  1. To the players and parents of WB Football: be open-minded when Coach Gregory begins inserting his offense. There will be no "One Shining Star" on the field. No "One Man" will be responsible to making the big play. Instead, be ready to see up to four or five different individuals have a 100+ yard rushing or receiving performance on any given night. Expect to see a defense flowing one direction while the ball goes the complete opposite. As Doc stated before, this offense has very simple rules for everyone on the field (especially the linemen) to follow. There are clear cut rules in this offense, and it completely takes the "Guess Work" of the coaches' and players' hands. That's the beauty of the option game. Gregory's terminology is developed in way that helps eliminate confusion in the huddle and at the line of scrimmage. The key to WB's level of success this coming year will be how quickly the boys buy into Coach Gregory's system. Forget the huge individual numbers and the personal highlights. This is truly a system that requires TEAM execution. When eleven men are on the same page and execute, this offense is a thing of beauty. Like a finely tuned machine!!!
  2. Well put DAVE. I couldn't have said it better myself. Coach Gregory will serve as a great leader and role model for the young men at William Blount. He will also be a great mentor and teacher to the coaches he works with. I know that he and his family will be glad to be back in east Tennessee. I just hope that the fans of WB football are not expecting to see the football thrown around the field and huge numbers being put on the score board. Coach Gregory's double wing offense will be very ball control-oriented and he will have his boys out-work and out-execute each team they play. Congratulations to Coach Gregory! There is no one who works as hard as this man, nor is there anyone that I would rather see have another chance as a head football coach. Good luck Coach and WB Governors.
  3. I hope William Blount is able to make the right decision. Coach Gregory would be a wonderful asset to the football program and the faculty. You can't have much more success than he has in the past. He was able to win a state title in Mississippi in the largest classification. There is no doubt in my mind that he would have the Governors able to compete with Maryville (again) within a few short years. Good luck to Coach Gregory. Hope you are given an opportunity to prove to those in Blount County (and Monroe County) that you are a very capable high school coach!
  4. How did those boys do overall at the Tusculum combine? Did they get any info on playing in college?
  5. I hope all the boys get a chance to play at the next level if they desire. Please let me know if there is any way I can help these boys make connections (especially up North). Good luck boys. Coach Sanders
  6. I know there were quite a few seniors on SQHS's team this year. Are any of them looking to play at the next level? How about graduating seniors from Tellico and Sweetwater? Any looks for them?
