I don't think that Aydelott would be a bad fit for Ravenwood. You know they did win a state title as recently as 2005. As for administration support or quality of athletes, that is subjective. The facility issue, well Riverdale won state titles before having their own stadium to play in.

Sad fact is, that the coach usually plays the best players, regardless of fairness.

I have experienced this with my children, and see it happen every day with others. From pee-wee to the pros, coaches play the best. Late to practice or no hustle in rec ball, all the way to convicted felons in the pros, the players with the skill to perform are the ones on the field or court. If a parent complains about their child's time, you can usually bet they are not the best one on the team. Just not human nature to withhold the players with the most skill in favor of fairness. I know favoritism is an issue also, but be one of the best on the team and you will play, a lot. One of life's lessons that you learn early on and never forget.

What gets me with ALL the schools in Rutherford County is the PA systems in them all are like an after thought and the thought was BAD!

 

While they can be used to blast obnoxious music they cannot be heard on either side most nights even if the players names are announced.

Since we touched on the subject of PA announcers, I will ask my burning question:

Why does the announcer at Oakland refuse to call the names of the playmakers of the opposing teams during the game? Oh, and don't tell me it's merely an oversight - it is blatant and down right rude, in my opinion. Does no one supply this guy with the opposing team's roster? And it's not only the Riverdale game, I witnessed it with Smyrna both games last year at Oakland.

It is really annoying, as though not recognizing the player will make them simply go away......some sort of mental edge I suppose.

That's super! I know Coach Mid, and he will definitely continue the successful program at Smyrna.

He is a fierce competitor and puts all his time & energy into whatever sport he is coaching. Too bad his duties with the football team must end.

The steep admission costs definitely keeps the casual fan living in Murfreesboro from attending some really great contests. I personally have no players involved, but I enjoy watching anyway. Not going to support this license to steal however.

The title of this thread does the man a great disservice. Retiring from a successful career should not be labeled as quitting.
