  1. Ok, here are Saturday's results from the TSSAA Brentwood Academy (#5 East/Middle) @ Baylor(#1 East/Middle) Baylor 5, Brentwood Aca. 1 Father Ryan (#3 East/Middle) @ Evangelical Christian School(#2 West) Father Ryan 3, ECS 1 St. Agnes (#3 West) @ Pope John Paul II (#2 East/Middle) Pope John Paul II 1, St. Agnes 0 Girls Preparatory School (#4 East/Middle) @ Briarcrest (#1 West) Briarcrest 2, GPS 1 But TSSAA is not quite right; Baylor score was actually 6-1. So, what should the matchups be from here? If they seeded the teams without factoring the substate seedings, I would orderthe teams in the following way: Baylor PJP Father Ryan Briarcrest Therefore I would have Baylor vs Briarcrest and PJP vs Father Ryan. I mean no disrespect to Briarcrest but GPS was clearly the lowest team out of Middle/East. I think Briarcrest's multiple injuries have just taken too much a toll. However, I don't think that TSSAA will do the above. I expect they will honor the substate seedings, but give Baylor the #1 overall versus Briarcrest. If so, I see Baylor vs Father Ryan and Briarcrest vs PJP. I think then that Baylor will face PJP in the finals, which would be a replay of their very competitive Region Final. Any other thoughts?
  2. Here's some info: http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2008/no...lor-final-four/ Baylor was a bit flat to start, and especially at the start of the 2nd half. They controlled play in the 1st half, got one good shot off that BA made a great save on, but not too much else. BA scored first just a few minutes into the 2nd half, taking advantage of some lax Baylor play in the back. The scoring shot was an excellent strike that the keeper had no real chance on. Baylor started to wake up and then a pushed up defender sent long cross to Kamisha Woodfine who collected it and made a great finish to even things up. A couple of minutes later, Woodfine worked the deep right corner, working around a couple defenders to give a perfect pass to McKenzie Thomas who finished with a shot to the top left. The third Baylor goal really took it out of BA who had played a spirited game to that point. It was a beautiful day for soccer and both teams should be congratulated for their play and competiveness.
  3. Baylor 6 Brentwood Academy 1 All scores in 2nd half after BA went up 1-0.
  4. Ok, here's the games for this weekend as determined from several posts: Brentwood Academy @ Baylor 2pm EDT Father Ryan @ ECS Noon CDT St.Agnes @ JP II 2:30 pm CDT GPS @ Briarcrest 11am CDT Good Luck To All !!
  5. Brentwood Acadamy at Baylor - Saturday 2pm Weather looks great for everyone's games this weekend. Let's enjoy !!
  6. MVM, Thanks for the update. Now a question, do you happen to have the Goals For and Goals Against for these teams against ranked opponents? I was looking at these stats for teams in their overall schedule, but it really is misleading with the blowouts against weaker opponents. If you don't have it, no problem but it would be interesting to see these as we head into the playoffs.
  7. Hard to argue your logic DonC, but here's my winners: Briarcrest over GPS: I just don't think GPS can muster enough offense after all the injuries. Baylor over BA: Baylor has too much depth but must finish on shot opportunities or this could be very close like the PJP game. ECS over Father Ryan: This will be close, but I give the edge to the home team. Both teams have been a bit inconsistent at times. (sorry DonC) JPII over SAA: Should be a great game. I think JPII has played a tougher schedule and they were impressive against Baylor
  8. The info below was originally posted by Feverpitch. It will be updated after West Regional results on Monday. Substate on Sat. Nov. 1 for Division II AA shakes up as follows according to the TSSAA website: Visitor Home (#5 East/Middle) (#1 East/Middle) (#3 East/Middle) (#2 West) (#3 West) (#2 East/Middle) (#4 East/Middle) (#1 West) Therefore: Brentwood Academy @ Baylor Father Ryan @ ECS St.Agnes @ JP II GPS @ Briarcrest
  9. If the state volleyball tournament is any indication, cost may an issue now (even if it wasn't before) in having the championships at school sites. Volleyball was supposed to be at MTSU but they changed at the last moment due to cost. It does seem like a small college could work out if the different classifications were played at different sites. Each classification essentially needs just one field for two days. Well, I at least hope you enjoy visiting Chattanooga; it's a pretty nice place to hang out for a couple of days.

  11. The time is right to start a thread for the Division II AA State Championship journey. It looks to be quite competitive if the Region games/results are any indication. The West seeds get determined Monday night I believe. After that, the schedule will be set for the Substate games and everyone can contribute previews and predictions. One question, how do semifinal seedings get determined after substate? Is there a quarterfinal "bracket" that leads directly to the semis, or are seedings redone after substate? Good luck to all in the tournament. Let's hope for good games, with good refs, and no injuries.
  12. I think there is a typo ... Brentwood Acedemy is 13-2-2 for the year (14-2-2 counting last night) so they can not have 6 losses. I really like this analysis so can you recheck BA. Thanks !!
  13. For the record, Baylor is now 16-0-1. I don't know why Eurosport doesn't have three game scores recorded that Baylor won.
  14. What a great game. PJP is much better than their record and gave Baylor it's toughest game of the year. Baylor had more opportuunities but many shots went wide or high of the goal. As such, the PJP keeper never had to make many difficult saves. The Baylor keeper came up big with a diving save on a deflected ball and in the PKs. The goals against her were not keeper errors in any way. The game was not well officiated, with many calls missed both ways. By the end of the game, parents from both sides were almost commiserating with each other. Congrats to both teams, but especially to PJP who went toe to toe with a much deeper Baylor squad. PJP looked young so they should be a big factor assuming they don't loose too many seniors, and can bring along a couple of more players to give them depth.
  15. Regionals are at BGA ... what is that field like?
  16. Wow .... great summary. Thx. The Regional seeding games should be interesting too. Good Luck.
  17. Don, I did not mean to say that CCS lost because of the field. You would know better than I. I will summarize a different way. ND has a unique field, and I think District Championships should not be played on unique fields if all teams come to play at a common site, ND's or otherwise. I'm sure there are other schools in the State that have similar challenges. As long as these fields meet the required standards, then they should be used for home games and there is absolutely no reason why not. Homefield advantage and/or familiarity takes many forms from small fields to hard fields to big fields. I just think there should be a higher standard for tournament playoff sites such that uniqueness is less a potentail factor. ND has a great program, but a challenging field issue that can't be solved without buying land off-site and that's really not a great use of school funds. Good luck going forward. Also, Cambron seems to be a spectacular player. Does see have a college choice yet?
  18. The post you replied to had that information. Has #3 from the West been determined?
  19. I think that the CCS coach was actually trying to do the ND coach a favor. I'm sure that the ND coach would like a real field too. Maybe this will help get one somehow. It's not just the field size .... it really falls off the last 3-4 yards on the sides as it was designed to drain for a football field. And everyone has heard about the problem with lines. In the end, it's ND's home field and that's ok for them, but it should never be used for a district championship.
  20. tcar ... can you provide a summary of the game? I was thinking Father Ryan might have the better chance of winning. Bad thinking I guess.
  21. Thanks for the correction. I must have heard my source wrong. Any details on the game?
  22. Baylor 2 GPS 1 Baylor is now #1 Seed from East, GPS is #2
  23. Webb plays GPS today (friday). The winner then plays Baylor next Tuesday to determine East #1 and #2 seeds for East/Middle Regionals. The loser is done for the season. I don't know the dates but here is what happens at Regionals (as copied from another post above). Middle/East Region Games #1 Middle v #1 East for #1/#2 seeding at sub-state #2 Middle v #2 East for #3/#4 seeding at sub-state #3 Middle v #4 Middle for #8 seeding at sub-state
  24. Thanks for the information. If anyone has the district game schedules for East and Middle, please post them. H2ODOG has provided the West in another post.
  25. Thanks H2O. So it's possible (though not likely) that the top 2 seeds from regular season can be left out of substate as only three teams go from the West. Is this right? I am new to TN so this was a surprise to me. It seems to make regular season somewhat insignificant other than simply "playoff tournament prep".
