  1. Anyone know how the freshman and "B" team game went yesterday. I heard they were going to play..did they? and if so.....how did it go?

From what I hear, it was 7 - 0 Hickman after the freshmen played and HC was playing B team guys on the freshman team due to lack of freshman. The second half was LC's B-team and the score ended up being 12 to 7 LC. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  2. You play a very weak out of region schedule - always have. That is one of the main reasons your playoff runs are cut short. Look at what Camden has done is recent years with out of region games. Westview, Milan, Jackson Northside. Ask some of their fans if it has improved thier team. I know you have some local rivals that a single A and I can understand wanting to continue those traditions, but at least step out of the area once in a while and play someone that isn't a gauranteed W. A perfect regular season is great if you want to be at the house in mid November but you guys want to go to the Boro' just like everyone else.

Just because we didn't play the best teams in 2A doesn't mean we didn't want to. I know for a fact that our coaches tried to schedule the best 2A competition possible but for reasons such as scheduling conflicts, travel, etc, it never got done. It is much easier for Camden to play you guys, Westview, Northside - because of the proximity to those teams. We are kind of in the middle of nowhere and noone wants to come play here so its hard to get a home and home. I am a firm believer that great competition week in and week out makes you better, but I also believe that if you have a good team, you have a good team - no matter who you've played. It will all play out soon enough and either you'll be right or I'll be right. At least we don't have something like the BCS where all we would have would be speculation.

  3. L Panther fan, don't get caught up in what someone who knows nothing about LC football thinks about our history. The fact is unlike most other rual schools we compete every year. Some years we have the players to make a run and some years we don't. The difference between us and some of those others is that during our down yrs. (which other schools call rebuilding) we still compete and win more than we lose. We have finished 1st or 2nd in our district or region 17 of the last 18 years. Those are the teams that we are told to play by the TSSAA not the ones that some of these clowns deem as weak scheduled opponents. I do believe that this is one of those teams that can make a serious run.

I know alot about our history, and I agree with you, we do stand out from most rural schools in that we compete year in and year out. I was just saying that the early exit part of that guys argument was right. We have not been able to get over that hump in years past when we should have been able too. But I agree with you completely that this is the team that can do it, and I think will do it.

  4. If this Lewis Co. team is like all the others it is substantially overated in my opinion. So yes, I dont think they would stand a chance against Tyner. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

LCP, don't worry about all of this stuff. Mr. Postman and everyone else has every right to call us overrated, because every year for several years we are supposed to be major challengers and every year we exit early. We don't need to get into all these discussions. We just need to worry about one game at a time. These polls mean absolutely NOTHING!!! All that matters is what happens every Friday night from now until the first weekend in December. Lets just concentrate on us and we will be fine.

  5. Well I know its not as exiting as last week, but its still a big ballgame because the undefeated regular season is on the line. Without a perfect regular season, the Panthers could give up homefield advantage in one or two key games in the playoffs. The Panthers need to stay focused this week and take care of business. I think they will be fine as long as they don't let the long drive to Antioch get to them. I see the Panthers taking care of business.

    What does everybody think?

  6. Either team couldn't beat the Milan Bulldawgs! Lewis Co. might have a shot, but Hickman Co. has no chance at all even if you get 3 or 4 more runningbacks!

Well Johnny, it will be a LONG time before either team has to worry about the Milan Bulldogs. We will cross that bridge if/when we get there. in the meantime, the Panthers have to take care of business against Ezell-Harding, noone can be overlooked at this point in the season.

  7. I can assure you that we were not saving any strength last night....not to take anything away from the Panthers...they played great....BUT....will you at least acknowledge the fact that not having Sowell in the backfield made just a little difference? the kid has already rushed for over 1000 yards this year (don't think you have any of those)....no doubt, the Panthers close the gaps very fast, but Sowell gets through those holes quicker than anyone we have....you are living in a fairy-tale world if you think the outcome of the game MIGHT, notice I did not say WOULD HAVE, but might have been different if Sowell played....walk onto the field without Crowell or another one of your best players and you just might change your tune.........

Sorry for the delay in my response DBF, but I havn't been around a computer much this weekend. No doubt having Sowell might have made a difference. But Grimes could have already had 1000 yards rushing this year too if he had the amount of carries that Sowell has had. He is a very good back as well. Look, the way the Panthers D played Friday night, I don't know that Sowell would have had a big night - he may have but I doubt it. Make no mistake, the Panthers WILL NOT overlook HC again if they meet in the playoffs. Someone said it perfect earlier, the way the Panthers see it, their revenge isn't complete yet.

I will give the Bulldogs credit, they played hard Friday night and I expect them to play harder if they meet again. The difference will be that the Panthers will fix their offensive problems and move the ball better in the second meeting and the defense will remain solid. I just hope that both teams take care of business so we can see that great atmosphere again. That was an amazing environment Friday night, great job by both fans, but especially our fans - it was intense.

  8. we are not in a hurry.....we want to keep Coach Patterson and there's no one saying that LC cheated....did you happen to forget about last year? the same scenerio is shaping up again.....I would be careful about flopping my chops just yet....you will get the full strength Dawgs the next time....no excuses, just facts

Hey DBF. why didn't we get yall's full strength last night? Did they just make a decision they were only gonna give a certain amount of effort and save the rest for later? You might have to play a tougher team in the first round because of last night. Might have been a bad idea!

  9. guys....i'm out of here....probably will not post again until after the game tomorrow night....I think we all have had a good time this week going back and forth at one another....I think for the most part it has all been in good fun....hope all of you have a safe trip over here....hope both teams are able to play without anyone getting hurt....most of all i just hope the game will live up to the hype that we have created! see you in a few hours....and of course....GO DAWGS!

Dawg, the back and forth banter has been fun. I have a sneaking suspicion we will get to renew this somewhere around the second or third round of the playoffs. I would agree that MOST of it has been all in good fun. /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=" Panthers fans - be safe - and BE LOUD!!!! I hope the dawgs and Panthers have a good, clean, and injury free game. With the Panthers coming out on top, of course. GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!

  10. hey who knows.....just might be me and you there tomorrow night....you can come sit on the c'ville side if you want....its closer to the concession stand!!

Ha, I seriously doubt you and I will be the only two there. I think we might be joined by something like 5,998 of our closest friends! No offense, but I'm going to have to pass on sitting on the HC side. I might stick out like a sore thumb in my black and gold amongst all that red, haha.

  11. do you get the feeling we are about the only two left on here? /dry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="

You know I do. /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I just know sleep is gonna be hard to come by tonight so this is about all I have to do. That and watch this great baseball game on tv!

  12. just wondering there Pride....does your computer have spell check? Feild? (field) There (their) Fell? (feel)

But, I digress, /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" /> so I will play along and help you figure out what you are going to say after the game....."Gosh, you know there feild was pretty wet but they steal bet us anyway....I fell so bad now"......you can just copy and paste that if you want too.....I give you my permission

And here I thought you guys had given up hope, haha. J/k I know better than that. I think you might be singing that tune you wrote for lcpride though. But hey, what kind of fan would I be if I didn't believe that?

  13. well said pantherfan....you make more sense than anyone on here!

this thread just wouldn't be the same without you radio!

    didn't we do good? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

Ahh, I spoke too soon. There you are dawgballfan - WE MISSED YOU!!!! Haha. I apreciate the compliment, just speaking my mind. Are you as ready as I am?! Only a few more hours!

  14. Look Panther faithful, it doesn't matter who spray painted the field. Could have been HC player, coulda been an LC coach, it coulda been a HC fan, LC booster, Santa Clause, or the Easter Bunny - doesn't matter. The Panthers don't need all that stuff to get them fired up. A couple of posters earlier nailed it, if the Panthers need all that to motivate them, there is a problem.

The Panthers don't need that. All they need to do is just remember how bad it felt last year getting beat in their own house and ending their season. They need to think about how bad it hurt those seniors last year when reality set in that most of them would never play football again. The Panthers are ready.

Something is up with these Hickman County fans though - they havn't posted all day. Either somebody from their side told them to stop giving us so much bulletin board material, or they are worried about their chances or something. Who knows, but they have made this less entertaining. They may have a point though, there may not be anymore need for talking - the pads and helmets will do that in a few short hours. GO PANTHERS!!!!!

  15. Well.....first of all "Pantherfan" the Advisor hasn't accused LC of anything OTHER THAN exiting the playoffs prematurely! I think I know what I said......I typed it! Secondly, I didn't say anything about "padding" your schedule although history shows us that LC usually gets everybody in the state all excited about the Panthers only to break our hearts in November! In case you failed to read my earlier posts, there are many of us outside you borders that routinely rout for Lewis County. The Advisor didn't refer to LC as a joke and I'm not a hater, but the Advisor DOES know what it takes to play week 12, 13, 14, and 15! One need not look to me for arguement purposes, open your own programs that circulate throughout the stadium every Friday night. They should have the records from the past several years to prove that the Advisor is a "truth telling Advisor". Carroll County ended your season 3 years in a row.....01-03, Benton County the next and Ezell Harding the next. Then a very strong Goodpasture team beat you in '06 and your opponent tomorrow night ended your season last year! The point should be clear! We want to believe in the black and gold but .........history proves it only leads to heart ache!

Advisor, it just seemed to me from your first post that you were trying to make fun of the Panthers early exits and putting it on the scheduling. If you were just stating that a weak schedule negatively affects your chances in the playoffs, I have to agree with you. But its like I said earlier, its not ALL LC's fault. They try to schedule really good teams but they usually either can't or won't play. So the next best option is to schedule the best that you CAN get. And thats why they scheduled Wayne Co. - a solid team that could make some noise in the 1A playoffs, and Mt. Pleasant - a perrinnial 1A powerhouse.

I apologize if I misread your post. If you are pulling for the Panthers again this year as you said you have in the past I would encourage you to stay on board. This team could be really special.

But first things first - Hickman County. And yes, they put the Panthers out last year in their own house. They played harder than the Panthers did in that game and deserved that win. But I believe this team is different and has learned from the past. I just hope the Panthers are fired up and ready to go for this one - I know they are. And I know the Bulldogs are too. Its gonna be a great game in a GREAT atmosphere. Take care of business PANTHERS!!!!!

  16. Yes, I know where Hohenwald is........and it IS right in the middle of the Volunteer State! Of course the schools I'm talking about may not want to come to you............go to them........you know..............the ol' Virginia Tech theory! If you want home games, there's about 15 different quality Memphis schools anxious to come play you for a $2,000 pay day! You can pay to play good ones and bad ones........From Ridgeway to Manassas............they will all do it! Otherwise, stay on you path to an early basketball season!

What does any of this matter right now? Neither team can change their schedule, its too late WE ARE IN WEEK 8! You won't have to worry about it next year because we will be playing Giles, Marshall, Spring Hill, and Page. You never answered my question advisor - where are you from? What team do you support? I think all us LC and HC fans have a right to know since you came in and interrupted our thread by accusing us of padding our schedules and saying we both will get beat early in the playoffs.

So please, pray tell - Who is your team?

I never thought I would say this in a million years, but Hickman fans, come back!!! Anything is better, even arguing with yall, than having to deal with some hater like advisor that thinks both our teams are a joke.

  17. The 2nd paragraph of this comment is the most laughable quote I've seen on CoachT this year! You guys don't get it! Even a the West TN ESPN radio station said it yesterday......."this region is invisible in the postseason!" Until you LC Panthers rid yourselves of the Wayne County's, Mt Pleasant's, and the Waverly's from your schedule, you will continue to stay at home in November! Who cares who wins this game! Yes, the winner should have homefield for the first 2 playoff games but then both will eventually lose before the 3rd round...............one of you will be beaten at home!!

Toughen the schedule!!!! Both Hickman County and Lewis County sit smack in the middle of the state.........thus, are in reasonable proximity to some wonderful football programs that could make your programs better!! NOT Ezell Harding! What's wrong with Giles County, Station Camp, White House, Whites Creek, Page, Kenwood ..........I mean the list could go on! Guys.........when will you learn.........it happens EVERY SINGLE YEAR!!!

Many of us WANT to see you advance............but.......neither team will give yourself a chance. If you know for sure that your region is weak............schedule tougher non-region games.............not 1A teams!!........and don't mention the word rivalry! They will end your season early!

First of all, let me say I love your pretty red font. Secondly, where are you from? If you lived in or around Hohenwald you would understand that it is out of the way for just about everybody. Noone wants to come here and play. I know for a fact that schools all over the midstate AND West Tennessee of all classifications were contacted about playing Lewis County this year and all declined for various reasons: travel, didn't want to play down and risk getting beat by a 2A school, and just plain old scheduling conflicts.

Look, I know what it always looks like to the outside world - Lewis Co dodges the big dogs to pad their record and I'm telling you that is not the case. But hey, you and any of the other doubters across the state won't have to worry anymore next year. Both Lewis and Hickman will be playing schools with enrollment almost twice that of their own. And its not like these games won't count. These games will, to the best of my understanding, decide whether or not LC or HC can even get into the playoffs! So enjoy this last year of LC plays nobody and thats why they lose early in the playoffs, cause its the last year you can use it.

BTW, don't sleep on either of these teams (LC and HC) to make some REAL noise in the playoffs this year.

  18. man, you are too nice....are you the mayor of Hohenwald? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    Not a chance, politics is for the birds haha /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

I love this CoachT stuff, I just hate it when it gets out of hand and personal. No players name should be mentioned on here in a negative sense, these kids are in high school. I apologized to you because I felt like you had a point. Don't worry, the later in the week it gets the more on edge and nastier I'll get. You'll get me plenty riled up then!

  19. hey, did you make that "p" word up? generally that word is associated with kitty kats....please keep giving Sowell some good bulletin board material.....your boys better get used to seeing the back of his jersey

Whoever said that, we don't condone that stuff. If you want to get on here and talk trash about the game, fine. But it gets childish when you have to start using expletives. As far as the bulletin board stuff goes, you guys have done your part in that for our guys as well. We appreciate it /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />

  20. Be careful about putting words in my mouth. I didn't say anything about who was going to win this game. No one on here can say with certainty who will win this game. That is why I have chosen to focus only on what we do know at this point in time.

My apologies, wasn't trying to put words in your mouth. Sounded like a set-up question to me thats why I said that. That's what I get for assuming. Well I am with you that noone can say for certain, although everybody else on this board seems to know exactly who will win haha. The clock is ticking down, I can't wait!

  21. you know, that might be the best idea for you guys....gas prices are still up there....with the money you save on gas you could buy plenty of Kleenex!

You know, you're right. I think the Panthers better give that option serious thought. I mean after all, this is the GREATEST FOOTBALL TEAM EVER TO PUT ON CLEATS that they have to play. I know I sure wouldn't want to be out there against em. /huh.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="huh.gif" />
