  1. Well I thought the games went really good. The girls game was 85 to 75 in favor of Tennessee. Mariah Peitrowski of Elizabethon was huge .She had 25 points and 17 rebounds . Va. had no answer for her. Sara Wysor of Tennessee High had 4 three pointers I believe. The boys game was fun . Cameron Miller of Unicoi County was outstanding . He finished with 33 points and was our Tennessee MVP. Tihlee Anderson of Gate City was our Va. MVP. He had 22 points. We also had a slam dunk challenge . Lucas Shortridge of Twin Valley won this. He came in third place in the Arbys Classic slam dunk challenge. It was a lot of work to put this together. I am still quite exhausted. We also had a All-Star volleyball match that day before the basketball games. Next year we have been invited to do our games at Milligan College. Right now I am currently working on two more events. Battle of The Border between Va. and Ky. All-Star-basketball, and Va. versus Tennessee All-Star softball game, hopefully to be played at ETSU. I will keep everyone posted on these. Thanks.
  2. Hello everyone, Im new to the board here. Last year I put together a Battle of the Border All-Star game between KY and Va. senior boys and girls. It was a lot of fun, but also a lot of work. This year Im hoping to have a Va. versus Tennessee All-Star boys and girls senior game. The location has already been reserved. It is the University of Virginia of Wise. The date is April 18,Saturday. The Va boys roster is nearly complete as well as the girls. The players from Tennessee I hope to invite are Todd Halverson and Jordon Edwards of Dobyns Bennett. Koree Deeb ,Sullivan East. Corey Young, Tennessee High, Nick Jones ,Daniel Boone. Aaron Bennet ,Volunteer. Tyler Devault, Sullivan South. Eric Herring ,Sullivan North. If you can assist in helping me contact these players please do. On the girls side for Tennessee are... Danielle Montgomery ,Tennessee High, Cheyenne Thornsbury from Tenn.High. Mariah Petrowski, and Jasmine Jefferson ,Elizabethon. Laureen Murr ,David Crocket,Brittany Fields and Breann Sabo ,Sullivan Central. Laureen Latture and Makenzie Campbell ,Sullivan South. Again if you can assist me in reaching out to these players ,please do. My email is gmaggard@fca.org. Thanks so much /smile.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":)" border="0" alt="smile.gif" />
  3. Hey everyone, I am new to this board. Im asking for your input. I am a representative for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes here in Southwest Va. I am seeking to do a Battle of the Border All-Star Basketball Challenge between the senior boys and girls of Va versus those of Tennessee. I have the UVAWise College gym reserved on Saturday April 18. I nearly have our teams over here in Va. ready to play. Who would be some good Tennessee senior boys and girls from Tennessee who might be good to speak with about playing? These players could be those who are good ball players but have not been selected to play in elite all-star games. Thats the case here in Va. Only 2 people from our part of the state gets to play in these elite games. I started these events to honor seniors who are good players but do not get recognized. My email is gmaggard@fca.org. Thanks for any help you can offer.
  4. Clintwood beat Bath County in the state semi finals. They lost in the state game to undefeated Buffalo Gap 28-19.
  5. This years Clintwood team would whip your conference teams just like we did Volunteer. Volunteer is lucky they even got on the score board. We spotted them the first 2 points just to be nice .If we would have had an extra quarter we would have scored 3 more times. Our running game kicked in and wore the Falcons out. If it wasnt for Luke Cradic getting lucky converting some long 3rd down plays the score would have been much worse. As far as your thoughts on NET teams beating our good Va. teams thats your biased opinion. Gretna would beat any of your 4a schools in your district. That is no joke /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  6. Not being disrespectful but I disagree with a couple of things in your post. First, "Volunteer should have beat Clintwood last night''. Clintwood totally dominated Volunteers run game, Volunteer had a negative 10 yards rushing. How can you say you should have won with absolutly zero rushing?? Clintwood watched film of the Volunteer - Cocke County game and totally eliminated the reverses, the screen plays,etc.. You have to admit if you were at the game last night that Volunteer was on their heels most of the night. How many 3rd and long plays did Volunteer have to convert just to maintain possesion of the ball. Luke Cradic made some good passes I give him credit. In the second half Clintwoods running game kicked in. I believe we finished the game with close to 300 yards rushing. Chris Robinson himself had 188 yards and 3 tds. So based on these facts about negative 10 yards rushing versus 300 yards rushing, my assessment would be , Clintwood should have won this game. Lets also throw in a great special teams play in the blocked punt. The second thing I disagree with is "most teams in tennessee would destroy them". Would you say destroy is 30 point win ,40 point or more win. I dont think the teams Volunteer play would destroy Clintwood. They may beat us but not destroy us. You have to remember we only have 300 students in our school. How many students attend Volunteer? To be a 4A school in Tennesee ,how many students are enrolled in this class . Is there more than a thousand, just curious? I wish your guys a great remainder of the season. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  7. Many on this message board counted our guys defeated by Volunteer. I think someone said Volunteer 33 Clintwood 14. The score was 33 to 16 Clintwood. Had it not been for Volunteer getting lucking and converting several 3rd and 20 plays the score would have been 47 to 16. So in my opinion we would play well against any Sullivan team. As far as DB AND Alcoa beating Gretna 52 to 0,thats laughable. Thats stretching it, I would say. Its good to see your passion for your Tennessee teams though. I have the same passion for my school, Clintwood. We only have 300 students. The team we have this year is a group of seniors who have played togther since peanut league. They know its their final year so they are giving it their best to go all the way. Hey best of luck to your favorite team. Just curious what team do you pull for? Peace bro.
  8. No, honesty in all I wasnt joking. Sullivan East beat Volunteer by 14 ,we beat them by 17. The rest of the Sullivan teams are perhaps good but not great. Just curious though ,which of the four Sullivan teams are the best?
  9. It would be great to see the team that beat Gate city in the state championship 52 to 0 play a Northeast Tenn. team. You are likely correct in that Tennessee teams are better than SWVA. teams . The team that beat Gate City was Gretna. They are a 2A school and are very good. It would be great to see them play DB or Science Hill. I believe the Clintwood team who beat Volunteer last night could beat the Sullivan teams. The East. North, and South Sullivan teams. Dont know how they would play against a DB team. I know Volunteer clobbered us 42 to 0 last year ,but we were without our best player Chris Robinson who was out with a staph infection. I dont know if his playing would have won the game for us ,but it may had been a better game. Last night Chris rushed for 188 yards and 3 tds. Volunteer did play with a lot of heart, their run game was their weakness, passing wasnt too bad though.
  10. Great game between Volunteer and Clintwood last night. The game was tied 2 to 2, then 9 to 9, then 16 to 16, then finally the fourth quarter saw the game put away by Clintwood 33 to 16. Volunteer looked good in the passing department. They converted several long 3rd and long pass plays against Clintwood. Luke Cradic played very well. Clintwood absolutely dominated them defensively in their run game. I think the Falcons were a negative 10 yards in rushing. Clintwood is a very well coached team . The Greenwave got stronger in the 4th quarter running the ball over the Falcon defenders. I believe the Greenwave got nearly 300 yards on the ground rushing the ball. The fans of Clintwood provided a 12th man on the field last night as they cheered with great enthusiasm. Best of wishes to Volunteer in the remainder of their season. Clintwood plays Lebanon next Friday. Our goal is to make it back to the state championship game this year but their is much exciting football to be played. God bless all the coaches , adults and staff who work with our youth in VA. and Tenn.
