  4. This list appeared in today's Tennessean: STAY IN DIVISION I Christ Presbyterian Academy Clarksville Academy Columbia Academy David Lipscomb Friendship Goodpasture Middle Tennessee Christian Nashville Christian MOVE TO DIVISION II Donelson Christian Academy Franklin Road Academy Zion Christian UNDECIDED ??? Ezell-Harding: board of directors meets later in week ??? Mt. 5. The Tennessean had the following list on there website: STAY IN DIVISION I Christ Presbyterian Academy Clarksville Academy Columbia Academy David Lipscomb Friendship Goodpasture Middle Tennessee Christian Nashville Christian MOVE TO DIVISION II Donelson Christian Academy Franklin Road Academy Zion Christian UNDECIDED ??? Ezell-Harding: board of directors meets later in week ??? Mt. Juliet Christian: board of directors meets Thursday
  6. They would prefer not to be playing them. They would like to play the Davidson's of the world. They want to play schools of similar size, the TSSAA just want let them do it.
  7. It is not a fuss about the multiplier. While we haven't liked it for the last 4 years, the z-plan was the final straw. It puts some of the schools into districts with teams 3 times their size. Just a prediction but if Friendship, Boyd-Buchanan, or even Ezel should start to win alot of football championships, look for the multiplier to be increased in 4 years to get them out of 2A into 3A. Alcoa can continuew to beat Goodpasture and CPA in 3A to keep them from winning the championship there.
  8. Play them one game at a time. Win the game this Friday night first. Also need to avoid more injuries and maybe get a few guys back. By my count if you include special teams you DCA will have at least 5 freshman see playing time on Friday night. You are 1 or 2 injuries away form several freshman and sophmores playing alot of minutes.
  9. You are going to get your way with the multiplier and the z-plan. You are making it impossible for the privates who don't recruit and give aide to compete. You must have relatives over in Trousdale County who got all of this multiplier stuff started anyway. If you can't beat them, get rid of them.
  10. DCA sent word out yesterday and it is in today's Tennessean that they along with Franklin Road (FRA) and Zion are going DII.
  11. Baldcoach you are not the only one in that boat. Look at DCA whose enrollment is very similar to yours (DCA 291 Boyd at 278). The early projections I saw had them both playing AA. In AA you would be a 3A school with numerous district games against 4A schools with 3 times your enrollment. Your district lloke dlike this: (4A) Brainerd, Chattanooga Central, East Ridge, Hixson, Notre Dame. (3A) Boyd Buchanan, Howard, Tyner. I don't like DII and the financial aid situation but DCA chose to move to play schools of similar size. FRA who would have stayed 2A just announced they were moving as well. Join the party.
  12. Powersweep see post above yours. It is in today's Tennessean that FRA and Zion are going DII. At this point there are alot of rumors but with the deadliine to apply being Friday lets try to deal in fact to keep us all sane.
  13. Accoriding to today's Tennessean, FRA and Zion Christian have decided to go DII as well.
  14. DCA just announced to its parents that it was moving to DII. How many more to follow?
  15. DCA just sent word to all of its parents that they have decided to go DII. Who else is for sure moving to DII?
  16. Has anyone taken out the current DII schools, mulitplied the privates by 1.8 to see the cut offs for 1A, 2A, 3A, and 4A. Of course it could all change depending on where some of the lines are with more DI schools electing to go DII. Really interested to see where the midstate privates are headed.
  17. The team who makes the fewest mistakes and doesn't run out of gas in the 4th quarter wins. Winner still alive for playoffs, looser is probably done.
  18. Advisor, why don't you get a clue. Go back and look at who the individuals behind the multiplier. One of the major "pushers" was Satterfield in Trousdale County. He was tired of having to play a DCA, CPA, FRA, or Ezell early in the playoff every year. None of these schools jumped to DII when hit with the multiplier. They have been competing against schools 2 times there size for four years sometimes with more success than others. These teams usually did well until hitting the Alcoa's of the world. It was not until the Z-plan was proposed that several of these schools looked at going DII. It is hard to compete week in and week out when you have several games on your schedule with schools 3 times your size.
  19. Advisor get your facts straight. Trojan fan said it well. Its about playing rosters of 60 to 70 and the 280 pound guys against the 200 pound guys every week. That is not safe for the kids. The schools have competed in 2A after the multiplier went in. Many of those same schools will have to move to 3A in districts with 4A schools under the Z plan. Your schedule will be set with 3 to 5 games against schools with more than triple your enrollment hence the move to DII A where you can compete.
  20. Don't blame the schools for going DII. I hate the split but the small DII schools are just looking for a place to compete. You put in the multiplier that bumped their classification. Now you put in the Z-Plan which will take several of them to 3A in districts with 4A schools in the new 3 division spliting into 6 for the playoffs. A private school with 275 enrollment gets bumped into playing against schools with over 500 kids due to the multiplier. Now they will have district games with schools with over 900 under the Z-plan. At some point not only is it not fair but their are safety concerns for the kids. In the West Tennessee area I heard Fayette Academy is also considering the move. In the Middle Tennessee area you have DCA and FRA (even though it looks like FRA might stay 2A instead of 3A) seriously considering the move and maybe CPA but who knows about them. Ezell will be 2A and not 3A under the z-Plan so they will probably stay. The same holds true for Friendship. Mt. Juliet Christian is also considering the move but as they can stay 1A the chances of them moving are small.
  21. You can forget TSSAA and form an independent association making your own rules. Who is too say that inside this new Division II organization you don't split out the financial aid versus non financial aid schools? You can make the "divisons" fair for everyone and quit giving TSSAA money for representing you so wonderfully.
  22. Thank you for clarifying what I had said PBandJ. You hit it dead center. Just to give you an idea how big those schools are that would now be in the same district. The proposed District 9 AA would have 3 3A schools DCA -286, Goodpasture -360, and Westmorland - 507. The old 1.8 multiplier gets us up to Westmorland size schools. The 4 4A schools under the Z plan would be Greenbrier -821, Whitehouse - 827, Sycamour - 865, and Springfield - 977. You can find similar stories in other districts for other small private schools. In a span of 4 years you now have schools who were 1A playing almost half of their games against schools with 3.5 times the student count. I say forget TSSAA. Why give them the money for this type of "service". Pull out and form your own organization.
  23. Tonights game has the potential to be a great game. Friendship has an excellent team and DCA is in a rebuilding year. Who wins?. The team that plays the best on that given night. It always makes it interesting when the kids now each others from the years in rec ball. Now for all of the other junk going on here. Yes Friendship uses non school members on their 5th and 6th grade football team. Matter of fact this year the leading scorer is not a school member. It is funny how the kids you add are usually your better players not the ones on the bench. DCA tried it one year adding 2 kids before saying no to non school members. If you pay $7,000 a year in tution then your kid might deserve some playing time instead of that time going to a kid not enrolled at the school. Now for recruiting, please quit beating that dead horse. So many of the kids at the more established schools have been there since kindergarten. Why do the privates (at your legitimate non-recruiting private) sometimes seem to win more? It is not recruiting but kids that have been well coached and a desire to play hard representing thier school. Look at the rosters of the schools. The biggest and fastest team does not always win but the team thats plays hard together with sound fundamental football is often victorious. The same tradition and coaching that carries some of your privates to the top is also present in some of your well established public school programs.
  24. Any idea when schools must delare if they are going Div II for next year?
