because kids like that are already at a school like ensworth or Ba or MBA or HH or SCA.... they still do try to get those kids if their not. You just dont hear about ti because there is no such thing as a coach T for the band squad or essay team. All private schools try as hard as they can to bring in smart kids because that makes their school and their test scores look alot better. If they didnt try to get those kids, they wouldnt be on the map at all
