  1. considering our first round, this is a relatively easy second round game, but Oakland still needs to come to play a lot of good teams get beat cause they dont take the other team seriously i still think theyll pull away with ith a win though.

I do not think I would neccessarily consider this game "easy".

wel, we played one of the top teams in the state last week in a game that definitely shouldnt have been a first-rounder, maybe a second or third. and Blackman and Riverdale are two of the top teams in the state, there's no way that should be a second round game. of course no games in the state tournament are going to be "easy" because all the teams earned their way there, but Oakland did get off relatively easy in the scheduling this week. I cant wait til they redo the tournament format and we can actually be excited about the later games since more of the teams who should be there will be there.

  2. What are your thoughts folks?

All I have to say is, a few years ago, when the current juniors were freshman, Mount Juliet was the only team during their freshman football season that beat them by a large margin. This was the championship game, and i dont think that they've forgotten since this will be their first chance to get back at the team that humiliated them. I expect Tee Mayberry to put up huge numbers.

  3. Listen to this one bit of info...

The very first play, a hillsboro play went for the legs of Chris Jordan, who many know is one of the stars of our football team,

We had i believe 4-5 injured in this game, Hillsboro had none! Tell me you see something wrong with this,

    Hillsboro plays dirty!

Ya of course im a rebel fan,

I would still choose to cheer for Maryville, just bc of our tradition, i would take our 11+ gold balls, over yall 2 anyday!!!

Oh and whoever paid the refs, and the play clock keeper, i will find you! Much Love!!!

Hillsboro, from what i have seen from the fans walking outside of the stadium has no class, there were to half naked fat girls outside, that literally got in our face and said that we stunk and didn't even deserve to be there,

Maryville has had two losses since "01, Hillsboro had 2 this season alone!!!

Congrats to hillsboro on the dirty play!!! We Will See you There Next year!!! /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

Dude, just quit with the excuses and wait for next year, you know you'll probably be back.

  5. Championship game was between Franklin & Brentwood in round three. This game at MTSU is a mere formality for Franklin to play it out the rest of the way.

Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't know Franklin was that good. Last I checked Oakland earned their way into the state too and if you think it's a sure shot for

Franklin, you're in for a surprise.

  6. The semi-state finals. If you would've told me a year ago that Oakland was going to be here, I would've laughed in your face. Sure I was at the freshman games and saw Christian Adams playing beyond anybody's expectaions even then, I also saw Dre Frazier refusing to be brought down by ANYBODY. In fact I heard Coach Bartsch's motto was, "Dre all day." I was also there when Precious Valentine was plowing over anybody in his path and B.J. Nelson was juking people out of there socks, I mean, I played with these guys, but I still didn't see this coming. They have blown everybody's expectations right out of the water. But the scariest part is, I talked to some of the players today, and they said that they're actually practicing HARDER than they have been all year. Now don't fet me wrong, I'm not guarranteeing a victory, but if they've played as good as they have all year, (with the exception of Lebanon) and they're practicing harder now than they've been all year, grab the popcorn and just be thankful to be a part of one of the bes Oakland teams that has ever showed up.

  7. Oakland by 14? Ok we almost beat you guys I think you all got reallll lucky; it took 4 OTs to kill the Dawgs in the regular season. Imagine how long it'll take in the playoffs. Close game either way.

Oakland basically spotted Smyrna 4 points with their two safety's they gave up. If they play at the top of their game, I don't think this one will be as hard a win for them.

  8. Hard to really play the what if game, for all we know, had the defense fallen apart, the offense may still could have found a way to win, which has been the game by game mantra of this team, finding a way to win.

I hope last night answered any questions about the QB position and our ability to have a balanced offense. I hope Oakland looks to go to the air just as much for the rest of the season, as we showed last night that Oakland's receivers are very capable. I think part of the offensive woes is we just go to face facts, Schaller was not getting it done, most of his big plays have been with his legs. That said, Trevor's injury puts us in a sticky position, Henry didnt do too bad last night, but nowhere near the solid production Trevor has been able to give us year in and year out, I am still waiting to hear an explanation on how in the world they did not call a roughing the kicker last night, but I guess it shall just be in vain.

This is a matchup of 2 very solid all-around teams. In games like these, the team that shows the best execution of basic fundamentals helps. Probably one of the better games in 5A this week.

Oakland can't be all pass-happy now, but it is going to help having a more balnced attack. The pass first mentality worked last week because nobody saw it coming. Christian Adams has a great arm though. I'm looking forward to seeing him develop

  9. wilson central by far /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />

Wilson Central is a good team, but they're going to have to step up pretty much everything. Oakland may do good, but they'll have to rely on a team with 0 playoff experience.

  10. Truthfully, I think Oakland's D has always been its strength over the years that I have watched OHS ball. The difference this yr( that makes the D look even stouter) is that the O is doing their part to let the D have a blow during the game. Last yr's D was extremely good . They would hold the O , pull in an INT, or force a fumble....and then the O would turn it over on the very next play. That led to a lot of friction, disharmony, worn-out players, and losses. Had we just had a little bit of offense, I think we could have made the playoffs. This yr's team is much more balanced than the ones in the last few yrs. That leads to harmony and trust. The D can TRUST that the O will move the ball down the field and make their job easier. They can TRUST that when they force a turnover, the O will take advantage of it. I am not tryin g to insinuate that Coach White hasn't done an excellent job with the Defense b/c I think he has.

I agree, I think the differnence between this year's O and last year's O is the speedy O-line, and the stamina shown by everybody on the team. I was there for both Coach Ferg's agility practices and I watched some of Coach Mac's agilities. Coach Ferg would only halfway run the players and Coach Mac would run everyone until they puked

  11. Honestly, I want him at his best friday night. I want to see if Oakland can man up and stop what is probably the best running back in the region and one of the best in the state, along with hicks, they both make a formidable duo.

I also hope Bryson's in top shape, because if we can stop him at the top of his game, because, if we make it far into the state, we're going to need that kind of experience against running backs at that skill leve,l and higher.

Also don't forget that our defence does get good practice against Precious Valentine and B.J. Nelson. That may help them get prepared for Bryson, our d-line is UNSTOPPABLE though.

  12. I know this year we have a lot of supporters 4 the Oakland football team. I've been looking forward to a year like this since I was a freshman at Oakland. Now that the year has finally come I can't keep the news to myself. Oakland is 6-0 and has there first legitimate shot at a state championship in almost 8 years. I know some of you people in Chattanooga and Memphis and places like that don't know who Oakland is and don't care, but let me tell you now, you better watch out because the red wave is coming

  13. I wanna know about the sophomore classes this year. I know Oakland has some serious talent (Buddy Mitchell doesn't drop anything, Tee Mayberry is a hammer, and Dre Frazier just a physical specimen, benched 350 lbs. at the end of his freshmen year.) Siegel has a good class, I don't know about individual talent.

  14. Hmmm! Wondering if any Pat fans have puters in the Boro... ROFL..

Well Pat fans what do you think the out come of this game will be.. 2P you can stay quiet on this one lol.

I do believe we came in there and surprised you at your house last year. Is the some dejavu come in this one?

Been out of town for a few days thought this thread would get some Pat fans stirred up by now.

    Where you fans at?

CATS... Surprise me this Friday... Winning is easier if you go in prepared and motivated. PLAY HARD... /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

After all the accolades Oakland has been receiving latetly it's gonna come down to whether they have their heads in the clouds. If they come in expecting to win by forty points, then Clarksville's got a chance to come away with a win. If Oakland has their mindset straight, I think they can beat anyone in the state.

  15. good question!

Let's look at it Oakland has beaten 1 team easily (Lavergne); another team OK (FC) and then 3 tight games with River, CC, WC............they are in driver seat!

siegel and Oakland have had 2 common opponents River and WC..............both games about the same.................. tight.

So, to answer your question....................YES, it should be a good match-up!

    Rest of the story.............

First Region 4-5A is somewhat down this year; therefore there may not be a dime worth of diffrence between Oakland, siegel, Riverdale, WC, Smyrna, Lebanon and maybe even Blackman...........this thing could get a bit crazy before it is over. And the play-offs might even be crazier!

    good post!

I agree, while I want Oakland to blow out all of their opponents, I still get excited at the chance to witness a good game. I think the Oakland vs. Siegel game is gonna be what Oakland vs. Riverdale was hyped up to be. I can't wait.

  16. I do understand that freshmen do not get much exposure, but any talent in the '12 class worth talking about?

Oakland freshmen 0-5. Do we have anyhting to look forward to after 2011? They have decenet talent in lineman Chase Davenport and fullback Justin Barrett, but still not the most promising class ever.

  17. Who are the top 5 Coaches in the Region. Not necessarily this years record but the impact they have had on their team. Please don't name the 6th and 7th place coaches.

    1) McDaniel (Oakland) New coach has done wonders....would not be where they are without him.

    2) Adylott (Riverdale) Not as much talent as past years but still very steady

    3) Hester (LaVergne) Young team but would be much worse without him

    4) (Wilson Central) Winning when he should and maintaining the tempo from last year

    5) (siegel) Impressive start has to be recognized

I agreee that Mcdaniel is # 1, but Aydellott at #2. Every other coach has had the success that he hasn't seem to find yet. Seem to have everything else right though, Siegel should be higher.
