  1. MTP won by 5. Cully lead most of the game and by as many as 5 or 7 (cant remember) in the 4th. One ref kept them in the game last night. The fouls were 8 to 1, 4 minutes after halftime with only one ref making a call. COUNTLESS over-the-back calls weren't called. MTP really isn't that good. They can definately be beat. I think the tournament might turn out differently than many think. Anyone could beat anyone on any given night.

I think it is odd that you are complaining about the officials. One of them used to coach at Culleoka. I also think it is odd that you are saying that your own team isn't any good. You stated that MTP isn't good and they beat Culleoka twice this year. So how bad do you think your team is?

I will say that your student section was fun to watch.

I don't think any of those refs have coached at culleoka. You must be mistaken. Also, our student section was fired up and motivating our players. Not a word of support was heard from Mt Pleasant's side. Then the last 3 or 4 minutes some cheering students appeared from somewhere! Sad to be only victory fans and not supporting fans.

  2. I want to apologize to Pilkington, Goldman, their parents, the Culleoka team, fans and school. That was out of character for me and I have no business calling out individual players in a negative manner. No parent likes to see their child talked about in a negative way and I will be the first to admit that I am a parent that feels the same way. I regret what I have posted and I will only focus on the positive side of players from this point forward.

As far as having issues with tall skinny players that is not the case at all. I let the emotions of last nights game get the best of me and I made a mistake. I didn't mean anything by my post on a personal level but instead I only spoke of the play. That is still no excuse and I used poor judgement by doing so. I'm human and I do make mistakes. Both are good players and I'm sure better kids. Again I apologize.

I did not bash Demario or the twins in the past.

Good luck to both players and the Culleoka basketball team this season.

After reading today’s Columbia Daily Herald and seeing the picture of the Culleoka/Hampshire game I realize that I have made a mistake. I got # 3 Goldman confused with another Culleoka player. Goldman's name should have never been mentioned by me. Regardless of the mix up this does not make my comments about any Culleoka player acceptable. I am extremely sorry for this.

To the readers on this thread this is my last comment on this issue. I just wanted to clarify this one matter. I will move forward from here.

So Willie, who was the other player since it wasn't Goldman?

  3. i have a hard time believing that a culleoka teacher would say that to the SF cheerleaders at the end of the game. how do you know she/he was a teacher? admittedly, there were plenty of loud mouths on both sides during the game. and yes SF won. congrats. a win is a win 1 pt or more. but i wouldn't be bragging on your game. neither team was on top of their game at all. and i think you must have blinked and missed coach slatten shake hands. he was the first in line.

  4. With no recruits left on the roster in the Slatten era, will they be able to prevail against a very talented yet underdogged SF team? But as an honest fan, I am very displeased with SF's play right now because they aren't playin up to their potential as of right now. Maybe a taste of someone good in the district will get them going. Good luck SF

    Final SF by 5

    i'll take culleoka by 14.

wheres leadfarmer at!? havnt seen him posting any this year!

I'm here Monkey! Been out of the loop for a bit. Heard my boys were doin pretty good so far this year tho

sounds like everyone has got off to pretty good starts!

Yeah i see the cully ppl are upset cause some other team will probably steal their spotlight this year as well

i can't find where the "cully people" are upset. where are you getting that?

  7. chances are there wont be a lot of cully people on here for a day or two.

geez, give us time to get home.

congrats Eagles, you played a good game.

congrats to the Warriors on a great season! we're all proud of you!

Welcome to the Region 6---NOW BETTER KNOWN AS THE DISTRICT 12A THREAD----

We heard it all.... "the twins"----"matchup problems"----"suffocating D"----"best D in the state"----"the D will be the difference in the game"

    blah

    blah

    blah

    you know who you are...

now you can all tell your boss you don't need time off after all to go to murfreesboro

    take your Culleoka defense and STICK IT!!! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

    oh, that was classy!

  8. Don't think they want to get into a run and gun shootout type game. That's something that could get Cully out of their comfort zone.

and we definitely don't want them out of their comfort zone!

    wherever it is on the floor, i hope they're in it! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  9. I think Cully wins by at least 10-15. But, I can see Summertown making things interesting if they can get the game into a up tempo style. I believe Summertown has to create a fastpace game with the hopes of getting Culleoka into a style of play they don't like, to have any chance of winning.

    do we have a style of play that we don't like? /wink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=";)" border="0" alt="wink.gif" />

  10. I am sure Cornersville gym will be rockin' Tuesday night! Will 11A schools come together to support the school that is left in the fight? Or will they support 12A? I'm not even sure it would be support for 12A, but rather disrespect for Cully. Jealousy is an ugly emotion. Culleoka's players do not play dirty ball. They play as a unit- a real team. They work hard and exhibit dedication to the sport. These guys deserve respect just as fans would feel their chosen school deserved had they remained in the running.

so well written femaletamale, i wish i had written this post myself!

  11. You need to be on the horn rounding up that student section, luv! That's the thing about Saturday night games- kids are not at school to hear the game announced. Hopefully, they will show up to cheer! I know the guys will show up to play! See ya there.....

maybe more will show up tues. night. saturday night was slim on students. and i don't think they felt compelled to cheer since it wasn't a close game. but tuesday night, we will need ALL of them there CHEERING their hearts out. is it going to be a white out? blue out? or pass out when it's over? let us know!

  12. Cully may be the last 11A team standing after this first round. Look for Pilkinton, Upshaw, Walton to be fired up for the game with Perry County. CJ's defense will be outstanding. Stephens will also be ready for action. Cully outlasts them all.

i think you're right. the beech twins need to be ready under the goal for everything--shots and rebounds! holt will be fired up and full of energy for this game. perry county may want it alot. i believe slatten used to coach there in the past. i hope the culleoka student section shows up. seemed to fire up the guys alot the other night at richland!

  13. Congratulations to Matthew Williams for winning player of the year for the district. He is a very good player and is always working the court! Also, to Antwane Beach, big congrats on tourney MVP! And to all those players who were not recognized on either district or tournament teams- these guys could not have been recognized without you! You work hard and the fans, coaches, and schools appreciate you more than you know! Keep up the good work! (Oh, yeah, go B.S.! Culleoka is proud of you, too!)

    femaletamale:

just curious--what part of this is funny to you?

  14. Garrett is a good player and never talks trash on the court i know from experince. Now for the tournement team cj holt got ripped more than anyone else i have ever seen he plays the best defense out of anyone in the district and has been for four years. Yes he isn't a scorer but that isn't what the all tournement team is about its about good players and when a team that has dominated the district tournement and regular season like culleoka has the desrve more players than a richland and don't deserve the same amount as a team that went one and out. That is what i think about that all three players from richland that were on that team are good but i don't think they are better than any of the 5 cully starts.

i don't think anyone has ever said that he does talk trash on the court.

  15. Congrats to the WARRIORS! Ya'll played a good game tonight against Richland. Richland wanted it bad, you could tell but it just didn't happen. I loved seeing CJ and Blayze having so much fun toward the end of the game. They were actually laughing and having a good time. #4 and #15 are great sports on Richland's team and they never give up.

Monkeywrench, I did notice when Stiles threw the ball toward Rector's face. Glad you could see what we were trying to describe when everyone else was so sure it wouldn't happen.

Congratulations to all of the players making the all district team and the all tournament team. Congratulations to Matthew Williams for getting district 11A player of the year. And congratulations to Coach Bruce Slatten for receiving coach of the year.

  16. im not sure if i said that....actually i probably did. but idk. depends how they play. usually the winning team is the better team, so i can say what i say, and it really doesnt mean much. but hopefully CA will come out and play, and i guess hope they play summertown...

it's not a question if you've said it or not...................the question is how many times HAVE you said it and how many more times WILL you say it? /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />

  17. im not saying i dont believe you. but culleoka fans have been known to overexagerate when it is done to your players. and down play it like nothing should have happened when it goes against one of your players.

don't clump us all in one catagory. not all culleoka fans overexagerate and not all of us downplay things that go against our players. i think if you had been there and seen these two plays, you'd be really surprised. but let's not go there..it happened and it's over. and thankfully nobody was hurt.

  18. well if he throws it at his knee he could easily cause it to hyperextend, and he'll tear an ACL. but like i said its rather hard to aim, you have a split second to turn around in the air and throw it. im sure he wasnt aiming for his face.

i'm sure since you left at half time, that you aren't sure about anything you are saying.

believe me, it was hard for us to believe the 2nd one happened like it did too. BUT we were there and we saw it.

  19. Well, what stirred Cully fans up was the fact that it was the second time he had thrown the ball hard at C.J. I realize it's part of the game, but it was ironic that he threw it that hard and at his face for the second time. I believe the first one hit C.J. in the arm. I applaud Cornersville's coach for taking #31 out of the game after it happened.

right, the first one hit him in the upper arm/chest. it was an unbelievably hard thrown ball. second time, which happened at the opposite end of the court, it was totally uncalled for. thrown incredibly hard directly into cj's face. i think the emotion of the game took over him for a minute (stiles). unbelievable that a call was not made..especially since it was the 2nd time involving the same two players. cj handled it with nothing but good sportsmanship as usual.

  20. Richland won by 9 or so. Culleoka beat Cornersville by 21. Stiles' actions toward the end of the game were totally uncalled for and he should have been ejected without any questions asked (for those that were there you know what I'm talking about). As far as Stephens' suspension, not sure if it was school adminstration or county administration that gave him the extra game, but it wasn't the TSSAA.

could not actually comprehend the actions of stiles. could not believe he didn't receive techs at the least, much less not being ejected from the game. once was unbelievable enough, but twice was not coincidental. it was pitiful.
