The key will be the HC secondary and ability to get pressure on the QB. The SW qb will make you pay with the deep hall if the secondary is out of position. HC will win the battle up front and will move the ball offensively. Eliminate the deep ball and win. If not, SW will put up a lot of points.

This is a statement that you might use in a 24-22 lose But not a 45-22 lose. Own it man. You were wrong on this game.
I was 100% wrong. I own that. I think everyone is misunderstanding what I’m saying. They are a pretty dang good football team. Obviously better than I thought. I’m just saying they weren’t overwhelming. Not a huge team. Not a super physical team. A lot of good football players. The QB played phenomenal, he was elusive, and had great touch on the deep ball. The WRs are good, not overwhelming. The RB is good, not dominate. Where I really missed on SW was how well coached they were, how well they executed as a unit, and how disciplined they were. They didn’t make many mistakes. I thought it would be a free for all but it was the opposite. They outplayed Beech. They play with more heart. They executed better. As a team.

Dude, it's okay to say it. Southwind is legit. It's easy to write them off as just another 5A Memphis team that cruised through region 8, but the facts are that we have 4 common opponents with them, and other than Ridgeway (whom we both shut out), they have out performed us against every one of them.
I am greatly appreciative of our homefield advantage next week, but Southwind still has a very decent chance of going to the semis.
I don’t even have a guess for next week to be honest. HC could win by 3 scores or get beat. If they play as clean as they did tonight they’ll be a tough out. They’re a pretty dang good team. All I’m saying is I was impressed, just not wowed.

I'm pretty certain when you look at teams that both faced, whether it be in a game or a scrimmage, it's quite evident that Southwind was simply just a better football team. You don't just accidentally go 12-0 at this point & have 3 shutouts in a row (5 overall) heading into this game. Scoring 54, 50, 62, & 45. Better team won. I don't know what the surprise is after they beat Springfield 62-0....
Better team won.

That is exactly what I expected you to say, congrats on a good season anyhow...lol
They are a solid team and I was very impressed with the discipline and execution. I’m not taking anything away from them, I just really didn’t see anything that wowed me. The QB is good and has the potential to be really good. Throws the deep ball very well, but there were also several times he had receivers running through the secondary uncovered and at times unnoticed. That’s what I mean by Beech losing the game. Uncovered receivers are unacceptable. SW had a good game plan that they executed well. Beech had a lot of mental mistakes that helped.

I tried to tell you guys all week, I said 2 scores and it was more than 3, I am sure yall had some turnoevers like we did, why because their D-line is really good and they have speed all over the field, they CREATE turnovers, not tooting my horn but everybody wanted to down play these guys...
SW - 45
Beech - 22
Beech played bad and with no emotion. SW played solid and not very many mistakes. The line play was not anything special. The QB hit a few deep balls and then the Beech defense packed it in. SW was not a physical team but played a very clean and disciplined game. This game was as much Beech losing as it was SW winning. They have a good team but I still don’t think this is a great team.
That said, hats off to SW on a good win. Very disciplined and clean.

I don’t wanna get off topic. Oakland wins by at least 14.
MJ just can’t compete with this Oakland team. It took Riverdale a wild miracle two pointer.
in 6A everyone wants to see that rematch at Riverdale
BUT WE PLAY THE BEAUTIFUL GAME.
Shock the state Mj. Shock me.
If MJ and perry win would be absolute chaos and set up a Riverdale Germantown rematch
IF MJ can beat Oakland, nothing is a given after that, but I don’t think it’s close.

Hendersonville has the chance.

see ya in Paris
At this point in the season I think most have a chance. It will be an uphill battle for sure, but it’s doable.

As a Springfield fan I watched both games, was at the Munford game, and yes they are, people keep saying things to make themselves feel better about their team, or who they think will win, but I am pulling for Beech, and I still got SW by 2 scores, we will see tomm...
I’m going the other way, Beech by 2+ scores. Everyone seems to be all over the place in this one.

I would like to think it will be competitive, but I just don’t see it. The wheels have fallen off.

No patting. Just stating facts. Just remember you started this. I have been pro-MJ all season.

I will say the difference is that Southwind is mich better than that Munford team from a year ago...
They didn’t look better to me. It looked like a combination of Springfield being down, self destructing, having some injuries, and having no offense. It also looked as if they gave up after they were down 21-28. But I wasn’t there.

Now back to things that are relevant. Beech travels to Southwind.

Lol yes a team that was consistently just as good as y’all, but Ofcourse you’ll contort your argument in the most arrogant way possible. “Beech is on an island of their own” MJ had every right to win any of those double OT games, 27-20 loss…. Let’s not forget the drubbing we gave Beech the year “you would love to forget”…. Or the goofy two point conversion in the jamboree… head to head… there was never much seperation. Just be glad the universe was on your side.
3-7 in the last 10 games… I guess that’s a good enough reason to drop them and not get back on the schedule.

So when was the last time MJ played Beech other than a Jambororee?
all Wilson-county schools won’t play. We try to schedule them every chance we get.
the gate is better for both. But that L isn’t.

This isn’t an argument I’m opposing, not sure what the attacks are for but I’m on the same mindset. I just don’t take very kindly to the downright disrespect his name takes on these boards.
Like I have stated several times over the course of several years, I like TP. I’m not personally attacking him, I just don’t know why he continues to do the same thing that apparently has reached its ceiling. MJ is never going to move beyond where they’re at if something different doesn’t happen.

So it’s mandatory, says Eers, that MJ plays Beech on a yearly basis… lol I miss the games for sure, but no one is scared, nor is it mandatory.
Not mandatory. Doesn’t have to be Beech. Just play someone…
Cane Ridge 2-9
Hunter's Lane 1-9
Antioch 4-7
Franklin 2-8
Overall 9-33
That's a loaded non-region schedule. Don’t tell me they don’t avoid quality teams

What’s there to avoid, I’d say we had the better or equal quality team 2-3 different years during his tenure. Yeah it’s a shame we can’t see the final result but if you think a grown man is “scared” lol you’ll have to find a new argument.
Scared. Pad the win/loss. Call it what you will. MJ is avoiding Beech and will continue to. There really is no argument.
-
1 minute ago, MJGOLDENBEARS said:
No guys stop, Eers is having a meltdown. How dare Beech have any scrutiny or any negative reflection at that..
I assure you, I’m good. Win or lose this week, Beech is fine. We’re in good hands with a great coaching staff, a lot of young talent, and a schedule that makes them better and ready come playoff time. Perhaps you can chat with TP and get that Beech/MJ game on the schedule since he’s been avoiding that at all costs.

Won't dispute that MJ is at a talent disadvantage against some teams, but there are programs at a similar talent level that have consistently played for titles. I do think Perry has done a solid job and have not heard a bad word said against them, there's something to be said for running a program that represents a community well on and off the field.
Iron sharpens Iron. Until MJ makes peace with the idea that its OK to go 6-4 in the regular season against a challenging schedule, were going to be talking about the same things every year. Oddly enough, Perry actually put together some good schedules when he first took over, struggled some then went the easy route. I don't hate Perry and I think anybody that does should check their priorities, I just want to see successful teams play other successful teams
I know and like Perry. That doesn’t change the fact that I disagree with his scheduling tactics. They consistently have great regular season records only to fall apart and get bounced early. They aren’t ready for top teams come playoff time because they never play top teams.

Lol look how quick to were to save face..
Is it just natural for you to troll. This has nothing to do with saving face. Both programs have a respect for one another. That’s what happens when two good programs play one another year after year, but you wouldn’t know anything about that with that Charmin schedule.

It wouldn’t be at shackle island. You gotta come to HC!! And how was it a fluke? Henry County was on its 3rd straight road game I’m a row. Beech was sitting easy on a bye week. Y’all got a free possession in the very 1st of the game and still lost. Got ahead 14. And still lost. Henry County is just better this year. Sorry it hurts your feelings. You gotta get through Southwind 1st. If beech is sleeping on SW like you are yal can come to Paris and watch the HC/SW game.
Man… don’t fall for that.
1) we’re not sleeping on SW
2) Beech has the utmost respect for HC

Since we're all throwing out our own ideas.....
Keep it at 6 Classes, but only the top 2 in each region earn automatic trips to the playoffs. Use a rating system that not only rewards teams for scheduling tough competition but beating them as well. Break the bracket down to 2 Quads, each seeded 1-16 and eliminate the alternate sites for semifinals. Would prefer this happen for 5 classes, but I know going back to 5 classes is a pipe dream
Selfishly, keep it six but I like the rest.

Bradley wins easily.
Oakland gets revenge in a close one that could go either way.
Brentwood beats Ravenwood for the second time.
Houston has two losses by a total of three points, one to Germantown by a point and the other to South Panola (MS) by two pints. Houston wins the second time around.
