I believe it's without question that Grace and Greenback are two of the best teams this side of Nashville this year.
Grace--yes--track record to prove it.
Greenback??--Pump the brakes--Very talented.......But have only advanced to play-offs once in 10 years. Even then, they were knocked out in first round of Region. They need to do way more than that to say they are one of the best teams in the Eastern side of the state. Gotta show up in May.......Scrimmages in March don't mean a thing.

Open job was posted to TSSAA.
-
Top 4 in 3A would cake walk through that Mickey Mouse District.
Coalfield only won 2 games against opponents outside their district(Northview Academy)
Strike Out 13 or 14???.......Come on now..........Time to leave the Morgan County bubble and experience real baseball.
-
NOBODY from District 4A will advance anywhere this year.
Number 3 or 4 seed in 3A could easily go undefeated in District 4A.
Grace can go ahead and book rooms at the Boro.
Meigs County will prolly have to go on the road to Unaka next Friday for a shot at making a trip.
Trust me......District 4 teams will not be a factor this post season.

GB beat Rockwood 3-2 in a nail biter. Great game with both teams battling to the end. Key timely hits by upperclassmen in 6th followed by great at bats and base running by some Freshmen put GB over the top in the 7th. Walk off steal home to seal the deal. Meigs vs GB could be a dandy tomorrow!
Not a walk off steal when the RW catcher threw it into LF

If GB wins today then they will play the winners bracket winner correct?? Double elimination.
No. Winners Bracket winner gets a bye to the District Championship game.
Winner of GB/Rockwood will face the loser of Meigs/Grace in a losers bracket final tomorrow,
-
Greenback lost to Meigs yesterday 3-2. They were down 3-0 from the 1st inning on......Then capitalized on a Meigs error and a key hit to mount a comeback in the 7th. But just came up short.
Rockwood got drilled by Grace 15-2. Played bad. Threw young kids. Saved better arms for today.
Today is scheduled as Rockwood v. Greenback 5:30--Losers Bracket
Meigs v. Grace 7:30--Winners Bracket Final

I would also like to add the fact that they have been competive in basketball and baseball the past few years but still come up short in football. Are the same kids playing football, or are they not sharing athletes well???
I realize that the two other sports do not always translate to success on the football field, but there is sometimes a correlation.

I have no dog in this fight since I'm an Oak Ridge fan, but know matter what, to see grown mean get on here and belittle two high school kids is really shameful. Be supportive of the kids that stayed and move on.
Even if Grace did recruit and offer them something, who can blame them for accepting, but the bottom line is most parents would do the same thing if they had the opportunity. I've seen those kids play and both have played hard for Rockwood from little league to high school. The truth of the matter is that they both are good players and none of you all would be whinning about it if they weren't. Rockwood has a good program and will be alright. If it bothers the kids left on the team, work hard in the off-season, summer, and in practice and beat Grace when you play them. That would be all the talking that needs to be done. After the game congratulate them for playing hard and move on.
As for the transfers this is not a new thing, it happens every year both in public and private schools. It only seems to be problem when it comes to someone moving from a public school to a private school. Until the TSSAA changes the rules there is nothing we can do about it.
Back to Roane County Football. I don't know much but I would like to say, I'm glad to see Panky get his opportunity at Kingston. He should bring a lot of excitment to the fans and players.
fury:
It goes a little deeper than that. I'm not sure you understand all the parameters of the situation. But then again most outsiders don't.

BB - Lebanon High School (Lebanon, TN) is looking for a Head Baseball Coach. Possible teaching positions are Chemistry, Special Education, English, Culinary Arts, Health Science, and Librarian. Please send a resume to Athletic Director, Darian Brown at brownd@wcschools.com . (05/30/2013)
Kind of limiting themselves right off the bat. Not many baseball guys with chemistry, culinary arts, or library certifications???

any thoughts on who will want it
My thoughts exactly. The guy that takes this job better be careful. Fired a great guy 3 years ago. Not sure about the most recent coach, but talent pool is thin, and they are moving to AAA next year. Good luck getting a guy with proven success to stick his neck out for that.

So how do the CAK folks feel about Coach McKamey(GCA Head Coach) being on the Stone Memorial sideline???
-
Rockwood will have to play similar to last Thursday in order to win.....minus the turnovers. Pound the ball inside, and control the clock.
On Defense, have to keep Brody Roberts in check......as they did with the McKamey kid last week.
Stop Roberts, and I believe you stop Kingston. Kingston has yet to play a team with a pulse, so maybe if RW can punch em in the mouth, they might make some mistakes.
Too early to make a prediction.

They are reporting 301 students on their website for this past school year. With the multiplier, that puts them at 542. This number should be more considering they have gained students every year since opening.............but then when you consider the source, who knows?
This number should get them into AA in all sports, possibly AAA in football......depending on where the numbers fall.
Going by their past reputation:
Will they report actual enrollment???
Or will they fudge the numbers to make sure they stay where they're at??
If they don't move up.............TSSAA should open an investigation immediately!!!

Roane County jamboree will give you a chance to see:

Commanderman, you are probably one of the most stuck up pieces of crap on Coacht. What in the world makes you think that Eagleville or WHH for that matter can't win the state? What makes Friendship so great? I have seen Eagleville and Friendship both play this year, and neither one is head over heels better than the other. They are both very good A baseball teams. All it takes is one hot streak at the right time and anyone can win this thing.
:popcorneater:

Good kid, A student in the classroom, freshman of the year in Rockwood's district last year and the program doesn't need someone like that ? maybe you could use a few MORE kids smokin dope or getting in trouble at school or doing just enough in the classroom to stay on the team or maybe it's DUIs you want ? Don't get on here and write something that makes you look like a ... well, let's just say "not so smart" just because one of your best players and his family want more than what the PROGRAM has to offer
If kids wanna go. Let em go. RW will be fine without him. Newsflash, every program in America has kids that make bad decisions. What exactly did the program not offer this kid???
Sounds to me like he won't be happy wherever he ends up.
Just for giggles.........Let's play the "What if?" game for a minute:
What if things don't work out at the next school for whatever reason???
Then the player and his family will be at their 3rd school in 3 years. Starts to look like maybe "THEY'RE" the problem instead of everyone else.
Do they really think it's going to be beneficial for the "freshman of the year" to sit out an entire year of football???
-
I know this is a football topic, but I thought the Baseball Coach did a good job with what he had. Very nice guy, not sure what kind of a teacher he was.
I find it hard to believe there will be people banging down the door to coach baseball at GB. The kids always played hard. Facility needs a TON of work, gonna be tough to find somebody. Not to mention, I believe he was an alumni as well.
Just sad you have people from that community coming back to their Alma mater and trying to make a difference, and they are told they are not wanted.
Hope the new principal knows what she is doing!!

Never questioned their talent. Very talented. But we all know in that district at least 1 probably 2 teams will not make the playoffs that could be at the top of district 4. With the new pitch count rules....district tournaments will be very tricky to advance through playing that many games in that many days.
Often in baseball, it's not always the most talented teams that advance. It is about whoever gets hot at the right time. In 3A that could be several teams. 1 very good team and 1 pretty solid team are gonna be left without a chair when the music stops. Both of which could compete very well with whomever advances from 4A
