  1. Are you referring to fans at the games or fans on this website?

Other than Cap1 and myself there were never that many Viking posters on here. Quite a few on here in 2004, but the loss to Maryville sent them running into the woods never to be heard from again.

So true. You and Cap have been real soldiers. I have only been to one game this year. Work out of town quiet a bit I was referring to coacht. Seems like just a couple of years ago, when THS had the talent to beat most teams and/or play with anybody, coach t was pretty active. What kind of support did the kids have at the games? I think the biggest disappointed was the loss to the Bearcats. I think that started the down hill slide. The fact of the matter is that VHS has always had just as many skill athletes and speed as any school in the area. They obviously found some bigger guys to block for these guys this year. In addition, I remember when VHS could beat ant team in the Tri Cities. So we had a questionable year!!! What is the mind set going into the off season work outs? Any rising stars?

  2. Jack off was a waterboy during one of those Mythical State Championships in the 20's.

Tell me more about the championships of the 20's. Oh.....perhaps I should ask jako. Seems he had the perfect and most refreshing view. Do you know what that thing is he is holding. Did he shrink Cap?

  3. Yes, i know. The punt return right in front of your face was returned by #6 Foreman. Thanks for the complimate in reference to Waco and it surely does not take more than one to put you in your place but we have fun double teaming you. Your so fun and so easy to get fired up. I like your passion even though your wrong about 99% of the time. The game has passed you by. Give up the ghost of the 70's. Roll Tribe!!!!!

Here you go jako. Here's the chosen one. The next coming of Einstein. He's smart enough to direct the band. Thump, thump.....

  4. Im thinking you might be a little lite in the loafers.

You're thinking??? Thats vertical progression. Nice to hear you have moved beyond the chest bumping. We will be pulling for you guys as you move forward representing Tri City football. Flute?? Come on man, answer the question. You seduced Cap into revealing his identity as a two sport schoolboy All American. What!s your game? I'm out my man. Double deuces!

  5. Now that the dust has settled, perhaps there is someone out there that is willing to talk football. THS will figure this thing out. They always have..... and I don't think the trend will change. I know all of the great football minds out there understand the time it take to implement a new offense. In addition to the time for adjustments and positioning of personnel. I see some good things happening in the near future for THS. Sorry, but I must go rear view for a second......can you imagine the possibilities if THS had the knowledge to implement this offense about three years ago when athletes and speed was abundant. I,m out. And as always......speed kills

  6. At least we have a chest large and muscular enough to beat....If the "Big 8" were more competitive ....we'd have more opportunities to prepare for the challenges of which you allude to. Per the TSSAA we can only play outside competition 3 times a year.

Ok.....so what instrument did you play my man?

  7. Fellers eye hope you'uns gits a good turnout and all.....Butt thay's onlee one "king" in Tinnersee rasslin'...."Tha King ov Kingsport"..."Tha #1 Hillbilly"...Tha grait Ron Wright.... :thumb:

Ronnie Garvin is the king of Southwest Va. And East Tennessee. What are you thinking my man.

  8. Wow.....well trespassing on school grounds will get you even though I think it is hilarious...but a little far fetched...

What the heck is going on, the two most vocal groups in the Big 8 and we are on page 1? Come on guys we are only into week 4, not time to hang it up yet!

Far fetched, hilarious???? Whatever the case may be. I would like to send out some kudos to the THS coaching staff for recognizing discipline issues. More so then that....setting firm policies and following through on the process. Sounds like the inmates have been placed back into their cells and doors locked. The inmates are no longer running the castle! Fewer athletes will expose coaching deficiencies. Sounds like a few more hours on the chalk board. The old saying....."when the going gets tough, the tough get going" plays a big role at this point. THS will find it easy to detect the imposters vs. The guys that really take pride in the tradition of the horns. Good luck tonight! I will not make it to the game tonight. I have a touch of cat scratch fever!!!! And as always............"SPEED KILLS"

  9. No... not a lecture, just tryin to refresh your memory of how your team has performed in the last several years because you must of forgot. That old saying you improve your program by playing the BEST is BS. If your team is not top terr caliber at the time all you do is put L's on your schedule, and when you have more L's on your schedule than W's... games are not the only thing your program loses. ;)

What,s up Cap. It,s been awhile my man. Got the opportunity to see the Jeff Co. Game. Come on man, one step up and two steps back. Same old story, same old line. What happened to all of your boys. Looks like they have betrayed you on here!! However, you pose a good fight. Checking out the Wisconsin game. What happened to the guy from south, the flag guys, Is he still in the mix. All I'm hearing is excuses my man. Looks like reality has set in. You, from a conference perspective, added a couple of average teams. You maintained your lollipop non conference games. Where do you go from here? You have a brand new shinny coach. Shinny as a penny. However, same old story same old line. What happened to that other coach. Hope to make it to at least one more. If you remember, I,m a hill topper now. No speed my man.. You cannot win big without speed!!!! Some guy was telling me THS had several guys at 4.4. AGAIN. Also that they had one guy that was sub 4.0. AGAIN. Poor tackling, fundamentally unsound. Coaches watching the game but not seeing it......same old story some old lines??????????

  10. GepToe why don’t you quit with the hateraid already and just go ahead and jump on the DB wagon… sellout.

"It is what it is" my man. I guess you could say i'm not a true sailor. Not going down with the sinking ship. When is uniform collection date? I might jump back on the THS wagon if at some point you guys learn how to line up and stay on sides. IF you can get your guys to do that....we can get a little closer to talking/playing some football. One baby step at a time. One baby step at a time. One little baby step at a time. One very Very little baby step at a time.....

  11. Funny comment by TN High Coach Greg Stubbs in the papers

“They’re a very athletic team,†said Tennessee High coach Greg Stubbs. “Very, very athletic. They’re probably as athletic as any team we’ve played.â€

What are you really trying say there coach? :popcorneater:

Funny...i wondered about that quote as well while reading the article. I think it's called dementia. Hense, he must have forgotten about Greenville, Kingsport, Boone....This is one of those things that make you go hummmmm!!

  12. Cap, West can fly, speed is one thing they do have. Their main back is fast but not the fastest one, the backup is faster and he will see more time this week. If you have inexperienced linebackers and safeties that don't like to come up and bring it, ya'll could be in trouble. West runs the mid-line veer to perfection, it's their bread and butter. But they do alot of other things well also, they will run some spread option type stuff, speed option as well. The Rebels starting twenty two are big, fast and athletic. If West could reach their full potential they could make a deep run. That's what they struggle with, they are kind of up and down, inconsistant week to week. One week a slow start, then a good second half. The next week a fast start and a sleep walk through the second half.

Good info it you are correct in the West offensive execution. With this being the case, West will have their starters on the bench by the end of the second quarter. There is two possible problems....THS has no understanding of how to stop the option. The secondary either does not retain their resonsibilities very well. Or the coaches do not coach them well. The FS has no clue to his responsibilities (run or pass). left corner still trying to figure out where he is suppost to be also. However rt corner seems to get it. Rt corner prototype Free safety (#10). This guy gets it!! THS offensive schemes have good intentions but too many missed blocks, responsibilities, and lack of speed. And how many times can you throw that little out route to the Downs kid. #26 seems would put some excitement in the offense. However, he is not given enough opportunities to tote the rock. Whats up with that? Seems they would do better drawing something up in the dirt almost like a sandlot game. I will refer to this process as adjustments. I know this sounds mean but it is what it is. I will say that The effort is there sometimes but the execution is not. Won't be there, no attachments to either team. Decided to view JC Maryville game. However, Good luck to both sides.

  13. If you follow recruiting long enough you finally understand how it works. There are not enough walk ons to run the scout teams. Some (partial) scholarship money has to be spent on filling in slots. Then there are (sometimes partial and sometimes full) scholarships for potential players. Potential being a 1 or a 2 star (I think 3 stars is the threshhold of excitement). Then of course there are the 5 Star recruits. There are surprises in all categories both positive and negative. Bryce Brown and David Oku come to mind. The two Bristol recruits have the correct diminsions for their respective positions to produce potential success. I would say some of the best athletes are the ones who "grow" into their positions when in high school they were not really stars.

Thats good stuff Comp. I'm just trying to figure out if I want to watch THS anymore this season or jump on the band wagon with a team that would be more interesting (better fundamentals and game planning) to watch. The secondary play at THS is so bad it's beyond repair. Also, I'm trying to figure out why all of them 4.4 40 players from THS have a hard time catching the 4.7 40 players. I noticed at the South game, when the THS band finished playing most of the THS supporters left. However, the south supporters hung in there until the end. Thats awesome support for that program. Also, the THS sideline looked like they gave up when the going got tough....coaches,players and fans. I'm looking forward to watching the guys at UT next season. Looking for some good things from some local boys. By the way,and while we are talking about recruits, what ever happened to the Sheppard kid who played at THS last year.

  14. West appears to be on a roll. I think they'll take this one.

    West 35 THS 14

Work has kept me out of town quiet a bit this season. However, i did make it to two THS games. Got to see Greenville and South games. Could not really get a pulse on the as i team watched those games. Is it a lack of coaching, talent, or just what? Speaking with a gentleman in the stands and he was giving me some team information. He spoke highly of the two D1 guys. I checked them out pretty close at the South game. Again, I could not get a good pulse on them either. Also he spoke to several guys that ran 4.4 40 times. If these guys run 4.4 40's I would like to know who is working the clock. If it is one of the coaches working the clock....I get it!! I would estimate the fastest running back at 4.7 and that's pushing it. More so then that. It's obvious that THS has no idea how to stop the option. I was watching the Greenville game and after the first couple of plays you could see the kids had no idea where to go or what to do on defense....What's going on between the walls of the castle?

  15. Were you at the game..NO!!...So you really don,t have a clue do ya ...NO!! Did we hurt your feelings :thumb: ..well to bad get over it!! It was what it was.. terrible officiating simple as that.

as far as '' THE BIG COVER UP"...the reason for the silence is NOBODY HAS A CLUE WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT :thumb: ..and especially you.

Sounds like maybe he has been smoking something stronger than tobacco and perhaps drinking something stronger than cool aid.

  16. That is a fact. So for you parents that have a skill athlete take note because scoop has just introduced you to the brick wall. Big coaches will take big numbers any day of the week. How many Walter Peytons are there in the NFL. He had football speed but not track speed. He went to JR. College. He was not a superstar in the stereotypical notion of the word. But most of us know what his notariety was. How many college coaches will take a 4.5/4.6 WR. Kaleb Kitzmiller was a 4.6 WR and he could catch any ball within diving distance and he had football speed. He couldn't buy a college scholarship. Taylor Fletcher ran a 4.5 on a good day. Some say he was a D1 RB. LSU and Troy invited him to walk on. The fact is that at the high school level superior skill will trump speed any day of the week. At the college level...everyone has skill...and everyone has speed. The playing field is leveled. Curt says that he can't just cut and run anymore because the corners are on him like stink. Jim Phillips told me long ago, "Just be happy to have a successful high school career. Let him have fun and enjoy this time. And accept the fact that not everyone can play college football. Keenan Shephard, Chris Sensabaugh, and Mitchell don't have football speed. At least not when I saw them. But they will put up the majic number...4.4. That will get them into D1. There is currently 1 (I think) white RB in the SEC...and very few nationwide in D1. They are common in D2. There are many reasons for this but regardless of what they are it won't change anytime soon.

Good Point. However I would not call it a brick wall. I would describe it as an arena for the gifted. I think a lot kids are mislead by their parents and coaches as to their athletic abilities. These kids are built up and told by the prior stated individuals that they are great athletes beginning in pop warner football. Most of ther time they are the bigger kids that have matured quicker then the other kids. With this being the case, they get to the next levels and this process continues. No fault of the kid!! I would blame it on to program or the Jr High and High School coaches that don't know how to find their way around the "chalk board" and/or recognize talent that is standing on the sidelines or walking the school hallways. Instead, the coaches continue to bank on the quickly matured kid that has been passed, as far as athletic abilities, by the kid that was once so skinny or short and fat that he was never given an opportunity. So I think, with this being the case, there is alot of misdirected anger by the parents and coaches that can't see the forrest because the trees keep getting the way. I once wrote a paper in college that was predicated on the precentage of kid's that play HS football vs. the number of kids that received major college scholarships. Also, the percentages of kids that extended their careers from college into the NFL. After much research, i found that the percentages were absolutely rediculious. Almost impossible to get a major college schlorship and even more rediculous were the percentages to proceed to the NFL. With this being said, the kids are built up and programed to the thought processes of their parents ans/or coaches instead of their own. Many times this process extends well beyond the normal logical thought process. And the kids, several years beyond, still believe they were robbed of that should have been. They have been programmed to chase a ghost!!! There is Nothing wrong with setting goals and/or following your dreams if you will, however, dreams/goals must be realistic and sometimes readjusted thus making them attainable. So, where of when does the madness end? Realistically, as a poster put it, a 4.3 gets you to Florida to be a football player. A 4.6 gets you to Charleston to be a football player/student. Finally, I need help understanding your final sentence. A stop watch does not display emotions nor does it have vision.
