  1. Was thinking the same thing. They must have their guy just waiting to make it official?
  2. Might be what they need. DD can and knows how to get the best out of the kids that want to be there and put the effort in. I'm definitely interested in this. Any word on when they thinking about hiring someone like a deadline. I know crappy time for a coach to retire when spring ball should be getting started.
  3. Interesting for sure I will wait and believe it when I hear an official announcement. But I was hearing and I thought he was going to East Hamilton to be the DC. Don't get me wrong I actually hope you're right be hard seeing him in Central colors but I really wish DD well and will always support him.
  4. Do you know something the rest of us don't? I haven't even heard if he has interviewed for the job. Just seen on here where someone said he might have.
  5. I hear you there. If y'all do get Davis he will change that program I promise that. And the talent that isn't playing will want to come out. I can't tell you enough how great of a coach he is and even better man. He will prepare those kids for after school as well. Like I said earlier I was a freshman his first year and he demands discipline, hard work, dedication, teamwork, accountability , and he's cares about the kids he is coaching. I hope y'all give him a hard look for sure. Definitely be hard seeing him there but I know he would do great and the school will benefit having him leading the program. Known the man and his family for 19 years and he holds a special place in my heart been there for both my parents passing and was part of molding me into the man I've become. To be honest I hope he gets it and gets the support of the administration. With the talent that's there Central can make some noise granted it would take a a year or two but give him time Central be hard to handle. I'll be keeping a eye on this thread for sure.
  6. Coming from a former Polk player ( I was a freshman DD first year) and huge supporter of Davis heck after I graduated I ran the chains every year till present. If y'all do get Davis I will say y'all are getting a great coach and man. I'm bitter how the higher ups did some things. Hated seeing DD leave but don't blame him at all. Granted it will be hard seeing him in baby blue lol. I know I rambled on but I wouldn't fault Davis taking the job at all. Give him 2 or 3 years and Central will be tough and a good team. Especially with the talent that's there he can get the ones that ain't coming out to play out there to play
  7. Just saying a soccer field is supposed to be level and the football field is not. The football field is crown and I could careless if they play on it. All I've diad is soccer isn't the reason he left and that we lost a great coach. And I'm always proud of any sport at Polk that does great and support them in the down years. But I can't stand anyone that will bash Coach Davis that man has done a lot for me and my family.
  8. Definitely not school won't pay anything and anyone from the outside won't want to deal with the dumpster fire of central office
  9. No clue but if I'm a betting man I bet they offer it to the OC Brewer and I say he takes it if they offer it to him.
  10. Agreed my little brother was the center for some of those teams. He was a senior the year we mercy ruled SP. I know it is what it is but if we was 2a then we would've had a gold ball his junior and senior year. I always go over and watch he championships and 2a those years wouldn't had a chance against them. But whoever gets Coach Davis is getting one heck of a ball coach and great man.
  11. If I and a teaching degree I would definitely be open to coaching the team. Definitely love the sport and love that school and program not just football but all the athletics there.
  12. Lol yep ole Roy is the only one that has that privilege.
  13. Not sure who that Culpepper guy is all I know is that he don't know anything about football and definitely don't know what it takes to run a program.
  14. Great point and I've done my part. Living in a small county it's hard. People are set in their ways and don't want to believe what's going on
  15. And not just losing Derrick but his dad Larry too. Larry is a special man to me also he was me PE teacher from Kindergarten through 8th grade then when I went to high school which was Derrick's first year he came there. So Larry will definitely be missed to. Known Larry pretty much my whole life and Derrick for 19 years of the 34 I've been here lol. Can't wait to see where Derrick ends up because we all know he won't be without a job long if not HC definitely a DC somewhere.
  16. And a soccer field supposed to be level and the football field is crowned. And them using the field is by no means the reason he resigned. But I agree with you the booster club as well parents did a lot for the football team. James Jones is the reason plain and simple and it's stupid that the director of schools doesn't get voted on by the county. Instead he does favors for his buddies that keep him in there. Man is dirty and I know a lot more but this isn't the place to voice that. I will definitely miss Coach Davis and our many talks in the field house before games and after. That man means a lot not just to me but a lot of former players. I hope whoever takes over does good but they won't find anyone that loved that program as much as Davis hands down.
  17. Yep had coaching duties being the Head coach. Many good coaches miss family events and their own kids playing. Heck my dad missed some of my games when I got older because he was coaching and I had younger siblings playing sports. But that's just unbelievable to bash a man that put his heart and soul into that program. Somewhere along the lines your feelings must've got hurt Murphy or you're in with the upper management that could care less about the athletics at that school.
  18. Definitely not financially stable to go after a big time coach. And I agree I think Brewer would take the job if offered and wish him well if he does take it.
  19. Glad someone said it. Soccer definitely wasn't the issue.
