  1. That with CPA winning state in baseball and soccer today the only major men's sports team that didn't win a state championship is basketball. It's almost like bringing in players from out of state messes w the chemistry. I'm glad that Ingle Martin has stayed true to the players he has and he's done a amazing job w this team and I think the whole CPA community is more proud about the football program than the basketball program because the football program keep its integrity

  2. Not All the college coaches at the Titian event agreed with you sir. There were several colleges at the NEXT LEVEL EXPOSURE CAMP.  There will be several more at the NPA EXPOSURE CAMP Sunday at TSU.  I personally have had a lot of success and networking at different exposure camps. I have 5 college graduates this spring FULL RIDES due to EXPOSE CAMPS.  Not All are camps are the same.  Not all high coaches have relationships with the college scouts for their area.  So when a coach sends film without any contacts at the college it is not a priority.  But a high school coach that has a network of people like a Pearl Cohn Coach Tony Brunetti, Memphis White Haven Rodney Saulsberry, and New Stratford Coach & Legend Fitzgerald.  Colleges send scouts to see for themselves at event like these to find the next gems.

What 5 full rides schools are they?  I would be concerned about schools that just use exposure camps.  They are either lazy or not very good at recruiting.  Coach recommendation and film have always been and will always be the key.

NPA is different it is not just an exposure camp they have clinics or camps all through the spring and have networks developed because of who runs it but it is not the typical, but I stand by my previous posts.

  3. I know its hard to see from the outside looking in.  Its even harder to recognize people (coaches) that you don't know. Several colleges that were there are looking for talent in the Middle Tennessee Area. They were pleased to see some NEXT LEVEL TALENT!   I know that there are a good amount of coaches like yourself which are not required to do anything after the season to get your players scholarships.

My helping get kids scholarships are not money makers, not that is all this one was, because there were some small college coaches at this one,  but there are many that are.  I spoke to college coaches at the Titans recruiting fair and all of them told me the same thing most of there are money makers and they don;t pay any attention to these exposure camps.  " if you want me to recruit your players call me and send me a highlight tape" and that is what I have been doing for years and I have a lot of kids playing in college.

  4. I was also present at the recruiting fair hosted by the Titians. I personally know that the colleges that are allowed by NCAA to attend these camps & combine use them as a recruiting tool.  On a fix recruiting budget, they are allow to view more talent at one location.  The NFL has their combine where its invitation only, but each NFL team sends scouts to a colleges Pro Day to view talent in person. I have been present at several camps & combines over the years. I have witness several college send their scouts to find talent at these camps.  I have several student athletes that were offered FULL RIDES to D1 Colleges due to the exposure from these camps & combines. This past winter I watched a last chance combine hosted by Gallatin High several colleges were present.

Any Player interested in competition and getting seen by college coaches.

Any Coach or Parent wanting their student athlete to gain Exposure.

Mt. Juliet Christian is hosting a camp/combine May 9th.

NPA is hosting a camp/combine on May 24th.

Yes the Gallatin combine camp is for small colleges NAIA and DIII and FREE that is different than kids paying for "exposure"  IF you read my post it simply said beware SOME are scams.

  5. My opinion is they are a waste of your money. If you really want to get your kids name out there, make a highlight disc and send it out to the colleges your kid is interested in. I'm not really sure how many actual college coaches and scouts are at these events, I prefer to send a kid to the camps ran by the universities. Just remember, anytime you're paying someone, they're going to tell you that your kid is great.JMO

Agreed, all the college coaches at the recruiting fair put on by the Titans last week said the same thing and that they don't pay any attention to the stuff they get from them.

  6. Mid TN is being bombarded with exposure camps promising college coaches and recruiting exposure. According to several coaches at the recruiting fair in Nashville yesterday these are just money makers for who ever sponsors them. College coaches rarely attend or get information from them. You want recruited make a high light tape and send it the colleges you want to play for and have your HS coach call them this will be much more effective than running the standard drills for so called scouts. Good Luck.

  7. The guy who East Robertson should call is former Creek Wood coach Chuck Daniel. He has the experience and knows how to get the most out of kids.

CD is not going to take a bad job for less money.  Most people won't either.  Chat might be a good guy but he did not help the last guy at all and with the exodus going on ER with have a hard time recovering regardless of who gets the job.

  8. I agree with the TSSAA's decision to suspend the teams and coaches, but I can't help but to point out the hypocrisy that the TSSAA continues to display.

They said it was a 'mockery' of the game and I agree, but how do the same people who call it a mockery continue to make a mockery out of high school sports by only taking care of the state's football programs?

Football is evaluated every few years and they re-classify, re-district, etc. but nothing is ever done about the other sports.  If it's fair to re-district football because of the size of schools, then how it is not fair to treat all sports the same?

Schools competing with other schools with twice the enrollment is unfair whether the sport is football, baseball, basketball, volleyball, etc.  The TSSAA continues to show their favoritism and hypocrisy and shame on them for it.

    AMEN.

  9. Watched GP the other night in basketball for the first time this season.  Apparently all isn't dead at GP in regards to getting athletes.  The new player they got this season in basketball is a "STUD" and here they are getting some in football also.  Heard several JPII kids are coming.

2 thoughts -so what if kids are coming over,  JPII was terrible, PS good hire.

Are kids really transferring to an 0-10 program at the penalty of losing a year of eligibility, doubtful.

  10. One is no better than the other.  Pulling back, playing JV players that normally don't play, not trying your best, is every bit as deceitful and makes the game a travesty.  Flip a freakin coin if you're going to do that and decide seeding that way.

The better solution is a single elimination tournament and the top 2 seeds move on.  Do away with the substate and have a 4 team super regional that is single elimination.  Move on to state, draw out of a hat and have a single elimination tournament.  Easy.  This is not rocket science.  The post season is extended to include half the dang schools in the state for the gate money that TSSAA will get.  It's a fundraiser.

Works in every other state, but doesn't make as much money - T$$AA. Totally $elfish & $tupid Athletic Assoc.

  11. Integrity?

They played the game the way it was set up.

A flawed system made their best option an undesirable one.

It does not get more real world than that.

If we are going to get along in the adult world, we are going to have to do things that we find distasteful sometimes. That is how life is.

They did not try to injure someone, they did not take PED's,  they did not pay off officials, they did not lie, they did not do any manner of things that I would consider lacking integrity.

They simply played to get to the state tournament, by the rules that exist.

They did what teams do every year. It is a bad system.

Every year, lots of coaches schedule games they are certain to lose. They play bigger schools, in higher classifications. They play powerful teams where they will be hopelessly outmanned. They do this because playing stronger opponents will make them better. They do it because it will give them a better chance to reach the state tournament. Does this lack integrity? They are losing on purpose, in order to reach the state.

I listened to a TSSAA official on 104.5 state that this is something that rarely happens. From his position, if he does not know that it happens every year, he would have to be blind. He had to know that what he was saying was an outright lie. He was defending his employer. Is that integrity?

We are not talking about the T$$AA's integrity we all know they have none because they are about money and not kids, but we are talking about the coaches and players that intentionally threw a tournament game.  You clearly have little integrity as well as you continue to defend the wrong thing.

  12. Yes, I do equate them. At the end of the day, I answer to myself first, for what is in my heart. What other people suspect, or whether they can prove it or not, is immaterial. If that makes me a fool, so be it.

I have not been in that situation, but I will tell you that I believe that I would try not to win, if my team would benefit from a loss. But, I have learned the hard way, that what I believe I would do in a situation is sometimes very different from what I do, if I am actually in that situation. Trying to lose would be agony, because I am competitive by nature. I hope I never have to find out.

Then you have no integrity just like these two coaches who should be fired and if you pulled this you should be too.

  13. Up for a vote:

"a. Proposed Addition to Article I, Section 8 (Responsibility of the Principal) of the TSSAA Bylaws:

Section 8: Member schools are responsible for the conduct of the coaches. Public criticism of game officials by administrators or coaches will result in a fine of $500.00 assessed to the school. Other non-monetary penalties may be assessed by the Executive Director based on the facts."

I guess they will decide what criticism is. If a coach is asked what happened at an unreported-on game the previous week, and the coach answers (for example) they scored on the last play on a pass where we felt the receiver pushed off and it's on video, is that subject to $500?

Not sure I would want to work for a principal that would turn me in for a $500 for being honest about bad officiating.  Now going on the radio or TV and blasting officials could be a different story.

"a. Proposed Addition to Article I, Section 8a (Responsibility of the Principal and AD) of the TSSAA Bylaws:

Officials shall be paid after the game providing they demonstrate knowledge of the rules and fair application to both teams.  Failure to do so will result in non- payment.
